More Random Rants: Real actors and Old People
So tennis season is finally over and I'm ready to rededicate myself to my favorite soap opera, when what to my wondering eyes should appear? My show left in shambles. Destroyed by an evil fat man and his equally evil minions! Darn you Sheffer! You'll pay for this!
So I happened to catch Day 1 of the "Soap Star Screen Test" when who shows up? Chris Goutman. He boyishly laughs and says "You silly anchorwoman! My name is Goutman, not Gootman…would you like a job?" You know how ATWT can't pass up a great piece of talent. Yes, they can pass over, but never pass by! Why that would be sacrilege! ATWT has tapped two AMAZING actors to play new characters. That’s right creating new characters so you can ignore the existing ones. Hooray! But something good may transpire, Howarth and Real Andrews are--gasp--TALENTED, PROFESSIONAL ACTORS! You must say, "Well, that can't be. They must mumble, like lil Mikey, or be whiny, like Molly.... or maybe, just maybe, they have no talent at all." But "No!", I say, "These are darn fine actors. One with a golden Angel to prove it!" Yes, yes, I know it sounds crazy but it's not so much.
But don't worry, ATWT thinks they'll make it up to use by putting some vets on the front burner with a sexy love story. Cause that's what every guy and gal needs to see: old people "getting their grooves back." But we all no Sheffer & Co. will screw it up eventually. Ah, I can just see it now. Susan and Dr. Love have a whirlwind romance when suddenly Dr. Love dies of a coronary in the middle of hot old people sex; Susan subsequently starts a torrid affair with a much younger man. Aaron maybe. It will be illuminating television. But really, I think Sheffer thinks that giving us a five-minute respite from the Carly Show will makes us once again believe in the show. I'm not convinced. Here's what I see happening 3-4 weeks of front burner status. They'll be on all-day, everyday, only to drop off the face of the Earth and be seen only in short glimpses at weddings and trial dates.
Which reminds me.... One day every two weeks for Luron? Not good enough for me. And when they are on, I'm bored to tears... "I love you!" "No, I love you!" "By golly, I swear I'll get out of this chair one day!" Ooh sorry dozed off for a sec. Next Time: My Emmy predicts.... cause I think I'm an expert!

More Random Rants: Emmy Upsets and Other Grievances
-First things first, the unbearably unwatchable farewell to Simon. This character deserved a hero's goodbye, not a "See ya later". Where was the montage of the best Skatie scenes or something?! I personally feel no closure, so how is Katie supposed to? And poor Katie instead of having her have a Barbara-esque breakdown, she just stops eating and makes friends with Alison. Because that's what I want to do when my soul mate, my true love, my whole life leaves me, hang out with a 17 yr-old arsonist who's a whiny needy witch(Still hating Alison).
-Now the Emmy's. It's hard to talk about it. Where oh Where is Hunt's nom? Seriously. Hunt belonged in the Lead Actor category WAY MORE than Grant Aleksander or Doug Davidson. Hunt Block has the ability to make any scene he is in a hilarious mixture of villainy, pompousness, and any other emotion Craig is feeling. There should be a little Laugh-o-Meter in HB scenes..well maybe just at my house, huh?
-Oh Luron. Back together and in love again. But get her out of that chair and give her the memories back. I don't want to have to spend the summer with a paraplegic going "Tell about this 'cause I don't remember". Anybody else notice the signs of an ever impending Luron baby story? I can pick out hundreds of signs that point to it. Craig's always griping about it. And even recently Aaron and Lucy took a turn in it themselves!
Aaron: Oh, Natalie's great, isn't she?
Lucy: And she knows you. I love that. You know, the way she looks at her big brother.
Aaron: Oh, you've got to see her with her father.
Lucy: Oh, you know, little girls and their daddies.
I could be wrong but, hey, like, the chick from SOD says, It's Only My Opinion.

More Random Rants
-So Carly FINALLY told Jacky she has a bun in the oven. Yay...bring out the parade. The best line EVER is when Carly is explaining how happy she is to be Jack's wife and to be the mother of his *phone ringing*....How CLASSIC!!!!
-Rose is coming home! From the spoilers I've heard Rose opens a beauty shop...that would be the best source of comedy ATWT has ever seen. My one wish for Rosie is to get over Paul. They obviously don't need each other as much as they thought they did. Anybody that I'm engaged to who doesn't show up to my MURDER TRIAL, is as good as dead to me!
-Whiny--oops I mean Molly, is soooooo annoying!!! OMG Rosanna bought her penthouse! How dare she buy property on the on the market. Witch! And I love how Molly found a way to throw in the whole "you're buying the place where Jake and I shared memories" and blah blah blah...Honey, he's dead, you've moved on, your SLEEPING with another guy...it's time to TAKE THE ICEBERG OFF YOU HAND!!!!
-I love Dr. Ben Harris.....He's dreamy. But honey, you're allowed to make a mistakey. Let it go.
-Where's Henry Darn It??? I need Henry!!!!!
-How are they going to ship off Paul Leyden/Simon...when they don't even show him, or Katie for that matter. I think Hogan Sheffer has become Skatieist...he's prejudice against Skatie!

