Moore, West get romantic in Warners' 'Walk'

LOS ANGELES (The Hollywood Reporter) --- Pop singer Mandy Moore and Shane West (ABC's "Once and Again") are in negotiations to star in Warner Bros.' small-town romance feature "A Walk to Remember" for director Adam Shankman ("The Wedding Planner"). The project, slated to go before the cameras April 6 in North Carolina, is being produced by studio-based Hunt Lowry's Pandora and Denise Di Novi.Based on the 1999 Nicholas Sparks novel of the same name, the story follows a jaded, aimless high school senior (West) who falls in love with a guileless young woman (Moore) whom he and his friends once scorned before learning that she is dying. Karen Janszen wrote the adaptation.
Warner Bros. senior vp production Courtenay Valenti is overseeing the project on behalf of the studio.
Moore makes her feature acting debut in the upcoming Disney feature "The Princess Diaries" and the indie feature "Magic Al and the Mind Factory." She is signed to Sony Music and has released two albums, 1999's "So Real" and last year's "I Wanna Be With You."
West stars in Miramax Films' "Get Over It." His acting credits include "Dracula 2000" and "Whatever It Takes."
