'Lone Gunmen' Site... Sorta

A tie-in website for the coming Lone Gunmen TV series has gone active... which you probably wouldn't really notice given its look of a legit corporate website. The site, called E-Com-Con, talks about the fictional company and its new Octium IV chip, which may be in a coming episode of the X-Files spin-off TV series.

Daniel Wood of Fandom.com's X-Files: The Ultimate Information Complex notes the following on his site:

"Of interesting note is the promotion of Suzanne Modeski, who just landed the position of Senior Vice President, Technical Relations. Take a look at the `Profiles` section of the site and you`ll see the names Dr. Daniel Pendrell and Dr. Zama Ishimaru. These are both combined names -- Daniel (Danny) was an informant of sorts for Mulder in the early seasons of The X-Files; Pendrell was a Bureau doctor who helped Mulder and Scully; Dr. Zama was a Japanese scientist working on the creation of an alien/human hybrid in the Nisei/731 two-parter, as was Dr. Ishimaru."

Wood also suggest you check out the site's link to "OctiumChip.Com, a promotional web site for the fictional Octium IV chip that features a Flash demonstration video of the chip`s capabilities."

-Weird, huh?

Updated December 17th

-Hey, I know there's been little news for awhile, but at least we have a TXF Gunmen appearance to tide us over. The guys were great, like always. Doggett met the Lone Gunmen! And were impressed with him, as I was and thought I would be. :)

Updated December 1st

-In a recent Dreamwatch interview, Chris Carter said that 5 episodes of "The Lone Gunmen" will be shown in "The X-Files" timeslot when it goes on its little hiatus in the spring. This is good to hear, for those of you wondering how long their stint on Sundays would be.

Updated November 28th

-Vince Gilligan had a chat today and, of course, I was there. I asked some Gunmen-related questions, but none got through. He did have some interesting things to say, but nothing major. He put a funny spin on the "Mission Impossible with geeks" quote CC has been using to describe the series, adding that "the Mission Impossible team in this case (the Gunmen) has no money and has to drive around in a 1969 VW Microbus." He said that they have a new writer named Nandi Bowe that they think is wonderful. That's about it, but I thought that was amusing.

Updated November 27th

-This week's tv guide had a short bit about soap actress Signy Coleman, who you may remember played Susanne Modeski in both the Lone Gunmen episodes on "The X-Files." They said that the producers want to use her on the series, and that doing the pilot episode "wasn't in the cards" do to her pregnancy. This is good news, since I know a lot of people were hoping that she was going to appear, or at least wondering about it. Looks like Byers is going to be a very happy man...

Snedden Joins 'Gunmen'

Stephen Snedden (Freedom Song) has signed on as a regular cast member on the upcoming X-Files spin-off series, The Lone Gunmen, according to Variety. There's no word on what part he will play on the program.

Note: This could just be a rehash of old news, which if I was sure it was it would not be posted here, but this could mean that Stephen Snedden's Jimmy is now going to be one of the main characters. Only time will tell.

-From Dark Horizons.com

"A while ago there was news about the way shooting was progressing on "Tilt", a modern remake of "Don Quixote" done by many of the former "The X-Files" crewmembers that was shot in 1-2 day stints per month each month with fund raising taking place between each session. Well now after two years the movie is finally finished and has become more than the indie film it originally set out to be - now it's a proper feature with steadicam shots, crane moves, visual effects and an aerial unit. Post production is well underway and the film itself will hit the festival circuit early next year." (Thanks to 'Patrick.')

Note: In case you don't know, Tom Braidwood (aka Frohike) stars in this movie and I've been keeping track of it, as you can see if you search below.

