Billy Campbell Eyes 'Enough'

By Claude Brodesser
HOLLYWOOD (Variety) - Billy Campbell, the star of ABC's ''Once and Again,'' is in early talks with Columbia Pictures to star opposite Jennifer Lopez in the suspense drama ``Enough.''

Campbell would play the charming but dangerously abusive husband from whom Lopez' character flees. Michael Apted (''The World Is Not Enough'') will direct.

Casting the picture should have been a cinch, especially with Lopez currently sitting atop both the box office with ``The Wedding Planner'' and the pop charts with new album ``J. Lo.''

But with writers' and actors' strikes looming this summer, the number of available players has only decreased as studios ramp up production. Moreover, the role of a wife beater who engages in hand- to-hand combat with his bride is hardly the stuff that many Hollywood actors are clamoring for: earlier talks that could have placed ``The Practice (news - Y! TV Coverage)'' star Dylan McDermott in the role collapsed, partly over deal points, but also based on negativity associated with the character, according to one insider familiar with those talks.

Time is of the essence if Columbia is to make this picture before anticipated strikes that would cripple production. Most in Hollywood say that if any picture is not shooting by April, all bets are off.__Yahoo Entertainment (February 2, 2001)
