An Undeniable Predestination

A cool breeze nipped excitedly at the lone form standing in the empty desert of Roswell, New Mexico. The sounds of insects and large predators were not able to draw his attention from the enlarging star in the sky. Patience was his virtue, it had been over thirty years that he had awaited the signal of the last hybrid to land on the Earth. Now, after several years of waiting, he had been contacted. Hours passed, but they seemed like only moments to him compared to the wait he had endured. Order would be followed, and he would not break protocol. As commanded, he would serve his people and protect the royal four. Except he also had duties, and those duties were to his family. He would die to protect the ones that would save his planet, and he would die to protect his own blood, whichever came first. All thoughts were halted by the star that was beginning to take shape of something that was more then just a ball of gas or some other far off planet. The vast desert remained in silence, but the air shifted and the desert sounds almost became nervous of the alien arrival.

The nurse in her candy striped uniform cradled the sleeping newborn in her arms protectively, almost fearing that the human disguise would hide nothing. Once to her destination she looked into the glass window and surveyed the room full of the newborn human babies. Without wasting a moment she reached out and felt out the life in the room. At the sense of life dampening in one child the nurse became filled with hope, at the expense of another parents loss. Placing her hand on the doorknob she unlocked it mentally with an unseen force. Once into the room all onlookers outside and inside the walls saw nothing of the nurse walking quietly in the room. Walking past the attending nurse, who was oblivious to the life altering act going on before her, the alien women walked quickly to her goal. Once next to the crib she lifted the now deceased baby from were it lay and replaced it with the live one in her arms. Smoothing the blanket out with the little love the women had, she then stared down at the now waking baby.

"You will be safe now little one. On the honor of my sister I will protect you." With that Nasedo turned from the fussing baby and left without anyone ever aware of his presence.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As Max supported Nasedo's dying body in his arms and absorbed the mans last words he almost slumped over until he felt a a rough grip on his arms. Pulled away from his sorrow for the moment Max looked down with hope in his eyes as Nasedo's eyes opened once.
"Max." Nasedo held on, and pushed passed the darkening in his vision and the pain taking him over, because he refused to fail.
"I'm here." The response was choked out as Max's emotions began to take him over, and the fear of being the leader began to load onto his shoulders.
"Your sister, you need to protect her." With those last words Nasedo relaxed his human body and with one last painful thought he realized Max had no idea what he was talking about.
~~~~~~~~~~~~

Destiny couldn't be avoided, and Nasedo had learned that from the moment Tess and he arrived back in Roswell. In his mind the whole situation had been in a state of crisis. He had two missions, one he had failed, and ironically it was the one that mattered most to his heart. He hadn't been able to protect her from being a target, and her ignorance of her true self made her even more of a target in that she knew not how to protect herself. So he could do very little except watch her. He saw her destiny began to play out, and the destiny of the others. And when the skins came to town Nasedo knew it would be little time before the royal four were ripped apart once again.

"Don't tell me you believe this." Maria scoffed and shook her head. Glaring angrily at the dry skinned alien Maria continued. "Are you trying to make his head any bigger then it is?" Turning back to Michael, Maria tried to talk some sense into him. "Look Michael, these are skins, I don't care if they are rebels are not. Max, is your best friend!"

Without looking at the excited blond next to him Michael responded. "He hasn't been that for a long time now."

"Michael, you have to believe me, it was always like that, and it is now. You have to get passed the people holding you back, you are our leader." Courtney eyes pleaded with her hero, but for some reason she almost shied away from the glare Maria was giving her.

"What do you mean it was always like that?" Curiosity was peaking inside of Michael and he found himself wanting to know more about his past.

"Max was always holding you back, trying to be the leader. The women you had loved had done the same, she had not given you the support you needed and instead sided with Max. Imagine how different things might have been if you would have taken your place and led us, overthrowing Max." Once again he was being held back though, by his leader, by his friends, and by the blond bimbo at his side.

"What does Isabelle have to do with this, she has never held me back like Max has?" Michael heard another exasperated sigh from his side but he ignored it, he was to intent on learning what really happened in his past.

"Not Isabelle, you never loved her, as Max never loved Tess. You fell in love with some outcast from the royal family. I don't know the details, but she held you back as did Max, and even after her assassination she still held you back." The only satisfaction Courtney got out of the whole story was seeing the look on the worthless humans face standing next to Michael.

