*supposibly....lets forget about the technical stuff* Shawn D. and Belle were childhood friends before he was sent away to boarding school. During the time that they were seperated they grew more and more apart. Shawn D. became more of the "tough boy", shedding his signature initialed name "D." to just Shawn to sound more grown-up and tough, and even getting himself and earring. Belle became a very popular cheerleader at school, she lived up to being the "perfect girl" having everything she wanted and appearing perfect.
By the time Shawn ran away from boarding school and came back to Salem when they were 15, the two old friends were now complete opposites. Shawn clearly was taken by Belle the first time he laid eyes on his grown-up friend, but Belle on the other hadn ignored poor Shawn because she had her eyes set on an older men (she decided boys her age were to immature *oh brother*). Her angst towards Shawn grew more when, through good will, he accidentily got the 2 put in jail! In some strange way though that might have set off the first bolt in their "relationship".
In a couple of months though Belles infatuation with older men ended after major embarrassment. Finnaly her eyes soured toward another Salem boy, this time our Shawn *g*. Over the past year, the two have been through alot. From the whole "gina/hope" thing to dealing with their friend, Mimis, problem. Through it all their friendship has rekindled, with an occasional argument or two, and the two obviously have secret crushes on eachother but are to bull headed to say anything. But in the coming years their relationship will surely blossom into romance, and they can live up to their title as the "next Bo and Hope"
