An Adventure in the Life of Briana
Spike growled at the light that came in through the newly opened door. His
response was a giggle. He opened his eyes slowly to find big bright blue ones
staring back.
"Do it again!"
Spike let out another growl for her entertainment.
"Now make yourself go grrrrr."
Spike slid back into game face. It was almost humiliating. It was supposed to
scare people. Make them run with fear. Make them scream. But all it did to a
6 year old girl was make her giggle.
"Come on pet. Let's go," Spike said and stood up pulling the little girl up
with him.
"Daddy," she whispered, as they walked into the living room.
"Huh?"
"Can I have some cookies?" she whispered in his ear.
"I think we could arrange that. But let's not tell your Mom this time. Last
time she almost turned me into dust." He dropped her into a chair and pulled
out some cookies.
"You're silly. Dust." She smiled.
"Yeah, dust." He nodded and sat on the chair next to her.
"Briana," said a scolding, half asleep voice.
Briana gasped and put her hands behind her back. "Huh?"
"What are you eating?"
"Nothing," she lied.
"Well, try again because it's all over your face."
Briana opened her mouth and shut it then opened it again. "He gave it to me."
"Traitor," Spike said.
"Spike you did this yesterday morning too!"
"Willow, it's okay. It's just a cookie. I mean she isn't a regular little
kid. She won't get fat."
"She will if you keep shoving this stuff down her throat." She tapped her
forehead.
"Oh," he went back to his human face.
"Noooo. I like him better the other way! He looks funny!" Briana pouted and
shoved the cookie in her mouth quickly as Willow tried to grab it.
Willow frowned, then turned to Spike. "You hear that Spike? You look funny in
game face. What would the rest of the demons think if they found out a little
6 year old laughed at you?" Willow smirked.
"That's why, I am going back to bloody bed. She needs to stop waking me up
and wake you up instead. I sleep during the day," he said, getting up from
the chair and walked back to their room.
Willow turned to Briana. "Come on let's get you dressed," she said, taking
her hand.
"Are we picking up Alex?!" Briana asked excitedly.
"Yes, we are picking him up today." Willow nodded.
"How come he can't be in my class?"
"Because he is year younger then you," Willow said and started sifting
through the drawers for clothes.
"Sooooooo."
"Come here," Willow said and kneeled down.
"Do you want to fix you hair pretty today?" she asked, as she pulled her
daughter's nightgown off.
"No. Alex says I look like a girl. I can do it," she said and finished
putting her shirt on herself.
"You are a girl." Willow laughed.
"So. I don't want to look like one. I wanna put on my clothes."
Willow handed her her shorts and sandals.
"All right. I won't make you look like a girl today. Now you finish up, and I
will get you some breakfast ready."
"K! I don't want cereal though. We have that all the time," she complained.
~~~~~
"Open up!" Briana yelled, as she was pounded on the door.
"Hurry momma and open the door!" yelled a voice from the other side of the
door.
The door opened and Briana ran in. "Look what I am bringing today, Alex," she
said excitedly and ran into his room with him close behind her.
"Geez, Cordelia, you didn't open the door fast enough," Willow scolded her
jokingly.
"Well it was kind of hard too. Once your's started yelling mine came running
to the door practically knocking me down," she said, walking over to the
couch and then sat down.
"Where's Xander?" Willow asked, as she sat down.
"Sleeping. Where else?" Cordelia shrugged and pushed her hair back.
"Briana!" Willow yelled.
"Huh?" she said, as she skidded to a stop.
"Go wake Uncle Xander up," Willow said and smiled.
Briana eyes brightened, and she ran in there just behind Alex who was
thrilled with the idea of jumping on his father's bed.
Briana jumped on the bed at the same time as Alex. "Come on Uncle Xander,
wake up!" she yelled and squealed happily as she jumped up and down.
"Yeah, daddy, wake up!" Alex said and toppled over onto his father.
"What the hell?" Xander asked and jumped up. "What is wrong with you two?" he
asked and rubbed his face.
Alex jumped on his lap at the same moment Briana jumped on his back. "My
momma told us to come wake you up!" she yelled into his ear.
