Newt’s fresh face, strong sense of justice, and naive attitude get him in plenty of trouble along the way.
While in Curtis Wells, Newt meets the spirited young Miss Hannah Peale whom he falls in love with almost instantly. Their first meeting is not a most pleasant experience for Newt. While trying to get his clothes laundered, Newt happens upon the young woman while clothed in a woman's dressing robe. All embarrassments aside, Newt sets out to win the dark haired beauty's heart, and quickly succeeds as the two young lovers are married. With dreams of one day starting a horse ranch, Newt accepts a position as a deputy sheriff to Sheriff Kearney, and has many adventures along the way.
But Newt's life is torn apart when Hannah Call, the only love of his life, is killed in a fire. After a two year absense, Newt returns to Curtis Wells a hardened bounty hunter and gun for fire. His cynical ways and ruthless nature are far from the youthful young man that first stepped foot into the town of Curtis Wells.
