In this very good, emotionally charged made-for-tv movie,
Madeline plays Jo Ann Foley.
A neglected girl who grew up in the rural South during the time when it wasn't the norm to be with and care for people who had darker skin.
But young Jo Ann found herself drawn to the warm family life that she craved and wished she had with her own family.
Forced to grow up sooner than she would have liked, young Jo Ann ended up fleeing to escape a violent family member and forced to leave her surrogate family behind.
A very good movie.
