Once just isn't enough
BILLY CAMPBELL, star of Once And Again, has earned himself the tag of "television's sexiest dad" and it's a label he's more than comfortable with.
"I go to work everyday whistling," says Campbell of the role which has earned him a resurgence in popularity - something he's been trying to achieve since starring in the box office flop The Rocketeer.
For his role as a solo dad in Once And Again, Campbell draws on his own childhood experience - his own parents divorced shortly after he was born.
"I went up every summer to live with my father in Chicago. He's still there and my mom is still in Virginia. I split my time in both places," he says.
"I don't have kids now, but I think I'd like to some day and I'd like to think I'd do well by them."
"But it's an enormously taxing and complex undertaking. You have no way of knowing how you would react in different situations."
Campbell says there are parallels between himself and his character, Rick Sammler.
"I'm unsure of myself and a hopeless romantic. It makes sense that we have similarities," he says.
Sela Ward, who plays Rick's love interest Lily on Once And Again, has high praise for her co-star.
"Billy brings the kind of package a woman wants to be with - he's kind, loving, sexy, and gorgeous," Ward says.__The Evening Post [Wellington, New Zealand] (August 7, 2000)
