CAST CORRALLED LOCALLY FILMED TELEVISION MOVIE HIGH NOON COMPLETES ROUNDUP OF STARS


BYLINE: Louis B. Hobson, Calgary Sun -- Principal casting for the western High Noon has been completed.

Susanna Thompson, Maria Conchita Alonso and Reed Diamond will join the previously confirmed Tom Skerritt in the remake of the classic 1952 western that begins shooting in the Calgary area this month.

Gary Cooper won his second Oscar as the lawman Skerritt will be playing.

On the day the sheriff is to be wed, he receives word that the leader of an outlaw band has challenged him to a shootout.

Thompson will play Skerritt's bride, the role created by Grace Kelly.

Thompson -- whose films include Random Hearts, Ghosts of Mississippi and Little Giants -- currently stars opposite Sela Ward and Bill Campbell in the TV series Once and Again.

Alonso will revive the role created by Katy Jurado.

Alonso's credits include Moscow on the Hudson, Predator 2, The House of the Spirits and The Running Man.

Reed -- who will play Skerritt's deputy sheriff -- has a recurring role in Judging Amy and played detective Mike Kellerman on Homicide: Life on the Streets.

High Noon will be directed by Rod Hardy, the director of Buffalo Girls and Two For Texas for the cable network TBS.

The movie is scheduled to air at the end of August.
