US PS2 Launch Count Down

DAYS:HOURS:MINS:SECS
Launch Date: October 26th, 2000

Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty will be set in New York, an interesting change from the wilderness of Alaska. With the developers putting emphasis on the need for realistic lighting and air effects, this could be one of the most impressive action games ever released on a home console. It certainly grabbed everyone’s attention at E3 – let’s hope the final game lives up to the hype!

Gaming fans, take a seat and a deep breath: Sony's heavily hyped and long-awaited PlayStation2 will hit North American shelves on October 26. Suggested retail price: $299, the same amount charged for the original PlayStation console in 1995.

Ridge Racer V. The "Ridge Racer" series has captivated gamers world-wide and looks set to continue this trend with its first outing on PlayStation 2. Thanks to PS2's capabilities, the latest Ridge game's specifications have been upgraded to an unseen quality.

The Bouncer will be the first cinematic fighter for the PS2. It will use the S.A.B.S.(Seamless Action Battle System.) You will be able to combat while interacting with the environment. This will include throwing your opponent against the wall, using weapons from your surroundings, etc. It will be developed by Dream Factory (of Tobal and Ehrgeiz fame.) It will be released by SquareSoft and it will be released in Japan in March 2000.

Most fans of US wrestling games simply don't understand Japanese wrestling games. While US games focus more on wrestling's superstars, their finishing moves, and raw attitude, the Japanese games are focused more on setting up matches or tournaments and diving right into the gameplay - which is usually slightly more complex than US wrestling games, for better or worse. Square's All Star Pro-Wrestling gets its complexity from slow, sluggish gameplay and an entirely different and unbearably annoying control scheme.
