Regis: OK, best known for his role on "Friends", of course, the sensitive, hopelessly romantic, Ross. You know him.

Kelly: Yes.

Regis: Well, tonight, you can see him in part 2 of the dramatic mini-series, "Uprising". Here's David Schwimmer!

He comes out to the Friends theme song playing, everyone cheers.

Regis: (fans still cheering) Hi David! Nice to see you again! Oh, boy! Oh, yeah! (laughs)

Kelly: Hey!

Regis: (still cheering) They love their David Schwimmer! They love him!

Kelly: Did you ever dream all those years ago when you did the Pilot for "Friends" that it would turn into this, uh, this...

David: Nah, I mean. No, we were just a bunch of a-unemployed actors looking for our next job, and uh-yeah.

Regis: Sure enough you became...

David: Very, very lucky that we had such a chemistry from-from the get-go.

Kelly: And especially you, because you really-uh-gone outside of-of the sitcom and done a lot successful other projects.

David: Oh, yeah.

Kelly: Which is great.

David: Uh-my background was theatre, I went to Northwestern University in Chicago and studied all kinds of things, you know...the classics.

Regis: Sure.

David: I wasn't really doing much comedy actually, and then I went to an audition and-uh now I'm doing comedy.

Regis: Ah-huh.

David: It's fun.

Regis: Now, listen. Lets just talk about "Friends" for a minute.

David: Yeah, yes.

Regis: So, Ross and-and-and your Jennifer Aniston, you went with her for a long time. Right?

David: Yeah, Regis. Uh-what happened was.. (everyone laughs)

Regis: 'Cause there’s something else on on Thursdays that I watch. You know.

David: Uh-yeah. Umm. Yeah, there's a little history between us.

Regis: Yeah, yeah.

Kelly: What I'm trying to explain to Regis before you came, is that you didn't get Jennifer Aniston pregnant, because she's married to an other man in real-life.

David: She is, she is...

Kelly: And that your character, Ross got Rachel pregnant. But we were all mystified.

Regis: You don't think Regis knew that? (crowd laughs)

Kelly: Did he know that?

Regis: Yes, I understood that! but I didn't know what the relationship was between Ross and Rachel. And apparently there’s a lot of history there.

David: Yeah. They went out-they got married kind of as a joke accidentally when they got drunk in Vegas (crowd laughs) uh-uh.

Regis: Doesn't everybody? (everyone laughs) So then what happens?

David: And-uh, there just - there just friends.

Regis: Well, now you've got a little baby, right?

David: I have no idea, I mean the baby will come out. (crowd laughs)

Regis: Well if Ross is that sensitive, isn't he gonna want to be...

David: He's gonna want to be around, yeah, be-be-be a dad, yeah, definitely. So we'll see, I mean, there'll role with the punches as they say. So...

Regis: Well, if this happened to David Schwimmer was in real-life.

David: Oh, god...Regis.....(everyone laughs hysterically, David looks at his watch and looks around...)

Regis: Alright. I gotta tell-ya...David your absolutely right he does step out-behind-behind that show.

Kelly: He does..

Regis: "Band of Brothers", saw that. (everyone cheers) and now the tv mini-series, "Uprising." Now you did some research on this one right?

David: Oh, yeah. This new-ah-this new series, its a two part series called Uprising for NBC, and-uh-uh-the second part airs tonight...umm...and it's-ah-it's really about the Warsaw ghetto, during the-the Holocaust. But it tells a story that’s never been told before, which is about this-this uprising-this revolt about this group of umm-young Jews, in the ghetto-uh-teenagers and-umm-umm twenty something--kids, really, who decided there not going to just go passively to a-to the death camp and they resist and they-they-they organize an underground-kind of an underground army, if you will and resisted and managed to fend off the-the entire German army in Poland, in-ah-from within the Warsaw. ghetto walls, uh-longer actually than the entire country of Poland managed to uh-uh...

Regis: Wow.

David: to do so...so-uh-yeah-it's-ah-it's-ah, kind of this action/adventure thing of course, with this message of hope and honor..

Regis: Sure well, lets take a look at a clip now...And this is exactly what’s going on your character is pleading for some help in its spot..

David: Oh-should I set up this clip...Or?? Yeah, I mean, my character at this point was desperate for arms. That was uh-my character's role and I played this actually survivor of the Holocaust um-and his role in this scene was desperately trying to get arms from the Polish underground army.

Regis: Right...

David: So, yeah, this is...

Regis: Yeah, this is a clip from "Uprising", Part 2.

We go into the scene of the movie (by the way, DS has an amazing accent, sounds 100% real)

Yitzhak (David‘s character): May I remind, Colonel, that, we too, are Polish citizens, perhaps these influences of the whole army are secretly grateful to the Nazis for ridding their country of Jews. I pray to God you can rise above those influences.

Colonel: The considerations we face are complex.

Yitzhak: That may be, but, you see, Colonel, the considerations my people face are simply in fact, I would like to say that the considerations many of my people face are positively elemental. We must have arms. We must have explosives! We must have something other than our fists! And, and, and bricks! And our unbreakable will! Immediately! You take no risk! And if you fail to act, our blood will be on your hands..

We come out of the scene (everyone claps)

Regis: Certainly, not Ross. This guy, he's right there!

David: Oh, yeah. Yeah.

Kelly: Yeah.

Regis: I guess you love getting it-getting involved in other characters for a while after eight years of "Friends".

David: Yeah. It-It keeps things fresh, you know..

Regis: Sure.

David: It keeps things more interesting when-you-you-it's like going back to school, you go-on-uh-summer break, and do other projects, like this-and-this we shot in Slovakia...And-you-come back to school in a way and your there with family on "Friends". It's good. It makes it...

Regis: Well it looks like its a terrific, terrific story about a terrific band of people. NBC tonight at Nine-o'-clock..Thank you so much...David Schwimmer for being with us! Great to see you again..
