Amanda sighed in frustration, glancing at her watch impatiently and wondering where Lee was. It wasn’t like him to be so late. After glancing down the hallway once more she turned back to the door and started picking the lock. She was almost finished when she heard the sound of the elevator doors opening. She quickly straightened, jammed the lock pick in her pocket and knocked on the door. After a few seconds she turned around casually and spied about a half dozen women surrounding some hapless man. They seemed amiable enough. She managed to get a good look at his face when he tried to get out of the elevator and her eyes widened in amazement. "Excuse me," Lee interrupted, pushing his way forward. "This is my floor. Have a good day." He hurriedly got out and made his way to her side.
The women smiled after him, a few actually waved and the elevator left.
"Lee! We’re supposed to be working," she hissed tartly, turning back to the door.
"Hurry up," he muttered, moving to block anyone’s view of what they were doing.
"Got it!" She announced triumphantly a few seconds later, swinging the door open.
He grabbed her and hustled them both inside, slamming and bolting the door behind them.
"What’s wrong?" She asked.
"I can’t wait to get out of here," he admitted, sitting on the edge of the bed wearily. "These people are weird."
"I saw part of your entourage, buster. They didn’t look weird to me."
"You didn’t hear them. They kept calling me John Sheridan and asking me where Delenn was."
"Who’s Delenn?"
"I have no idea!" He exclaimed, running his hand through his hair. "Then they started asking why I wasn’t in uniform. I thought I’d never get here."
"I noticed that the security guards wear some sort of costume," she answered reflectively. "They might have thought you were one of them."
"I don’t know and I don’t care," he snapped impatiently. "Let’s just get what we came for and get the hell out of here. I’ll take the bedroom." He got to his feet and stalked off.
"Lee, what if they’re not here?" She called after him apprehensively.
"Then we’ll check the Hampton Inn. They’ve got to be somewhere." A few seconds went by in silence. "Amanda!"
"You found it?" She asked hopefully, going into the bedroom.
Lee was standing in front of the hot tub with a grin on his face.
"That’s not what we came here for," she reminded him gently.
"I know. The stuff’s on top of the dresser."
She glanced over and saw some binders clearly labeled Scarecrow and Mrs. King Fourth Annual Get Together. They were neatly stacked on top of the dresser, along with some cassettes. "Good work, partner." She made a move to take a sample of each.
"What’s your hurry?" He asked, taking her in his arms.
"I seem to recall someone saying, and I quote, ‘let’s just get what we came for and get the hell out of here’."
"Well, I was thinking – "
"That could be dangerous," she teased, pecking him on the lips.
"Everyone’s downstairs at this convention getting to know each other. Why don’t we do the same, huh?" He pulled her closer and kissed her soundly.
"We already know each other," she reminded him. "Besides, what about your old girlfriend?"
He looked at her quizzically.
"Delenn," she prompted, smiling faintly.
"Very funny. I wouldn’t date anyone named Delenn," he stated firmly. "We have plenty of time, and that hot tub’s calling us. What do you say?"
"You’re just trying to avoid your new friends."
"That too," he admitted readily, pulling her to the bed and kissing her again. "What do you say?"
"I say that I’m going to have to follow the rule book on this one."
He groaned and rolled his eyes.
"The senior agent’s the one in charge," she continued, eyes twinkling. "I guess I’ll just have to follow your lead."
He laughed, grabbed her again and they both fell backwards on the bed.
