Part 2
Auggie followed Juliet into the janitor's closet closing and locking the door behind him. Juliet beamed with happiness as she looked into Auggie's eyes. He leaned in to kiss her and she pulled away.
"What's wrong Jules?" Auggie asked.
"Nothing, It's just..." Juliet started.
"Jules, it's okay you can talk to me." Auggie said touching the back of her head. He stroked her soft brown hair as he continued to talk to her. "Jules, did I do something wrong?"
"No Auggie, you have never done anything wrong to me all you have done is be yourself, and that's what I love about you." Juliet said.
"Ditto." He responded holding Juliet to his chest.
"I just feel bad for Scott. You know with the whole Chris and Shelby thing. How do you think he feels?" Juliet asked concern in her usually perky voice.
"Meat, he'll do just fine. He's the one who would not take Shelby back. He's digging his own grave." Auggie said, running his index finger across Juliet's bottom lip.
"Auggie." She whispered.
There was a loud thumb from the other side of the shed as Auggie and Juliet backed away from one another. Ezra and Miranda appeared from behind a large pile of boxes. Ezra scratched the top of his head as Miranda quickly fixed her messy hair.
"Ez!" Auggie choked out.
"Miranda?" Juliet laughed looking at the to caught-in-the act teens.
"We were just looking for some sleeping bags, Peter said the powers messing up again and we might have to spend the night in the lodge yet again." Laughed Ezra as he acted like he was searing around for sleeping bags.
"Oh really, well Miranda you might want to pick up your shoes before you go." Juliet giggled following Auggie out of the shed.
Shelby and Chris walked a long the path that lead to the picnic tables in the middle of the school. Chris picked up Shelby carrying her the rest of the ways to the table. She laughed as he acted like he was her groom to be and like they were just coming back from their weeding.
"Chris I'm to heavy put me down." Laughed Shelby.
"Yea, Shel you're huge, my arms are hurting." Joked Chris, as he laid Shelby down on the top of the table and started to kiss her. "If I say you have a nice body will you hold it against me?" Chris asked as he pulled Shelby closer to him.
"You mean like this?" she asked in a low voice brining her body closer to his. Daisy walked up followed by David. Daisy watched the to love birds as she started to clear her throat.
"Ahum." Daisy said forcing a smile across her usually unhappy face. David laughed as he watched Shelby and Chris.
"Well what have we got here?" David asked as he pushed past Daisy and walked over to the couple.
"Go away David, I heard some farm animals were in need for your service." Shelby said her usual-Shelby-tone creeping back into her voice. She smirked at him and tuned to face Daisy. "Hey Daisy." She smiled at her best friend and hoped off the table walking towards her.
"Funny, Shelby. I'll let that little comment slide, just remember you owe me big." David said walking away from the group. Chris laid back down on the pinch table looking up into the sky. He felt so much better like his biggest dream had come true. Being with Shelby gave him a chance to not think about his little sister or his family problems.
"Hot make out scene, in front of the whole School, bold Shel, real bold." Daisy laughed.
"We were just kissing, so what?" Shelby said placing her hands on her hips.
"Shelby, do you still love Scott?" Daisy asked looking away from Shelby's face.
"Yea, I do." Shelby said as she started to back away from her friend. She turned around skipping towards Chris. He was still on the table his eyes closed and unaware of Shelby coming towards him. She quietly crept up to him jumping towards him and tickling his stomach. He laughed in joy as he opened his eyes tickling Shelby back. Daisy smiled as she started walking towards the wood shed. Scott stood with ax in hand looking out towards the picnic tables. He glared at them. Daisy walked over to him not noticing that it was Scott at first.
"I hate her." Scott said under his breath chopping a stick of wood into two pieces as hard as he could. Daisy inched back wards afraid Scott might throw the ax at her.
"You'll never hate Shelby because in the end you'll both find a way back to one another. She still loves you Scott. She told me." Daisy said walking up closer to him. She placed her hand on his shoulder for comfort.
"Yea right." Scott said sliding away from Daisy and moving towards the kitchen. Daisy followed after him.
Later that night Peter was setting up the Cliffhangers in the lodge. He rolled out about 10 sleeping bags placing them right next to one another. Scott sulked into the lodge holding his pillow in one hand and his sleeping clothes in the other. He threw them down on a random sleeping bag. Peter watched him as he sulked back the way he came. Shelby glided in followed by Chris. They walked hand-in-hand over to Peter. Shelby was bouncing up and down like she was a remake of Juliet. She was wearing a cute baby blue belly shirt, and plaid blue sleep pants. Peter smiled at the happy couple until he saw Scott. He was standing about five feet behind them angry rising up inside of him.
