Out of all the couples in Friends, Monica and Chandler have lasted the longest (the on and off relationship of Ross and Rachel doesn’t count!) and are now in happily married bliss! How the ‘hopeless in love’ Chandler Bing and the neurotic Monica Geller can have such a lasting relationship is at times, hard to understand, but we all know that they work. They’re great together, although seeing as they’re my favourite couple, I would say that! Anyway, this section is dedicated to the both of them and how they got from friends who annoyed each other-to an married couple very much in love!Before they got Together…
Was the event of Monica and Chandler getting together predictable from the start? Well considering the show were going to put Monica together with Joey, maybe not! They’ve certainly had their moments though. There’ve been all those ‘what if’ scenarios Chandler was always throwing at Monica, and him always saying if they’re both still single at 40 he’ll marry her. They’ve been pretty close from the start. Always the ones comforting and cuddling each other. Monica had a crush on Chandler in college (TOW All The Thanksgivings) and they nearly got together in TOW The Flashback. But even then, they seemed just good friends…
How they got together…
Cue TOW Ross’ Wedding-the London special full of surprises. This is the episode where a drunk Monica, distressed by her brother getting married and the guy who thought she was Ross’ mother, had to find comfort-in the form of Chandler Bing! The last thing we saw was Chandler saying ‘who wouldn’t want you?’ before we saw them the next morning in bed together! Since then, their relationship has been a funny one to watch. First there were the efforts to keep the relationship a secret before Joey, then Rachel and the others finally found out! From Chandler proposing in an attempt to say sorry, to that night in Vegas where they very nearly tied the knot (If it hadn’t been for Ross and Rachel getting there first)! Then they moved in together which changed the face of friends forever with there being no more girls apartment and no guys-just a mix. And then there was the engagement. In my eyes-the highlight of season six and a real tear jerker!
The Future…
Now they’re married! Who knows what will happen next! Hopefully they’re gonna stay a happy couple and not get divorced. Maybe they’ll have kids too…we’ll just have to wait and see…
