EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEWS

Richard Herring

What made you want to get into comedy?

I really liked comedy and funny people as a kid. Once I started to listen to Monty Python records and watch the Young Ones, then it became pretty much my ideal thing to do.

What projects are you currently working on?

Mainly writing 13 episodes of "Time Gentlemen Please" for Sky TV with Al Murray

Do you have any fears or phobias?

Not a big fan of fire when out of control.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I like travelling, reading, the cinema and watching TV

What was the first ever joke you can remember?

Can never remember jokes, but my grandad used to do loads, one of which really made me laugh, though years later I realised I'd misunderstood it. He'd say "Ever seen a pig with one eye?" and then when you said "No". He'd cover one eye. I thought that meant that he was the pig, but now I realise he was saying if you put your hand over one eye, you will see a pig with one eye.

Where do you see the future taking you?

Into the future

What was the first ever film you saw at the cinema and what impact did it have on you?

Never got to see many films as a kid. I went to a James Bond double bill which is one of the first films I remember (Dr No and something else). It had no impact.

If you could visit anywhere in the world, where would it be?

Pompeii or Ayers Rock (I have been to both)

Do you have any brothers or sisters?

A brother and a sister

How did you get into TV work?

By working hard for years on radio, stage and doing stand up

Do you have any favourite comedians and TV programmes?

I like Simon Munnery, Harry Hill, Al Murray, Stewart Lee, Frank Skinner, Steve Coogan, Larry Sanders and the Simpsons