Updated November 12th

- FOX's Official Site, under "Press," is reporting that The Lone Gunmen Official Site will be relaunched sometime soon this month (there's currently only a teaser site), as will The X-Files Official Site. Finally! Also, the blurb said that the series will premiere in March. It's great to finally have some word on that. This means that "The X-Files" will show through February sweeps, then the Gunmen series will take over Sunday nights (for about a month, I guess). Then, after their short hiatus is over, "The X-Files" will return and "The Lone Gunmen" will move to its new night and time (at one point said to be Thursdays at 7PM Central). I'm sure most of you can't wait, I know I can't. Long live "The X-Files" and "The Lone Gunmen!" (please...) :)

Updated November 10th

-From The X-Files

The mythology-laced episode numbered 8X11 follows Doggett's intensive pursuit into the truth behind Mulder's disappearance. He gets a helping hand from Skinner and the Lone Gunmen. "The Gift," written by Frank Spotnitz, tracks a mysterious creature with unique capabilities in Squamash, Pennsylvania. The episode, directed by Kim Manners, is scheduled to air on Sunday, Feb. 4th.

-This is good, I guess. It's just I don't know how it's possible for them to appear when "The Lone Gunmen" is currently in production too. Look for a short appearance. However, this might mark the first time the female gunmen is a part of the group on "The X-Files." Also, go Spotnitz! He's penned not only one, but two episodes by himself this season (he hasn't done that since season five), and they both have the Gunmen (and Skinner). I guess we gunmen fans have him to thank.

Updated November 6th

-Hey, the guys were great last night. Scully and Skinner would have been lost with out them. Didn't know they could track spacecrafts did you? Also, I thought it was cool Skinner went to them. This is certainly just a precursor to more Skinner/Gunmen interaction on the series. Anyway, I hope everyone enjoyed it as much as I did!

Braidwood: 'Lone Gunmen'

Tom Braidwood, who plays Frohike of the Lone Gunmen, has been talking about his upcoming X-Files spin-off TV series. While talking to the Canadian National Post (via Fandom.com's X-Files webpage), Braidwood spoke about the series to come, saying, "We`ve taken a huge step up in having a series built around us. We always joked about it, the three of us that played the parts, but I don`t think any of us in our wildest imaginations thought they`d do a series about it."

Regarding appearances by other X-Files regular cast members, though not specific, Braidwood says, "Some of the same characters will show up, but it will be more government conspiracy and less supernatural, science fiction. You will get to see more of what the Gunmen do in their lives."

Updated October 28th

-"The Lone Gunmen" began production in Vancouver on October 23rd. They are shooting 12 episodes which, along with the pilot, will air early next year.

-Dean Haglund updated some of his site. The "Appearances" section talks about some Jan Sports backpacks advertisements in the Rolling Stone and Spin magazines. The "Travel" section may also be updated. Anyway, you can find that here and on my "Links" page.

Updated October 22nd

-A recent article with Mitch Pilleggi has hims stating that he will be in a "limited number of Lone Gunmen episodes." You can find that here.

- FOX is reporting that not only is the official site for "The X-Files" getting a make-over, but the official site for "The Lone Gunmen" will become active soon as well. (Finally!)

Updated October 15th

-From USA Today

-'Gunmen' geeks get a pretty break "People don't know what to expect." An understatement from Frank Spotnitz, executive producer of Fox's The Lone Gunmen, the X-Files spinoff that starts production in Vancouver Oct. 23 and will premiere between January and March . Until now, little was known about the show, except that it's about three computer nerds — Bruce Harwood, Tom Braidwood and Dean Haglund — who have popped up on The X-Files since 1993. That veil of mystery, says Spotnitz, is the work of Gunmen co-creator and X-Files top gun Chris Carter. "This is going to be a comedy with action, more like Mission: Impossible with three geeks," he says. Because the lead actors are not conventionally handsome, the producers added some pretty people — Zuleikha Robinson as their gorgeous rival and Stephen Snedden, who'll play their good-looking jock pal Jimmy, starting in the second episode. Spotnitz likes the contrast. "Why cast more people who look like the Lone Gunmen?"

Note: This is from the October 13th issue, which is Chris Carter's (and Mulder's) birthday. So everyone now, "Happy Birthday!"

-You can go to the BC Film Commision Site, from which this info is from, here, and by clicking on the "Film Info" Link.

Note: They forgot Vince Gilligan, John Shiban, and Frank Spotnitz as Executive Producers. Also, I was most interested by their productiond dates. I thought it would start sooner... Anyway, ending on March 21 pretty much rules out appearing on TXF in that time (their finale will be filmed a few weeks before), except maybe if there is a crossover. There are still a few more left before TLG starts though, so who knows.