"Great, another freakin trifling hoe. I mean jeez Michael you really ranked up back then in the whole destiny and in love area didn't you!!!" Maria felt her blood boil to an extreme. Finding out he was destined to be with Isabelle was bad enough, but finding out that he had been in love with a women who had better control of him then Maria did was worse.

"Maria shut up!" Finally looking at her Michael glared angrily down at her, her face mirrored exactly what he knew appeared on his own which could best be described as annoyance, anger and confusion. Except on hers Michael detected a degree of fear. Turning back to Courtney Michael allowed his face to soften slightly. "Assassinated for what?"

"No one ever knew. It wasn't by any of the rebels. Because they knew you would never support them if they killed her. There was always suspicions that she had been involved with something with someone high up in the royal family. Before her death things had been worsening in the family, but after her death it seemed the family fought amongst themselves more. But all it ever was was speculation. Little changed after. You remained with Max as his pet slave unwillingly to help us.

"No...no...no way. No, this is just part of your plan to divide and conquer." Michael had to regain control, right now the others were who knew where. Whether they held him back or not he couldn't abandon them now.

"I knew you weren't ready to hear this." Courtney had the sinking feeling he would never be ready.

Ignoring the comment Michael went strait for his goal. "What's in Copper Summit, Arizona?"

"Copper Summit's just some old tourist trap." Except she knew it was much more then that and not anytime in the life she had left in that pitiful husk did she want to step foot into that town.

"What's there? "

"I'd stay away from there." The warning wasn't going to be enough, no matter what planet, what body, or what year, their heroic leader would always by under the foot of his leader.

"Why?"

"Yeah, why?" Maria butted in after finally getting over Michael's past for the moment.

"Let's just say there aren't any Michael-worshippers in Copper Summit."

Nicholas turned away from the from the bus and the skins he had just given order to and looked at the unwelcome guest. The skin looked slightly intimidating, especially since his husk was in human standards in its thirties. His build was mild, nothing spectacular compared to other males on the earth. He looked rather average and even more bland with the somber look on his face. "Now where was I? Oh yes, your reason for being here. I find it very hard to believe Khavar would risk sending your here."

"Because your ignorance of the current situation is even more dangerous then my arrival here on this Earth." Bakeel shared the same untrusting look as Nicholas did. But Nicholas distrust stemmed from his fear of being replaced. The small husk suited the sniveling little snot. Back home Nicholas had always been ready to jump into some scandal or dispose of someone on the other side by some sort of mean, most likely his own. It wasn't that Bakeel wasn't for destroying the other side, but he chose to go about it the right way and take no unnecessary risks. Nicholas didn't just want to be rid of them, he wanted to destroy them in some dramatic fashion as if he was the most powerful and fearful of them all. His attitude and facial expressions supported that. He had always had a habit of trying scare someone into their place with the words and intimidation looks. Bakeel had no use for such things. It was his goal to get the job done and with no complications. Which is why he was there in the first place. The little shit was to caught up in his own bruised ego to even sense what was around him.

"My ignorance." Nicholas scoffed. Choosing to ignore the comment Nicholas went on. "This situation is under control, I will get rid of the royal four."

Bakeel was normally a well composed person and rarely allowed his emotions to be shown, expect Nicholas continued to think he was some all powerful being and that when Bakeel laughed. "You are such a little fool. You will not get rid of the royal four. You can't even get rid of them as four defenseless teenagers that lack in training and any memory of what they once were and what they still are."

Nicholas felt his patience being pushed to the limit. And with the destruction of the harvest he was more irritable then usual. "Don't push me, I am at my limit here. I want to see you try to dispose of the four of them."

"All you will do is hurt yourself. Start small, break them apart, don't just attack. You objective is the granolith, or have you forgotten?" Bakeel knew the ultimate object for Nicholas. That was the destruction of the royal four by his hands.

"I have not forgotten." Nicholas growled out, except he knew very well that his own personal feeling towards the situation were invading his job.

"I think you have. And what of Valandra, do you not wish to have her back with us and out of her brothers grasp?"

