Military Base Pondered For Emmys

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - A military base is being discussed as a possible location for the twice-postponed Emmy Awards, according to The Hollywood Reporter. This is the latest suggestion to come from the discussions held by CBS and the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences over how to proceed in the wake of the attacks, the recent military airstrikes in Afghanistan and the increased emphasis on security that it brings. According to sources speaking on condition of anonymity, CBS and ATAS are considering turning the televised ceremony into entertainment for troops at a California military base. Although November has been mentioned as a possible date for a telecast, CBS and ATAS officials are also looking into alternate ways to distribute the awards should a televised ceremony be scrapped altogether. __Zap2it.com (October 10, 2001)