"Shelby have you taken those prescription drugs the doctor gave you?" Peter asked.
"Yea, just like the doc ordered I take to in the morning one at lunch and to before I got to bed I got it all figured out."
"Okay, but remember lights out for you at 10 not 11, you need more sleep than the rest of these kids." Peter stated sitting a candle on the mantel.
"Chris your mom called." Peter said.
"Cool can I call her back?"
"No the phone lines are down, you'll have to try in the morning she called before the power went out." Peter said. "Oh Shelby could you go get some more candles there in the pantry and Chris could you go get some fire wood it's out front." Peter asked.
"Sure." They said in unison walking off in different directions. Shelby walked into the kitchen looking around for the pantry. She noticed Scott was standing in the kitchen making a sandwich.
"Hi Scott." Shelby said.
"Shelby?" Scott asked spinning around dropping his sandwich to the ground. Shelby giggled as they both dropped down to pick up the mess.
"I'm so sorry, I don't know what got into me." Scott stuttered. He seemed uncomfortable around Shelby at that moment.
"Scott it's okay. I scared you it was my fault. So get the munches?" Shelby laughed scooping up a slice of pickle and tomato.
"Yea, total hunger attack." Scott said back.
"I was just looking for some candles." Shelby said picking up some of the food and doping it into a trash bin.
"Candles? Having a little moment with you new guy?" Scott asked.
"No. Peter needed some for the mantle. I tried the candle thing once before if you don't remember and I got stood up by some guy."
"Oh no, some dumb guy who loved you so much stood you up that sucks." Scott said back stepping close to Shelby.
"Yea, I love him." Shelby said her face almost touching Scott's. He could feel her breath on his lips. "But he does not love me anymore." Shelby said in a low voice grabbing the candles from the pantry and walking away. Scott stood still for a few minutes taking in what his ex-girlfriend had just said.
"Shelby." He said to himself. "She loves me?" Scott stood still bewildered.
Auggie and Juliet walked into the lodge and headed towards the fireplace. Auggie sat down next to Juliet on a rug on the wood floor. He kissed her cheek and then pulled back.
"Juliet?" Auggie asked.
"Yea Auggie?" Juliet asked warmth in her voice.
"I love you!" he said taking her pale face in his hands.
"I know. I, I love you too." Juliet said in a whisper.
"Juliet, you're the girl I want to be with forever and I want to be your first!" Auggie whispered back.
"What? Auggie?" Juliet said standing up.
"Jules, what's wrong?"
"Auggie I don't want to have sex with you." Juliet said in a low voice.
"When to people love each other then it's the next step towards greater love." Auggie said as he stood up to face Juliet.
"I'm sorry I can't not now, I'm not ready." Juliet said walking towards the girl's cabin.
"Juliet!" he yelled. "Great, just great."
Miranda pulled Ezra behind the kitchen counter. He eagerly followed her and then they collapsed behind the counter, lost in a kiss.
"Miranda?" asked Ezra.
"Yea Ez?"
"Want to be my girlfriend?"
"Yea I want." Miranda said to him as she kissed him again.
Daisy walked into the kitchen walking over to the counter. She pulled a bag of white loaf bread from the pantry and about three jars of peanut butter. She dropped it all onto the counter on of the plastic jars of PB rolled off the counter and fell to where Miranda and Ezra where sitting. Daisy walked around to pick it up dropping to her knees. She grabbed the jar noticing two people trying to hide behind a box. She pushed the box away and saw Ezra's shocked face. "Ezra? Miranda? What are you to doing back here?" Daisy asked.
"Just, kissing." Miranda said before Ezra could stop her. He still had feelings for Daisy, yet he had the same feelings for Miranda.
"Well I'll, um leave you two." Daisy said tears welling up in her brown eyes. She slipped on the PB jar slipping backwards and bumping her head on the counter side. "Ouch." She said to herself.
"Daisy you okay?" Ezra asked moving towards her.
"Get away, you jerk. How could you kiss me and then kiss her after she rejected you. Ezra you're so blind when it comes to people. Don't bother explaining yourself I get the picture you don't want someone like me you want a rich, pretty girl liked Miranda. I hope you're happy, and don't come crawling back to me when she dumps you." Daisy said getting up and running out of the kitchen.
"Daisy. Please wait." Yelled Ezra as he got chasing after her. Daisy ran out into the lodge smacking into David's back. He dropped the folded up blankets he was carrying and glared at Daisy.
"I'm sorry David." Daisy said starting to get back up and run.
"What's the rush Dais? Did Ezra said he wanted more than just a kiss?" David asked laughing.
"Cute David, but I don't need this right now. I just saw Ezra and Miranda kissing in the kitchen. How could he do this to me after I kissed him and after how I thought he felt about me?" Daisy asked out loud not really talking to David.
