TV Notes: Just Say No to Another 'Noah'
By Scott D. Pierce, Deseret News television editor -- Now here's some very, very scary news -- miniseries producer Robert Halmi Sr.is going to try to play God again. He's going back to the Bible for a four-hour NBC miniseries titled "In the Beginning" from Halmi's Hallmark Entertainment. It will draw on the Old Testament, from the creation through Moses.
Anyone who saw Halmi's abomination "Noah" should be sickened by this news. Not only was "Noah" downright dreadful -- often laughably so -- but Halmi and his team, apparently concerned that the Bible wasn't juicy enough, took it upon themselves to rewrite and embellish the story in ways that were both ludicrous and insulting to the audience.
Among the actors willing to be sacrificial lambs in "Beginning" are Martin Landau, Omar Sharif and Jacqueline Bisset. Apparently, they didn't see "Noah."__Deseret_News (April 18, 2000)
