Lucky Move
|
Soap Opera Digest - November 22, 1994
Some say he's Lucky, but Jonathan Jackson thinks
he's just an average kid. Of course, most 12-year-olds aren't doing
talk shows, movies and GENERAL HOSPITAL.
The pre-teen eased his way into show business with
commercial work and local modeling. He landed the plum role of Lucky
Spencer, son of Luke and Laura, during a trip to California. "I auditioned
Tuesday and Wednesday, then I tested for it on Friday, and I worked on
Monday," Jackson recalls. "I didn't have much time to let it soak
in."
It didn't' take much time for him to become an audience
favorite. Jackson's artless, all-boy portrayal is a breath of fresh
air. But is he playing himself? "We are both independent, but
Lucky is a little more wild -- he likes to joke around and dance a lot,"
Jackson giggles.
His dance partners are also his favorite people:
TV parents Anthony Geary and Genie Francis. "They are really cool
to work with because when I have a question, they are there to help.
They're a lot of fun."
Jackson's daily work load would send most youngsters
back to grammar school. "When I have school, I get [to work] at 1
o'clock, probably start working at 2, and get out at 5 or 6. When
I have a really heavy day, I can be there until 8 o'clock."
Jackson's success required a move to L.A.
His mom lives with him; his doctor dad is running a medical practice in
Vancouver. Make no mistake: Jackson is a hot property -- and
not just on soaps. He starred with Christopher Lloyd in the film
Camp Nowhere.
Being successful doesn't leave much time for fun,
but Jackson enjoys making home videos with his brother and strumming the
guitar. "When I go out, I usually go to the movies," he says.
What would the young actor like to see happen to
Lucky? "I think it'd be cool if he started to have conflicts with
his parents, just to show that kids and parents don't always get along,"
Jackson suggests. "I want people to see another side of Lucky.