"Ezra's like that because he does not know how to act around girls. He goes for any girl that will say I like you for now. I'm not like that Daisy I could make you forget all about him." David said taking Daisy by the hand.
"Really?" Daisy asked tears running down her cheeks.
"Whatever you want." David started to pull Daisy towards the front door when Ezra came running in.
"Daisy, Daisy wait." Ezra called out of breath.
"Get away." Screamed Daisy as she started to run just as David grabbed her other wrist. "David stop it."
"Daisy I wont let him hurt you."
"I'm not going to touch her." Ezra called back to David.
"Then back off shrimp."
"Leave Daisy alone." Ezra said running towards David. David grabbed Ezra by shoulders shoving him backward into the wall. Ezra fell to the ground quickly getting up and lunging at David's chest. He plowed into his chest knocking him onto the floor. David punched Ezra in the mouth, causing him to bleed. Daisy grabbed Ezra by the shoulders pulling him away from David's fists. "Daisy get away you'll get hurt." Ezra said whipping the back of his hand across his mouth.
"Ezra stop it now. David get away from him. You guys are not going to fight, Scott and Chris already bashed each other's brains out I don't want the same to happen to you guys. Ezra go clean up your face and don't let Peter see either of you or you'll both be on shuns." Daisy said walking away.
"Did we just fight over Daisy?" David asked rubbing his arm.
"Yea, we did." Ezra laughed as the to boys walked towards the kitchen.
All the cliffhangers came together in the lodge later that night. Peter pulled them all into a circle for a group session. "Okay Cliffhangers, I know were have some problems getting along these past few weeks. Now we all know about the triangle between Scott, Chris and Shelby." They all nodded in agreement. "I know your hurting Scott, but it's something that happens in life, you are not always going to get the girl. Not every one is always going to get the grade they need or that little push you need to succeed. Now Sophie and I are here to help you, by talking to you and you need to talk to each other also. It lifts a great big chip off your shoulder and makes you feel a lot better. Now tonight that's what we're going to do is just talk about what's on our chest. Shall we start with Shelby?" Peter looked at her.
"Well, as everyone knows I kissed Chris and Scott and I broke up. Then I got in the hospital and then came back to Chris. He was about to leave Horizon's just so Scott and I could work things out and get back together. Now I know I still love Scott but he does not love me anymore so I came to realize why love someone who wont love you back it's kind of a waste of time. I started dating Chris and still part of me wanted Scott. I'm so confused and I don't know what to say or do. I just want to be happy. I love Scott and Chris." Shelby said getting up and walking away. She jogged out into the warm night. She wrapped her arms around her body and walked towards the woods. Scott was close behind her. He walked a few feet behind her so she would not notice he was following her. She kicked a few stones as she walked along the trail into the woods. Shelby turned around and ran over to Scott. "Scott please stay with me, please don't say you don't love me." Shelby said as Scott pulled her into a hug. He rocked her back-and-forth in his arms as she cried into his shoulder.
"Shelby, I know I said I did not love you but I realized while talking to you in the kitchen that I could never stop loving you ever. Not in a million years would I be able to. You're my soul mate Shelby you complete me and I love you." Scott kissed the top of Shelby's head holding her close to him.
"You really mean that?" she asked.
"Yes, yes I do." Scott said looking into her eyes. "Shelby?"
"Yea?"
"I think I'm going to have to arrest you." Scott said in a ruff voice.
"But why? What did I do?" Shelby asked confused.
"Because It's clear you have stolen the stars in the sky, because I can see them in your eyes." Scott leaned his face close to Shelby's and they pressed their foreheads together enjoying the moment of being close to each other.
"That's so sweet Scott." Shelby said.
"What's so sweet." Said a distant voice? Chris stepped out from behind a tree. His face expression less, he walked over to the log Scott and Shelby were sitting on and looked at them both. "Shelby, you know are deal, that we would try being together and if it didn't work out we would both know that Scott was your soul mate? Well here's the answer he's your soul mate, no contest anymore. I'll leave for home tomorrow, thanks for the short time we had together Shel." Chris turned off walking in the direction he had come.
"Chris." Shelby said as she let go of Scott and walked up to him. "I'm sorry Chris. You should not leave, you need to stay at Horizon's you can't go home to were all the drugs and family problems are. " Shelby said.
"Yea I can, I'm leaving tomorrow, I want to see my mom and sister again and the only reason I was staying at Horizon's was because of you. Now that I no longer have you I have no reason to stay." Shelby stared at him speechless. She did not know what to say. What was she supposed to say? Don't go I'll be your girlfriend and Scott's? She hugged him then he disappeared off into the dark night.