Updated September 22nd

-From TheX-Files.com

-The Lone Gunmen will be appearing in another episode of "The X-Files" before they go off to film their own series the week after next. They will be appearing in the 12/10 episode, "Via Negativa" (Latin for the darkest path taken en route to enlightenment), written by Frank Spotnitz and directed by Tony Wharmby. As previously reported, the Lone Gunmen are in the first two episodes of the season, written by series creator, Chris Carter, and directed by veteran director for the show, Kim Manners. They will air 11/5 and 11/12.

Updated September 10th

-Dean Haglund updated his site(finally!), and according to him, nobody is sure of anything about the scheduling of "The Lone Gunmen." In case you haven't noticed, I've been recieving tons of conflicting months on when it's going to start, which you can all see below. Anyway, you can find that here and on my "Links" page.

Updated August 11th

-From TheX-Files.com

-Chris Carter talked at the Television Critics Association and said that the series would premiere on Sundays during late February or early March to start out. "The X-Files" will take a short hiatus at this time (Sandy Grushow, the president of FOX, said much the same). He said the series was starting late, because it would be to much work to do two shows. He wants to do both right. We will learn things about the guys in the pilot we've never known before(thus, more about their private lives). On top of the new female lead, there will be a new character in the second episode who is a tough masculine, sort of Sam Malone-type character, so their will kind of be an ensemble cast with three main characters.

Updated August 3rd

-The official site for "The Lone Gunmen" is now open. It's not much yet, but you may want to bookmark it for later use. You can find it here or on the "Links" page.

More Carter Talk on the Lone Gunmen series

"I seem to introduce a mythology to all of the shows that I do, so I would say that Lone Gunmen would have one too. Right now, there are three or four stories in the pipeline. There are no scripts actually written past that. We're right at the beginning for that, and we want to be careful with it. Especially after Harsh Realm, we want to be careful to do it just right, because as we saw on Harsh Realm, if you introduce it too early, you lose the opportunity to get people to come to the show. You've got to actually build good storytelling before you start building a mythology. That's probably the way The Lone Gunmen would work."

-The Lone Gunmen will continue to be in "The X-Files," just not in an expanded role that other supporting characters will get next year, at least until their series begins. They are in the first two episodes of next season, a two-part season premiere written by Carter. There is also currently talk of a X-Files/Lone Gunmen crossover.

-Note: Dean Haglund's site now has a mailing list that notifies you when updates are made.

Carter Talks 'Gunmen'

SciFi.com reports that X-Files creator Chris Carter showed off some clips from his upcoming Lone Gunmen series this weekend at the San Diego ComiCon. Carter says the series will be more light-hearted than The X-Files, and the clips showed stars Bruce Harwood, Tob Braidwood, and Dean Haglund in a number of humorous situations.

"Right now there are there are three or four stories in the pipeline ... but there are no scripts actually written past that," Carter told the audience. "One is being worked on. So we're really right at the beginning of that. We want to be careful with it. And especially after Harsh Realm, we want to be careful to do it just right."

"We're starting to work on it now," Carter explained. "We'll be filming it in October, and I think you guys will see it in March."

Updated June 27

-I know I've been a bit scretched for news over the last few weeks, but I have some major goodies for you this time. :)

The great TXF site "Haven for the FBI's Most Unwanted" has a promo trailer taken from the FOX conference I had mentioned earlier about the fall schedule and the return of "The X-Files." And, well, it rocks, and you can find it here. It seriously looks great, and I think some people who didn't think much of the idea had to think twice about that when they saw it. The new cast member(what a babe!) looks(not just physically) and sounds great. I love the accent, oh and it seems Byers has yet another personal connection to a conspiracy... It was really funny and you'll want to watch it over and over. I also have the trailer sequence for "The Lone Gunmen," and it also rocks, literally. I love the Jimi Hendrix-Star Spangled Banner intro and the wah-induced guitar riff(being a player myself). I hope Mark Snow plays guitar and that isn't a synthesizer, because I'd be disappointed(I usually can tell...). He is such a great and diverse composer. Anyway, the sequence is cool and the music is wicked(and weird. Darker than I imagined...) Oh well, enough of my ramblings, here it is. The trailer sequence is in Quicktime and the promo is RealVideo. Ciao.

