Once and Again / Sela Ward and Billy Campbell
Ward and Campbell costar as a pair of single parents stumbling toward a relationship in the new ABC drama from "thirtysomething" creators Marshall Herskovitz and Edward Zwick. But that's not all they have in common. "We're both from the South, we were both art majors and we both have the same kind of energy," says Ward. "He has a wonderful, sort of boyish quality to him that brings out that younger girl in me." Campbell sees it more simply: "You'd have to be a fence post not to have chemistry with Sela Ward." As their characters converge on screen, keeping one eye on their troubled children and one eye on each other, we see deep into their psyches. But don't fret, says Ward. "It's treated with such humor," she says. "It's not as self- indulgent as, say, 'thirtysomething' was. These people don't have the time to be self-indulgent." __Newsweek (August 30, 1999)
