Amanda was born to a life of wealth on a grand plantation in New Orleans. Her father was murdered when she was only 8 and his death left great scars on Amanda's heart.

Left with an overbearing and bitter mother, Amanda was raised to be the perfect socialite.

It was the death of her mother Margaret DuBois, sister to Maude Standish, that sent Amanda west. Her destination was San Francisco to attend finishing school, but a broken wagon wheel stranded her in Sweetwater.

Amanda arrived in Sweetwater a rich elite socialite that would accept only the very best. She was immediately at odds with most of the town due to her arrogant attitude and outright rude behavior.

She was delighted to find Ezra Standish in Sweetwater.

But it was a quiet rider named Ike McSwain that captured her attention and kept her in the little backwater town.

Then one day, Amanda was gone. After having a horrible fight with Ezra, Amanda led into the woods seeking solace, but was not seen or heard from again. Brutally raped and beaten within an inch of her life, Amanda was left for dead by the side of an out-of-the-way trail. A store owner happened across her broken body and immediately took her in, nursing her back to health.

It was nearly two months later when Emma and Sam were gathering supplies at a general store nearly 80 miles south of Sweetwater that they came across a young, battered woman who had no recollection of who she was or where she was from.

Upon returning to town, it was a chance meeting with Maude Standish that brought Amanda's memories back to her and her horrible nightmares of her abduction and subsequent torture were piled on the young woman all at once.

But with the help of Emma Shannon and the people of Sweetwater, Amanda was able to pull herself together again and go on living. A horrible scar runs across her forehead at her hairline and down the side of her cheek and is a constant reminder of the hell she lived through.