Updated May 23

-So who else enjoyed the Lone Gunmen in "The X-Files" season finale this Sunday? Hell, they episode was insanely good without them. I thought it was neat that it took our boys to find out where the alien craft was. Just goes to show how good they are... Anyway, look out for an update at Dean's site pretty soon about the series. Ciao.

Updated May 20

-From "The X-Files Official Site":

"THE LONE GUNMEN" SERIES PICKED UP FOR SPRING

Spinning off from "The X-Files," the Lone Gunmen get their own series on the Fox network. Created by Chris Carter, Frank Spotnitz, Vince Gilligan and John Shiban, the new show will air in the beginning of 2001. Dean Haglund, Bruce Harwood and Tom Braidwood play the three paranoid conspiracy theorists that form the editorial staff of a government watchdog newspaper.

-Note: It technically premieres in winter, probably in February. Spring is after the December-February winter period.

-Earlier I had reported that there would be 22 episodes, and before that the series would be a mid-season replacement, thus have 13 episodes. This is do to conflicting reports. Most news articles and the official site for "The X-Files" say it will be a mid-season replacement with a 13 episodes season. At the same time, FOX has it in the FALL section on their site. However, it seems that "The Lone Gunmen" will be a mid-season replacement, which won't appear until late January or early February. :(

Updated May 19

-It's official! "The Lone Gunmen" has been picked up by the FOX network for the 2000-2001 television season. It will air Thursday nights at 8ET/7C(Great, against "Friends" and "WWF Smackdown." We and Chris Carter get screwed again...) Hopefully, this will allow TLG to get the tons of promotion(do to "The X-Files") that "Harsh Realm" never got, but "Millennium" did(something that clearly showed). All I can say is good luck to all of them. Who else thinks this series is gonna rock? What great news!!! :)

-You can find the rest of FOX's fall schedule here.

-In a related story(he he), "The X-Files" has been picked up for an 8th season, with Gillian Anderson and Chris Carter on board, and David Duchovny signed for about half the season. I was hoping that TLG would get TXF old time slot, but since it is continuing... However, it is still unknown whether the Lone Gunmen will appear on the show next season.

-Finally, just a reminder that the Lone Gunmen will be in "The X-Files" season finale "Requiem," which airs May 21. This may be the last time we see them on the show, which they got their start from. And, from the looks of it it will rock, as well as have plenty of the Gunmen for all their fans. Also, David Duchovny will be parting in this episode until he returns in the latter half of next year.

Updated May 16

-From Yahoo! and Variety: "More likely for midseason is the “X-Files” spinoff “The Lone Gunmen.” It’s not yet certain “X-Files” will be back, although most indications are that it will." Hmmm...well, May 18 is when they hold the press conference on "The X-Files" and release the rest of the fall schedule. Is it Thursday yet?

Updated May 12

-Dean Haglund updated his website, which you can find here and on my "Links" page. Apparently, he is going to host a new show about conspiracies around the world and wants people's home videos. Sounds cool, eh? He didn't mention a title or a date or any other info on the project though, so I'll guess we'll just have to wait and see. :)

Updated May 7

-Ok, here's an article from "The 11th Hour" website, or as I call it, the sci-fi magazine for people who don't like sci-fi(ok, maybe you recognized a little bit of harshness there, but I really despise the magazine, but it's my job to post all the news on the Lone Gunmen and related topics, so...), about Glen Morgan and James Wong's take on the Lone Gunmen series(they created the characters).

-Also, from that site is an article about Tom Braidwood and his new movie, "Tilt", which apparently will be finished by March or April 2000.

-Note: The above articles are somewhat old, so excuse me if they have some information that may not apply anymore.