"Of course I do, but it is going to be hard considering she has no clue as to who and what she was. Why would she come to us when all she has ever known was her brother?"

Bakeel looked at the boy intently. "Let me take care of that. Then we use what they don't know against them. The plan is in motion and no one, not even you knows of what will happen weeks from now."

"Weeks from now they will be gone. By tomorrow they will be gone, I have made sure of that." This plan was would awaken their fear when everything they ever knew would be gone.

"You will fail. Destiny has not even started to claim the chosen four. It is not your time to defeat them. Because destiny has other factors that you are not even aware. And until they follow their path you will continue to fail. And your ignorance of the real situation is your failure." Bakeel ended the statement with no dramatic tone, our shocking facial expression as Nicholas had become accustomed to do. It was a fact that had to be told.

"And that leads us back to the reason you are here, and that is to make me aware of something that I have no idea about. Am I right?" Nicholas questioned, his eyed wide waiting for the explanation.

"You are correct. But I know you, and I know you will abuse this information." Turning his head and spotting the bus being load Bakeel began drawing and end to the discussion. "You fail and realize that you cannot defeat them be your own means, and I will get Valandra back, you will then be told of the situation." Turning away from the boy Bakeel made his way towards the bus.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"All right Mr. I'll get Valandra back, do your stuff cause here she is." Stepping out of the isle Nicholas allowed Bakeel through.
Bakeel looked down at the girl with mild interest. She was already very pretty but with womanhood on its way she would be beautiful. And with the return of her memory she would once again serve with Khavar against her brother.
"What are you going to do that will make her remember?" Nicholas questioned from behind Bakeel.
"Something you could do if you had half the patience." Ignoring Nicholas's angry glare Bakeel went on. "You rape the mind, I search and pry. My goal isn't to do damage but to allow the mind to open itself up to me. Those memories are hidden from her, and they would be hidden from you also with your crude way of finding them." Kneeling down in front of the girl he placed a hand on her head and began slowly to search as he continued to talk. "Her mind will be relaxed and open to me and when I do find the memories I will strike my hardest to release them. Now no more, this will take some time."
"Yea whatever I'm going to find the other three then." With that last statement Nicholas stepped out of the bus and back into the deserted town of Roswell not even hearing the gasp from Isabelle as her mind was invaded.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Bakeel watched from the door of the bus as Valandra walked away. Her stride was confident and held the demand of respect and power it always had. Once her eyes had opened and the sweet smile covered her face Bakeel knew she had the idea of what she was and what she was to do. As she once again joined the other three Nicholas' plan would fail and if he was destroyed in the process so much more the better. With that thought Bakeel couldn't help but smile. Every once in a while he allowed himself that much. He had when he took Nasedo's life. The man seemed to die right there as Bakeel whispered to him that he knew about the fifth alien. And with that statement Bakeel had quickly pulled from Nasedo's mind the image of the fifth alien. After days of watching the life of Roswell, New Mexico Bakeel looked on in amazement as destiny once again worked in the same way it had so many years ago.

Jumping onto the small wooden platform attached to the sign Maria hurriedly tried to clip the jumper cables onto the green rod. With disappointment she had soon realized it wasn't going to work. Quickly thinking she clipped them together and pushed herself up on her toes. Moving fast, out of fear of disappearing just as Liz and Kyle had done moments before, Maria placed the connecting clips on top of the rod. After sliding it on Maria jumped down and watched on with fear and anxiety. After only a moment of painful waiting it exploded.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"I deserve an explanation." Nicholas demanded as he dropped his bag to the ground. The town was once again full of humans and Nicholas now found himself retreating from it en route to New York.
"There is no explanation. What better way for her to deceive then for her to make you believe she was still ignorant of her true self." At the arriving bus Bakeel stepped forward away from the ego bruised twit.
"Okay then if she is Valandra why is she staying while we travel to New York?" Nicholas asked. To many things were going on that he had no idea about and he didn't like it.
"It's all a part of the path, you will see." Bakeel continued to look down the street at the large transportation machine the humans called a bus.
"You still haven't told me your real reason for being here." Patience was far from Nicholas' virtues and he becoming irritable with not knowing what was going on made the whole situation even worse.
"All in good time. In the mean time we go to New York for the summit. The duplicates there should be making their move and soon everything will come together."
