Parker is sitting at her desk, looking at the pictures of her family. She looks out the window and wonders where the time has gone. Her mind begins to wonder back to the Tina Turner concert where it all began. She slips the Wildest Dreams CD in the player and starts to sing along. She starts to have flash backs and thinking to herself ‘I was pregnant then and didn’t even know it’. Then, the thoughts of Jarod trying to win her heart over made her smile.
As she walks down memory lane, her wedding day comes to mind. She remembers that day like it was yesterday. She stood before a justice of the peace with Jarod by her side and vowed to love him and no one else. She wore her best navy suit not the regular white. It wasn’t like she was pure for the white anyway. She was carrying his child. Even though she didn’t want to admit it, that baby was made from love not a one night stand. Remembering after the wedding, how they discussed their future together. ‘They were going to change the world.’ she remembered. She really connected to Jarod that day. For the first time in her life she felt loved and cared for.
‘What about the birth of her daughter? How could she forget that?’ she thought to herself. That was one of the most important days of her life, the first time she held Catherine in her arms. Seeing Jarod playing with his daughter made her heart melt. She wished she had that relationship with her father. She still gets jealous over Jarod and Catherine. Then, the birth of her son. He favored his father so much and still does. ‘Oh, how she wished she could hold them again.’ Then she thinks to herself, ‘I hope I was a good mother. I tried to be. I have watched them grow from babies to young adults. They still make me proud’.
The thought of her father comes to mind. ‘We were so mean to each other. I do wish we could have seen things differently back then and now it’s to late.’ Then she thinks, ‘Oh, how could we? Jarod opened my eyes and I was to scared to tell anyone. Nothing could have changed my father, mother tried and it got her killed.’ Trying not to dwell on her mother’s death she starts to think about the Centre.
‘The Centre,’ she thought, ‘is something that has changed for the better.’ She thinks about all the people’s lives that have changed since she cleaned house. The children have learned how their abilities work for them and others. The experiments are safe and helpful not harming them.
Then she remembers her second wedding. She and Jarod stood before a preacher. She seemed more scared now than before. Jarod stood there holding her hand and gazing into her beautiful blue eyes. He just smiled and acted just as happy as the first time, they said I do. She wore a cream colored, sleveless simple dress. Since they were already married she didn’t see the need to get fancy and fancy wasn’t her style anyway. Sydney stood beside Jarod and Debbie stood beside her. She really didn’t have anyone else except Broots and he wouldn’t do it. Catherine was still too small and little Sydney wasn’t thought of then. They wanted to pledge their love to each other in front of friends since their first marriage was a secret. They wanted everyone to know they were happy and could be happy now that Mr. Raines and her father were gone. ‘No one could tear them apart now.’ she thought.
As her mind kept wondering, Angelo looks through the vent and noticed she was finally happy. That was something he thought he would never see from the “Miss Parker” her always knew. Ever night she would leave him a box of cracker jacks before leaving herself. She knew it was his favorite. He always knew what time she left so he was there watching and waiting. He noticed a tear rolling down her check and falling to the floor. He watched and wondered what happen.
She sat there watching the sun going down and thought of Sydney. He was the only one that cared for her besides Jarod and now he was gone. She still expects him to walk through that door but instead it’s Jarod. He walks in and goes over to her desk and says, “Are you ready to go home?”
“Yes, let me gather my things.” she replied as she wiped the tears from her eyes.
“Are you okay?” Jarod asked her.
“Yes, I was just thinking about Sydney. I miss him a lot.” she replied back as they walk toward the door.
“Me too.” Jarod answered as he puts his arm around his wife. “How was your day?” he asked as he opened the door.
“It was nice.” she replied as she turns off the lights and took one more look at her office before shutting the door.