The Best
Best Actor: Hunt Block; his ability to make ANY situation hilarious made him 2002's best man.
Best Actresses: As much as I hate the character she plays, Cady McLain must be the most outstanding actress on daytime. Her depth, her range, her beauty all make Rosanna the character I most love to hate!!
Honorable Mentions: Colleen Zenk Pinter, Lamman Rucker, Kelley Hensley, Scott Holroyd.
Best Story Line: James's return and his involvement in the Jessica & Co. storyline.
Most Memorable Moment: Julia's return via Jack and Carly's wedding.
The Worst
Worst Mistake: Carly sleeping with Mike.
Worst Storyline: Who's The Daddy of Carly's baby, seriously? I really don't care. Unless this baby turns out to be Henry's or Magda the Butch's I REALLY don't care.
As much as I hate to give the following awards out, for some it was unavoidable. There are some people that should never be in the acting business. And hey, there's always 2003!
Worst Actress: Leslie Kay, not the same without Jake. Her incessant whining gives me a headache!
Worst Actor: The gents faired well, I have no complaints.
The Specials
Best Wedding: Hal and Emily's; Margo as Best Man was so beautiful, and the event gave my favorite couple their first chance at those three little words.
Most Missed: Paul Korver, I loved that boy!
Favorite Couple: No contest, it has to be Aaron and Lucy, nobody else does it for me.
Worst Chemistry: Mike and Molly, I'm just not feeling it. So sue me. Better yet, sue Hogan Sheffer for forcing this terrible couple down our throats.

Random Rants
You know how it is. It's around 1 o'clock, your in Freshmen Phys Ed, playing racquetball, and that stupid blue ball has been hit over the wall for about the umpteenth time, your mind starts to wander and you realize your friend, who you've known since 5th grade starts to resemble Peyton List now you know your obsessive. Well maybe YOU don't. But I do.
So there I am looking at this Peyton-look-alike and I start thinking about the bus tour. How lame it is. Yup, lame. The only bright spot in this ENTIRE trip was Agim in a pink bunny costume that was awesome! But the was one moment in a sea full of crap. Crappy acting, crappy locations (wow it's outside oooh!), and crappy storylines. ATWT sure knows how to ruin a potentially good thing. I say "potentially" because, don't get me wrong, I love Aaron and Lucy, but they never really were going anywhere. Everything that happened between them was dragged on and very tired. But our wish for them to go somewhere was granted, and ATWT stepped over the line. Underage sex hmm. Everybody knows nothing good comes out of sex on a soap unless the people are a married couple. But it's even worse when it's between two teenagers. But I do have to applaud ATWT for not showing us the "act". It saved us viewers and Agim and Peyton a very uncomfortable scene. Thank God Peyton's only 16! But once two people have sex we either get a break-up or an unwanted pregnancy. So please God, let HS not use either of these tired plot devices, unless, of course, he can find some hot, fresh new spin to it.
Now, we move on to the crappy acting. Have I mentioned that I hate Alison? Yes she was a breath of fresh air to the teens, but after awhile, it gets old. Real old. Her woe-is-me routine is so tired! And although I think Jessica Dunphy is a good actress, she's not great. One pet peeve I have with her is her inability to say a line without stumbling on it and glancing at the floor and making this "uh" noise under her breath. I think other than that she's great.
Greatest Grievances:
· Remember when ATWT was daring and imaginative? I miss that! It's time for them to take some risks if they want to see some more Emmy's.
· Once again demonstrating how the can screw up a great thing the whole Jack/Carly/Mike/Molly/Rosanna/Craig sextet storyline. They had a great thing going when it was just the core couples, then one silly argument and some alcohol ruins everything.
· WHY OH WHY IS CARLY PREGNANT?! Come on!! Are you really going to shove a 'Who's the Daddy?" storyline down our throats? You if it weren't for Henry, the only thing Carly would see of me is my FF button.
· I'm getting really sick of wondering where Rose is. Just bring her back please. Her fiancé's in jail and going to trial. Get real, Joe wasn't that sick.
· Know what else I'm sick of wondering about? Where the Fraser's are.
