Ryan Thomas, a murderer serving a life prison sentence, escapes from Los Angeles Memorial Hospital, where he had just undergone surgery. Chase, who arrested him several years earlier, discovers he plans to take revenge on the people responsible for sending him to prison, and he and August race to stay one step ahead of him by finding his intended victims before he does.