"Well, I'll have to thank her. Come on let's go," he placed them both on the
floor and walked into the living room. "Nice Will. I really appreciate it."
He combed his hand through his hair.
"Anytime. We were up. Why not you?" She ignored his growl and turned to the
kids.
"Ready to go?" Willow asked as she stood up.
"Yeah!" they both yelled.
"Today I get to play house!" Briana said and she bounced out the door.
"Sooooo. We don't even have to work like you do. We get to play." Alex stuck
his tongue out at her and grabbed his bag from his mother.
"Yeah, but that's because you're a baby. I am a big kid." She stuck her
tongue back at him.
"Yeah, well, you know what....."
~~~~~
Briana ran out of the school into the yard and scanned it anxiously for her
friend. She spotted him sticking his tongue out at two little girls.
"Alex!" she yelled, as she ran over there.
He turned his attention away from the two girls and ran over to her. "Hey!
Where is your snack?" he asked confused. Usually she would give him what she
didn't finish.
"Oh! I'll go get it" she said and bounded back into the school.
When she ran back out, Alex wasn't waiting in the place she left him. He was
near one of the older boys. Nobody liked that boy. So why would Alex be
talking to him she wondered. She shoved her snack in her pocket and walked
over to the two boys.
"You are a baby," the big kid said to Alex.
"No I am not! I am only a year younger then you!" he yelled back almost on
the verge of crying.
"Yes. you are. Look at you. You are crying," he said and stepped up to Alex.
"He is not a baby," Briana said angrily. She hated mean boys. Especially this
one. He had stepped on her foot yesterday. And on purpose.
"Yes, he is. And so are you. So ha," he said meanly and crossed his arms.
"You better be nice. My daddy will hurt you," she said confidently. Her daddy
said no one could be mean to her. She was special.
"No, he can't! Your daddy is a baby too!"
"No he isn't my daddy has long teeth and he growls and he could hurt you
really bad," she said and stepped up to him. Her daddy also told her that she
didn't have to put up with mean kids.
"You are a liar," he spat out.
"I am not!" she yelled back. She wasn't a liar. She was telling the truth.
"Yes, you are!" he screamed back and shoved her down to the ground.
Briana gasped, as she hit the ground roughly. Her daddy also told her to
fight back. She growled at him imitating her father as best as she could. She
jumped up and landed on top of him causing them both to topple down to the
ground. She punched him hard in the face. Before she could cause and further
damage a teacher pulled her up.
Briana breathed in and out quickly and her face had become red with anger.
She looked down at the crying boy and stated simply. "You, are the baby."
~~~~~
"Ms. Rosenberg?" the principal stepped in front of her before she walked into
the class.
"Yes?" Willow asked confused.
"I need to talk to you." She led Willow further down the hall. "Earlier
today from what your daughter and Alex have told us, Alex was being picked on
by one of the 8 years olds. He told us that she had come up to him as saying
things like her father was going to hurt him because he had sharp teeth and
growled?"
Willows eyes opened widely. "You know how little kids are. Always making up
stories," she smiled nervously. But the principal seemed to believe her
because she continued.
"Well, he called her a liar and pushed her."
"Oh my god. Is she okay? Why didn't anyone call me?" Willow asked worriedly,
as her motherly instinct taking over.
"Because she wasn't hurt. She jumped on top of him and punched him
exceptionally hard on his nose. It even started to bleed," the principal said
a little amazed. This little six year old girl and beat up an 8 year old boy.
It had surprised her. Usually Briana was one of the better ones.
"She hit him?"
The principal nodded. "Her teacher put her in time out and told her she could
go back and play sooner if she apologized. But she refused to saying that
mean boys didn't deserve an apology."
Willow was upset with Briana. She had always told her fighting wasn't the
answer. But unfortunately she was a daddy's girl. And well, that combined
with the fact that she was a slayer and half vamp was bound to create a girl
with an explosive temper that was a force itself to be reckoned with. But at
the same time she was proud of her. She fought back. She didn't let anyone
hurt her. Afterall, it was in her instinct to fight back.
