Recap of Sela and Billy on THE VIEW, Tuesday, November 14, 2000

One reason Once and Again is such a hot show is because it stars two of the biggest hotties on TV: Sela Ward and Billy Campbell. Another reason is that while it is romantic enough to make your heart beat faster, it also deals with some of the more heart-stopping moments in a relationship.

Sela earned her second Emmy for her outstanding work on the show. She finds that winning feels so much better the second time around. "I really kind of thought the first one was a mistake," she says. "I was at that point in my career where I was still really, like, going to school. You know, still learning." Sela adds that by the time earned the second nomination, she felt she could finally hold her own. "If there was ever a point in time where I was ready to be awarded in that way, it would be now...It was really sweet and felt wonderful."

The actress credits her co-star with bringing out the best in her on the set. "Billy has this wonderful sort of little boy quality that's very playful and fun," she says. "And he brings that out of me. I'm really kind of a serious gal...He's amazing to work with, and I really wouldn't have won that if it hadn't have been for him."

Once and Again is a critical success that has put grown-up dating back in style. However, Billy has been wanting his character, Rick, to stop being such a pushover and "grow a spine." "Thankfully, they have sort of grown him one between the two seasons," he says. "I'm going through a lot more stuff. I have a lot more to do now...He has a better perspective on things." Like Rick, Billy is single and dating, "more or less." Although the co-hosts pushed him for more details, Billy wouldn't elaborate. "I'm not prone to talking about my private life."

At 44, Sela feels much more self-confident than she did in her 20s and is enjoying life. Like her character, Lily, Sela is a working mom who finds it challenging to balance her work with her family life. "My six-year-old last year called me on the set and he said, 'Mommy I want you to dribble all over your contract and come home and play with me. I don't see you enough,'" she recalls. "Oh, the guilt is just so tough!"

Before the actors left, Lisa was dying to know if Billy would bare his butt on his series again. "It was one of the highlights of my life," she revealed. "I could give you a private showing of my butt," Billy responded, prompting Lisa to grab his hand and usher him backstage.__ABC's THE VIEW Recap (November 14, 2000)
