Kahlo (John Cooper) |
Kahlo
fell into the role of John
by default. Although Doug Bush didn't especially like his reading, the
only other person who auditioned was Jon Leguiziamo, so it was no
contest. Kahlo was born in Monterrey, Mexico and came to Texas (via the
Rio Grande) at the age of 17. From there he lived in a El Paso garbage
dump until he swallowed his pride and took
a role on Fox's "House of
Buggin," which was cancelled after just 6 airings. From that point,
Kahlo bounced from low rated show to low rated show, including a two
episode stint as a drug-lord on "New York Undercover." Kahlo says that his break on "The Rutlanders" came just in time. "I was about to go back to the fields near Salinas to pick romaine when the call came. Without Doug Bush, a piece of me, probably one of my severed fingers, could've been in a supermarket near you." Now in his third season on the show, Kahlo has never been happier. He just wishes all of "those" rumours would go away. He says he's happily married to a wonderful woman who shares his love of Liza Minelli and Broadway. |
