"The Others" was an excellent but very short-lived show on the NBC network in the spring of 2000. It only lasted half a season, 13 episodes, but the channel did not think its ratings were high enough to justify a renewal. The show was canceled that May, along with the shows "The Pretender" and "The Profiler" to make room for the XFL, or Extreme Football League. Perhaps if only NBC had had the foresight to see how badly the XFL would tank (gaining the lowest ratings in the history of television from any of the major networks), it would not have been so quick to cancel this excellent show.
