Billy Campbell in "Dead Man's Gun" on TNN

Billy Campbell stars as a suave yet ruthless killer-for-hire, also known as the "regulator," who gets more than he bargained for when he befriends a seductive freelance journalist in the Dead Man's Gun episode "The Regulator" on Thursday, Sept. 28 (9 p.m. - 10 p.m., ET/PT) on TNN. This episode will run as part of a full evening of Dead Man's Gun beginning with "The Ripper" (8 p.m. - 9 p.m. ET/PT) starring Peter Firth, followed by "The Regulator," and concluding with "The Womanizer" starring Patrick Duffy (10 p.m. - 11 p.m. ET/PT).

On ABC's Once and Again, Billy Campbell's stars as Rick Sammler, a sensitive single dad with a passion for his kids, sports, chocolate-chip ice cream and of course, Sela Ward. John Slattery, Campbell's character in Dead Man's Gun, has quite a different passion -- killing for cash. When Slattery single-handedly kills the notorious Jessup gang during a stagecoach robbery in the 1870s Wild West, he gains legendary status amongst the frontiersmen for his bravery and courage. Even though it appeared he murdered the robbers to save the innocent people on board, his real motive was the money he received to annihilate them. After witnessing his deadly prowess, a young female journalist, Susan Russell (Heather Hanson) offers to follow Slattery around to chronicle his adventures.

As in the case with Sela Ward (Campbell's co-star on "Once and Again"), Campbell's character's rugged good looks and charm entice the lovely young reporter -- and the two become intimate. Unfortunately for Slattery, word spreads quickly through the area that he is indeed a regulator. When Slattery completes another job and kills a mining union official, he is brought up on murder charges. However, the testimony of the love-smitten Russell enables the cold-hearted killer to go free. Following the trial, the seemingly innocent freelance writer shows the darker side of her personality and reveals a secret that might bring an end to Slattery's days as the West's top regulator.

Dead Man's Gun partners with TNN's first, original series, 18 Wheels Of Justice, and The Magnificent Seven, to create a new night of action and drama on Wednesdays.__TNNonline.com (September 15, 2000)
