DANIEL DAVIS in TEXAS 1980

He played Eliot Carrington in this soap opera.

The following is a synopsis of a Texas episode that Daniel Davis was in as Eliot Carrington from Soap Opera Digest; November 10, 1981.

He played an escaped war prisoner from Vietnam and the only thing that kept him going was to see his son, Dennis, again. I don't know if he was married to the mother, Iris, or not, but since this is a soap, by the time he came back she was involved with someone else.

Dennis is now married to Paige, but they are estranged. And someone named Peter is mentioned, but I have no idea who he is, just that he likes Paige.

And now, back to our scheduled program...

Paige is shocked when Peter admits that Dennis was part of the scheme to embarass her at The Top of the World Club. Paige won't believe him. But why does he (Peter) continue to badger her? "I intend to have you one way or another," Peter tells Paige.

After some difficult soul-searching, Paige realizes she must tell Eliot the truth about her past. She won't let lies destroy her friendship with him. Nervously, Paige explains that when she was in Hollywood she slept with a number of producers to ease the way for Peter's film deals. Eliot is sympathetic. He would never stop caring for Paige. But he is disturbed by Dennis' involvement in all this.

When Eliot meets with Dennis, he admits that he set the whole thing up.
"Why?" Eliot demands.
"Because I want you to see Paige for the tramp she is! I don't want her to ruin your life the way she ruined mine!"

Eliot is very concerned. What Dennis did was sick and disgusting - he needs help! Dennis is appalled. Paige is turning his father against him, too!

Eliot visits Iris with this news. Surely Iris must see that Dennis hasn't been himself. He's obsessed with getting back at Paige. When Iris meets with Dennis, she realizes Eliot is right. His marriage to Paige is over; why try to destroy her? Dennis refuses to listen to his mother. Everyone is turning against him, Dennis believes.

LOVE IN THE AIR

After a night of romantic dancing, Paige and Eliot get caught in the rain. Instead of being annoyed, they enjoy the downpour, dancing straight through it, then run to her father's old cabin for cover. There, dressed only in towels, sitting in front of a warming fire, Eliot attempts to make love to Paige. But Paige resists. She can't do this to Dennis - it would destroy him.

"Tell me you don't love me," Eliot whispers. He insists that they didn't mean for this to happen, and they can't conduct their lives to please Dennis. But in the end Paige wins out.

"I don't think we should see each other again," she says as they get dressed to leave. Unbeknownst to either of them, Dennis has followed Paige and Eliot to the cabin. He looks in the window, watching his father and wife stare into each other's eyes, and believes they are having an affair....