"I will have a talk with her, I promise. But I think you may want to make
sure the other child stays away from her," she said and stood up and quickly
left the room trying her best to contain a smiled. Who would have known that
Willow Rosenberg's little girl would be such a 'bad ass' as Xander so
wonderfully put it a while back.
~~~~~
"Well, Spike, I hope you are happy with yourself," Willow said, as she walked
in the door.
Spike turned to face her. She looked a little angry. No, that wasn't good. He
looked down to Briana who was standing there quietly. "What happened?"
"Well 'your daughter' got in a fight today."
Spikes eyes widened. "She doesn't look hurt."
"That's because she isn't. Some 8 year old was picking on Alex. Guess what
she told him? She told the boy that her daddy with long fangs that can growl
was going to hurt him."
Spike grimaced. He understood why she was mad. That really shouldn't have
been out in the open.
"So he called her a liar and pushed her. Well, she jumped right back up and
jumped ON him and punched him. He bled Spike," she said, glaring at him.
Spike knew a normal parent should be upset with there child. But he wasn't
normal. The only thing he felt was pride. He tried his best to contain a a
smiled.
Briana saw her father start to smiled. She looked up at her mother and gave
her the same evil smiled that Spike used all to often.
"Briana," Willow fussed at her.
She immediately stopped smiling and turned away.
"She also told me that you told her to fight back."
"Well, she should!" he exclaimed. He wasn't going to be raising a wimp. She
might be a slayer, but she was going to be his bloody slayer and she wasn't
going to be a wimp.
Briana brightened at hearing her father's words. "See momma! Daddy said so!
He told me to hit them in the bloody nose!"
Willow opened her mouth and closed it again. She was trying her best not to
smile. The sound of her father's words coming out of her mouth was to much.
"Briana."
"Huh?" she asked and bit her lip. One of the traits she had inherited from
her mother.
"Just do mommy a favor. The only time you can fight back is to protect
yourself. Okay? Don't hurt people to be mean. It isn't nice."
Briana smiled. "Okay momma! I don't want to be mean. He was be mean first."
Willow nodded and Briana ran into her room.
Willow turned to Spike who was standing there waiting for the anger she was
about to unleash upon him. But it never came. "So I am not going to me
staked?"
"No. I'm glad she fought back for herself. But I can't just pat her on the
back and say good job. That comes when she fights demons," she smiled and
walked up to him.
"So you're not mad?" he asked and smirked.
"Nope. Although I am a little upset about the fact that she told people about
you."
He wrapped his arms around her waist. "Willow. She's 6. I don't think they
believe her," he said, trying to comfort her.
"I know. But if the wrong person found out then it could mean trouble." She
wrapped her arms around his waist and pulled herself to him.
"All right. We are going to have to have a talk with her. But look I am
starting to feel like a bloody softy in this house. A 6 year old laughing at
one of the oldest vampires doesn't boost your ego. So I think I am going to
go out and find something bad to kill."
"She laughs at Angel," she pointed out.
"Yeah, but that bastard is a blood softy pet."
Willow pulled away from him and looked up at him. "That's another thing. You
are having your child talking like a 'bloody Brit'."
"No harm in it pet," he said and pulled away.
"Uhhhhh Spike!" she said and stomped her foot on the floor.
He walked back over to her. "You look so cute when you are angry. Stomp
again."
She glared at him, but he only laughed. He reached down and claimed her lips
giving her a long kiss that left her breathless and wanting more. "They'll be
more of that later if you are a good girl."
She smirked. "Yes sir."
"Well love I'm off." He grabbed a pack of cigarettes and stuck them in his
coat pocket.
"Hey, be sure to check around the house. I'm still worried from a couple of
weeks ago. That vampire creeping around the house has made me paranoid. What
if it wasn't random? What if they where looking for something?" she asked
worriedly and followed him to the door.
"Well, if he was, he isn't going to be telling what he found, will he pet? Be
back when I've had a sufficient amount of violence," he said and shut the
door behind him.
Willow locked the door and sighed. She dreaded the when the time would come
when this happy home she had, disappeared and demons and hellmouths would
enter her life once again.
The End
