Jack McPhee - Played by Kerr Smith

Jack and his sister Andie McPhee moved to Capeside to escape the rumors that were spreading around them because of their unstable mother. Andie and Jack had also lost their older brother Tim some time ago in a tragic car accident which also made Andie a bit unstable as when Jack was still strong and trying to keep the family up as well as he could.
In the start when Andie and Jack came in the show there was actually some sort of mix-up with them because in the beginning Andie and Jack were twins, but for some odd reason suddenly Jack was 17-years-old and Andie was 16-years-old! I'd appreciate if somebody knew what was going on in the heads of the writers because this is just not some small mix-up.
Well anyways as Jack became a Capeside resident he first laid his eyes on the beautiful Josephine "Joey" Potter, their relationship grew and it lead to a kiss and it obviously destroyed the happy relationship of Dawson and Joey. Jack was close to Joey for a while until, Pacey and he did a small crime and the their teacher made Jack read a poem they had to write for their class aloud in the class. Jack fell apart mentally at that point because his poem was about another man and it was noted that he was probably homosexual. At first he denied it but after a while he confessed himself being gay. And naturally his relationship with Joey ended then. He all though didn't lose any of his friends (which is very wonderful but I was a bit surprised that they didn't even for a moment start avoiding him.
From that point of his revelation Jack became a serious star of the show, he had a lot of difficulties with the other residents of Capeside. His father didn't accept it at all in the beginning and he actually came to Capeside to take Jack, Andie and their mother away because they weren't stable and everybody else but Jack left. So as Jack stayed in Capeside he lived with Jen at Jen's grandmother's house. Jen also then became a good friend of Jacks and they shared nearly everything with eachother. Jack a bit unwillingly joined the football team as Mitch Leery was impressed by his skills. Jack also faced a lot of resistance while he became a star of the football team. Dawson Leery did a document also about Jack, and in the document Jack was fighting against stereotypes and it worked out very well and Jack got a lot of feedback to the document that was shown in TV. In one of the feedbacks another gay guy came to Jack and after a while of discussion Andie worked out a date for Jack but Jack wasn't ready to face another gay and he backed out just at the door to the cafe where he was supposed to meet the other guy.
As Jack was touring Boston's nightlife he faced some gays in a club but he still wasn't ready and as he was returning back to Capeside he met in the bus another gay called "Ethan", this was actually Jack's first time he talked to an another gay and they chatted the way and Jack got a bit more self-confident. Jack and Ethan met later again when Ethan returned to Capeside to a music festival "Capefest", their relationship is slowly improving and you'll never know what tomorrow brings to our screens.

This is the poem that got Jack to confess himself being gay
Today by Jack McPhee

Today.
Today was a day.
The world got smaller, darker.
I grew more afraid.
Not of what I am, but of what I could be.

poem.gif (24322 bytes)I loosen my collar to take a breath.
My eyes fade.
And I see... Him.
The image of perfection.
His frame strong, his lips smooth.
And I keep thinking, What am I so afraid of?

I wish I could escape the pain,
but these thoughts invade my head.
Bound to my memory, they're like shackles of guilt.
Oh, God, please set me free.

Free from the pain and this guilt
So that I may face
Tomorrow.