Updated April 29

-The Lone Gunmen will appear in "The X-Files" series and/or season finale, which airs May 21. Cool beans. :) Note: This may be the last time we see these guys if "The X-Files" is not picked up for another year and there is no Lone Gunmen spin-off. :(

Updated April 28

-FOX announces its fall schedule on May 18, so that's when we will find out the fate of "The Lone Gunmen"(as well as "The X-Files," I guess!). Related to this, Dean Haglund said on his website that the pilot would be used as an episode of "The X-Files," if the series is not picked up(assuming it continues into an 8th season. We shall see...) Just FYI.

-I can't believe this site has had over a 100 hits already. Probably the same 10 Gunmen fans checking everyday! :)

-Oh, and I encourage everyone to check out this review of "Time Code 2000" from TvGuide Online. This is the movie I mentioned awhile ago(you can find that news below) that has Zuliekha Robinson(who will play the female lead in "The Lone Gunmen"). It is a very interesting, original movie writtern and directed by Mike Figgis. It features such stars as Selam Hayek, Jeanne Tripplehorn, Holly Hunter, etc. Not a wide-release movie, but I think worth checking out(maybe someone will thank me for promoting this movie later. You never know...). Finally, Zuliekha Robinson plays a bit role as Lester Moore's assistant. This also appears to be her first role, so she must be really good to get a lead part in a spin-off of "The X-Files!"

Updated April 25

-Dean Haglund updated his site today with his thoughts on the pilot. No info though(of course!). Anyway, he was funny as always and you can find that here and on my "Links" page.

Updated April 7

-The pilot finishes shooting today after 15 days of filming. I hope everything went well and wish them the best of luck in the future. I'm expecting Dean Haglund to make an update to his website Monday. You can find the link on the "Links" page, of course. I hope to have more info on the pilot in the next few weeks also. The whole plot of the "Harsh Realm" pilot was posted on the Net two months after it was filmed, so I'm thinking we'll have so info like that in the next few months(although, I personally object to such major spoilers...). Finally, the descision on whether it will be a series will be made at the end of May when FOX releases its fall schedule(maybe they will have decided on the fate of "The X-Files" by then too!).

Updated April 4

-Great news from Cinescape.com! Zuleikha Robinson(Time Code 2000) has joined the cast of "The Lone Gunmen"(this is almost certainly the woman who will play the female Gunmen). Also, veteran director for "The X-Files" and director for "The X-Files" movie, Rob Bowman(who has now become a movie director), is currently directing the pilot. This is great! Finally, some info on the pilot, which is currently in its last week of filming.

-I checked out the site for the movie the above actress in is(it's a bit part) called "Time Code 2000," which I thought sounded familiar and sure enough I had read about if before. It is a very interesting movie starring Selma Hayek and Jeanne Tripplehorn shot in one day, with hand-held digital video cameras, in sequence and real-time, improvised around a short script. Sound cool? Check it out here: Time Code 2000 Official Site

Updated April 1

-Ok, I'm getting bored and this site needs some updated some I'm going to start adding some polls. I hope to have some info on "The Lone Gunmen" pilot sometime after it finishes production next Friday.

-BTW, happy April Fools to everyone!

Updated March 20

-This is great! This site is actually getting some hits. Anyway, the pilot for "Lone Gunmen" started shooting today(good luck to all of them!), so hopefully in the next week or so, I'll get some info on who is directing it and about the actress who plays the female gunman.

Updated March 3

-Thanks to the wonderful XF official site, we have an interview from Vancouver Sun about the Lone Gunmen. Dean is funny, but it says nothing about the series(as expected). Anyway, it's interesting and you can check it out here

-Thanks to Cinescape.com(a great site by the way), we know the production schedule for the pilot. It will be shooting from March 20 to April 7(15 days!) in Vancouver, of course. No word on who the director will be, but I'm sure one has been decided on. Most likely it will be one of the current directors for "The X-Files." This production schedule also probably means that the Lone Gunmen characters will not be appearing in episodes 19 and 20 of "The X-Files," do to the conflicting schedules.

-The script for the pilot is finished, written by veteran "The X-Files" writers Chris Carter, Vince Gilligan, John Shiban, and Frank Spotnitz.
