Unexpected
Chapter Six:
"Oh, Viki what are we gonna do?" Ben stepped into the foyer with his fiancée.
"We," Viki chuckled, peering into the living area at Benjamin then turned her attention back to Ben, "he's your son, Ben -- "
"So what? You're not even gonna help?" Ben's voice rose with utter fear, "W-w-what if I, like, kill him?"
"Oh, I wouldn't worry about that the most that'll probably happen is a little maiming"
"Wha-"
"Relax, relax," Viki tried containing her laughter, "I was just kidding. I was only kidding, Ben."
"You were?" Ben asked hesitantly.
"Yes, it's going to be okay. You'll be fine and you and Benjamin..." Viki's voice trailed off.
"Benjamin and I'll... What?"

"You don't want me to leave?" Skye's back faced Kevin's front as they stood an entire inch apart. Kevin then placed his hand over hers to stop her from turning the knob. In that second a wave of electricity flew between them like nothing either had ever felt before. Skye turned around, facing him, removing her hand from the door knob she looked straight into his eyes. She could feel his breath on her skin, his heart beating erratically and hers -- maybe for the first time -- beating steadily. They both knew they held a common desire. Leaning in he pressed his lips against her own softly, inhaling her scent he became intoxicated as he pulled back slightly he uncovered a smile stretching across his entire face. She stood there motionless scrutinizing his every move -- defensive but with a softness in her eyes and one developing in her heart. They stood in silence waiting for the other's reaction, "Well," Skye started, "what do we do now?"
Kevin couldn't help but smile even more, "Hmm, let's see," Kevin made it seem as though he were truly in deep thought, "I don't know about you but I'd like to kiss you again," he moved in and with his hand rose her chin to look at her beautiful face, her lips seemed to beg him, he stroked her cheek and with a faint sigh complied soft at first but growing with anticipation and passion.

"You'll be fine," Viki finished for Ben, "you'll have some male bonding time with your son. I always knew you would be a great father and you will. But the answer -- to your earlier question -- no, I wont be able to help you. Not right now anyway, I really have to check on my own son."
"Oh, you found out Skye was staying with Kevin, huh?"
"What," Viki asked thoroughly bewildered, "I was talking about Joey, he and Kelly broke up. What is this about Kevin and Skye?"
"Well, I assumed you already knew. That's why Benjamin's staying with us."
"Well, I certainly knew nothing of the sort," Viki slammed the door to Llanfair and left in a huff determined to find Kevin and save him from the devil herself.
"Yikes," Ben whispered watching Viki leave.
The tiny four year old entered the foyer rubbing his eyes and yawning.
"Hey, kiddo, let's get you ready for bed, 'kay?"
"You'll tell me a story? Mommy always tells me a story."
"Sure let's get those PJs on first though okay," Ben lifted Benjamin up in the air above his head and proceeded to climb the stairs, "Ahwhhh, it's a bird, it's a plane, no, no wait, it's Benjamin's bed time," Benjamin laughed in delight as Ben plopped Benjamin down on his bed.

The heat rose as they moved as one over to the bed, Kevin gently lay her down as he kissed Skye hungrily, trying to consume her taste, oblivious to everything except her and this moment. Oblivious to his mother standing behind them with a disapproving glare.

Ben finished the story as Benjamin yawned and turned to the right, "Good night, Benjamin, I love you" Ben kissed his forehead ever so slightly and tiptoed to the lamp turning it off where he heard Benjamin turn again and utter the words:
"I love you, too, Daddy," Benjamin settled down in the position he now lay and drifted off to sleep.
The words made Ben melt right then and there. It was the first time Benjamin ever said he loved him and used 'Daddy'. Ben had never felt this way before. He loved Viki but this was different he knew this kid held the very key to his heart and that more than anything scared him as much as it thrilled him.
