Two months had
past since Parker was trapped in sub-level 27 with her
father. She missed her family
so much. Sitting at her desk day dreaming about her daughter, the phone
rang.
"What?"
"Hey, what are you doing?"
"Thinking about you and Catherine." She answered depressed.
"Hey, hang in there. I have something plan for us."
"What?"
"I can't tell you. It's a surprise."
"Come on, Jarod."
"I have to go."
"No. Please wait. I want to hear your voice a little longer."
"I have to go. You will be receiving a package soon." He hung up the
phone.
"Damn it!" She shouted as the call was disconnected.
Her office door open and Broots and Sydney walked in.
"This just came for you."
"Is is from..."
"Yeah." Broots answered as she grabbed the package from him.
She opened it to find a hospital bracelet along with some photos.
"Broots...."
"I know. I'm on it." He took the bracelet and left.
Sydney looked at her, "Are you okay?"
"Yeah. I'm fine." She picked up one of the photographs and stared at the
little girl.
"Okay, Jarod what are telling me this time?"
Broots entered her office again. "Hey, I found out who it belonged
to."
"Who?"
"Your daughter." He answered slowly.
"What? Was she sick?"
"I don't know."
"Well, find out!" She yelled.
"Okay, calm down."
In the meanwhile, Jarod went down to a local store to pick up some
things for his daughter.
The clerk behind the store saw him enter.
"Hello Jarod. How's the baby?"
"Fine." He smiled.
After gathering up the things he needed, he paid for them.
"Hey, will you do me a favor?"
"For you Jarod, anything. Can I hold her?"
"Sure." He handed Catherine to the woman behind the counter.
"What did you want?"
"Oh yes. There will be a woman and two men coming in sometime to ask
about me. I want to
know if you will give this to the lady." He handed her an envelope.
"Sure. I will be happy to. Do you know when they will come?"
"No, but I figure it will be in the next day or two."
She handed the baby back to Jarod. "Thanks for letting me hold her."
"You're welcome."
Jarod took his daughter back to where she was safe.
The next day Parker, Broots, and Sydney walked into a hospital that
Broots traced the bracelet
to.
"Have you seen this man?" Parker asked as she handed a photograph of
Jarod to the nurse.
"Yeah, he was in sometime ago with a baby."
"Can you tell me where he is now?"
"No, but you can check with medical records they would have an address
on him."
"Thanks."
They walked through the hospital until they found medical records.
Walking in, Parker asked
the first person she saw. It wasn't long until they got the information
they wanted.
Sitting outside a store Broots said, "Do you think
this is the right
address?"
"I don't know but we will soon find out." She opened the car door and
walked in the store. Leaving Broots and Sydney behind.
"Excuse me, have you seen this man?" Broots entered the building about that time.
She pulled the photograph from
his pocket and handed it to her.
"Yeah, that's Jarod. He told me you would be coming in here."
Parker looked at her funny. "Do you know where I can find him?"
"Well, he was staying across the street."
"Thanks." Parker turned to walk out.
"Miss."
Parker turned around.
"Jarod wanted me to give this to you." She handed Parker the envelope.
She quickly opened it and saw a picture of Jarod holding their
daughter.
Tears formed in her
eyes.
"You are her mother, aren't you?"
Parker shook her head yes. "Thank you." She wiped the tears from her
face.
"You have a beautiful daughter."
"Thank you." Parker said again before exiting.
"Are you okay?" Sydney asked as she caught up with them.
"Yeah."
"Now what?"
"We go across the street then we go to Holiday Inn."
"What?" Broots asked.
"Because that is what the back of the picture says." She handed it to
Sydney.
Once they went through Jarod's room, they headed
to the Holiday Inn.
Parker walked up to the
front desk. "We need two rooms."
"Okay, do you have a reservations?"
"Yes and No."
The clerk looked at Parker.
"Well, I have a reservations for room 217 and they need a room."
"Okay let me see what we have available." The clerk typed on the
computer. "Okay it looks
like I have two rooms available."
"What are they?"
"Room 330 and room 226."
"They will take 226."
"What is your room under?"
"Parker."
"Okay, Miss Parker. Your room is ready but it will be a few minutes on
the other one. Is that
okay?"
"That's fine." Sydney answered.
The clerk handed them the keys and they headed up the elevator.
"Parker, what are we doing here?" Broots asked.
"You'll see Broots."
They found room 217 and went in. There was a note taped to the adjoining
door. Parker opened
the door the see Jarod and her daughter sitting on the bed.
"It's about time you found us."
"Jarod." She ran to him and gave him a hug. "I missed you so much." She
whispered.
"I missed you too."
"Jarod." Broots said.
"Hello, Mr. Broots. Sydney."
"Can I see her?" Sydney asked.
"Sure if you can get her away from her mother long enough." Parker held
her daughter tight.
"I missed her so much. She has grown."
"Yeah, tell me about."
"Jarod, tell me about the hospital bracelet. Why didn't you tell me she
was sick?"
"Well, she wasn't actually."
Parker glared at him.
"Well, you see I found out there was a doctor treating children for
something that wasn't wrong
with them so Catherine and I checked it out."
Sydney and Broots looked at each other. "I think we will take Catherine
in here." Sydney
replied as he took her from Parker's hands. They shut the adjoining
door. They knew it was going
to be ugly in there in a matter of seconds.
"You did what?" She yelled.
"You heard me."
"Jarod, what if he would have hurt her?"
"He didn't. She was safe."
"Yeah, but what if he did?"
"Melissa, calm down. It is okay. Nothing happened and she is fine."
"Jarod..."
"I know. She's my daughter too."
Calming down a little.
"Well, I guess you are right but I don't
appreciate you using her
like that, though."
He grabbed her, pulling her close to him.
"I love you."
"I love you too but don't think you are getting off the hook that easy."
**********
The next morning, Jarod woke to his wife snuggled next to him. She
looked so beautiful and peaceful, he
hated to bother her but couldn't resist
it. He laid beside her and ran
his finger across
her neck. She moved slightly but never woke so, he did it again.
Finally, after the fifth time
her eyes opened.
"What are you doing?"
"Watching you sleep."
"Yeah, right."
"I was. I swear."
"Leave me alone." She rolled over and fell back to sleep.
It wasn't long until she heard him snoring. She rolled back over and
snuggled up against his
warm body again. She glanced over at the clock that was sitting beside
the bed.
"8:30." She couldn't believe she slept that long. Glancing up at Jarod,
she ran her fingers through
his chest hair. She kissed his chest then laid her head back down.
He didn't move. She raised up and kissed his lips.
"Now, look at you." He said without opening his eyes.
"Jarod, it's time to put that plan into place."
"Okay, I will start on it later. Right now I just want to lay beside
you."
She laid on her back looking up at the ceiling. "Jarod."
"Mmm."
"It's been a while."
He rolled over on his side. "Are you trying to tell me, you want me to
touch you now?"
"Yes." She looked into his eyes. "I want you to take me."
His fingers circled her shoulder before he kissed it. "Melissa."
"Mmm..."
"When did you start sleeping topless?"
"Only when I'm with you. Why?"
"I was just wondering. I haven't seen you in a while."
"Well, let me answer that again. Last night is when I started sleeping
topless. Is that better?"
"I guess." He whispered. He pulled the covers back slightly.
"What are you doing?"
"I seeing if you sleep bottomless too." He grinned.
"I have on clothes." She smirked back.
"Darn." He whispered as he kissed her again. She wrapped her arms
around him and rolled over
to where she was on top of him. Kissing his lips, "This plan is going to
work, right."
"Trust me." He answered as he took her into his arms and made love to
her.
The End!
