Renee Taylor and Fran Drescher

Sylvia Fine had a mission in life. To find a suitable husband for her daughter. She wasn't asking for much. Jewish. The acronym MD after his name. But as the years went by, she got more and more worried about her daughter's happiness. Sylvia had big hair and a penchant for eating but by seasons' end, both became smaller and her life became happier when she received her husband Morty's attention again.

Renee Taylor was Fran Drescher's first choice to play her mother on the show. And from what I read and heard on interviews, the real Sylvia Drescher was happy with the choice and once commented that she was happy that "they didn't exaggerate her hair."
