TITLE: The Proposal

TIMELINE: Six years after ATS season 1 and BTVS season 4

THE APARTMENT (A FEW HOURS AFTER MIRACLES)

Buffy and Angel were just lying on their bed, just enjoying the quiet time and being together, when Cordy barged into their bedroom.

"What the..." Angel started to say, but was cut off by Cordy.

"Did you tell him, yet?" she asked Buffy, excitedly.

"Yes, Cordy. I told him, I was expecting Xander's love child" Buffy said.

"Cool" Cordy said, then suddenly she realised what Buffy had told her. "You what?" she yelled. She looked over at Buffy and Angel and saw how hard they were trying not to laugh and she said sarcastically "Ha-ha, guys".

"Sorry Cordy" Angel told her "Buffy, did tell me the news".

"AND?" Cordy yelled.

"I think you and Doyle are perfect for each other" Angel told her.

"Not that news, the other news" Cordy asked impatiently.

"Oh, that. Let me put it this way, if my soul wasn't bound, you'd be talking to Angelus right now" Angel said.

"Woo-Hoo" Cordy said, dancing around the bedroom. When she finally calmed down she said "Congratulations guys", hugging both Buffy and Angel, she then said "Dibs on Godmother", and quickly left the room before either of them could comment.

Angel and Buffy looked at each other and Buffy said, "She is just so strange", at the same time as Angel said, "Marry me?"

Buffy sat there silent for about a second before she looked up at him, and said "Are you sure?"

"Buffy, I've wanted to be with you for all eternity from the first second that I saw you, standing their all confused on the steps of Hemery, just after you'd been called. I fell in love with you that very moment"

Buffy kissed him and said, "I love you too. Of course, I'll marry you".

"Really?" Angel could hardly believe that she'd said yes.

"Really. You are all I've ever wanted, since I was 16. You are my life, my heart, my future. I just want to spend my life with you" Buffy told him, meaning every word she uttered.

With that Angel leaned over and kissed Buffy, things were starting to heat up, when Cordy yelled "Are you two coming to work tonight, or are you going to allow the forces of darkness to prevail, so you can get some?"

Buffy and Angel slowly broke apart and reluctantly got up, so they could get ready for work.

ANGEL INVESTIGATIONS

Buffy and Angel entered the office to be greeted by silence, which was broken when Cordy said, "I told them you would like to talk to them", she pointed to where Doyle, Oz and Wesley were standing.

"Thanks Cordy" Buffy said sarcastically "Remind me to give you exactly what you deserve for this, later".

Angel looked around the room and saw that they were staring at him, waiting to be told whatever news Cordy had promised them was coming. He looked at Buffy who nodded her consent, and Angel turned to his friends and said "Congratulate us, Buffy and I are getting married".

Due to this piece of news everyone stood around in shock, including Cordy who was the first to recover by saying "Dibs on Maid of Honour".

While everyone was still speechless, Buffy and Angel looked at each other and he started to tell them the rest, "We're also going to have a baby".

This news seemed to snap everyone out of it. Cordy began dancing around the office, like a child singing "I already knew that", Doyle congratulated them, Oz said it was "Cool" and Wesley wanted to know how it had happened so he could research it. Angel looked at his friends, all with comments and suggestions and he knew it was going to be a long night.

THE APARTMENT - NEXT MORNING

Angel was awoken by the sudden movement of the bed, as he opened his eyes he saw Buffy bolt from the room. {And so it begins} he thought with amazement, when he heard the bathroom door slam. He was still awed that he and Buffy were given this miracle, especially after all the things he had done. When Buffy finally returned, she looked pale and worn out, Angel was immediately concerned.

"Are you ok, honey?" he asked her.

"No, I will be eventually" she replied softly.

Angel pulled her gently into his arms and asked her "Feel any better now?"

"Maybe a little" she said, snuggling further into his embrace "I just can't wait for this to be over and done with".

His concern for her grew, "What? The pregnancy?" he asked.

"No, it makes me feel super connected to you" she answered "I just want the morning sickness bit over with and quickly".

Angel was about to say something else, but when he looked over at her she was already asleep. He wrapped her up, even tighter in his arms and joined her in slumber.

LATER

When Angel woke up that evening, he realised Buffy wasn't in the bedroom. He relaxed somewhat when he heard movement in the apartment. More accurately he heard giggling from his living room, so he knew that the reason Buffy was up so early was she was gossiping with Cordy. Angel quickly pulled on some pants and a shirt and headed in there, he found both girls sitting on the couch, eating ice cream. Actually it was Buffy who was eating now and had apparently been eating for a while as he surveyed the mess on the coffee table. Cordy watched in amusement as Angel, saw how much junk food Buffy had consumed, he just looked so funny with that look of disgust and horror on his face.

"Hey Angel" Cordy said, "I think Buffy got hungry".

"It was just a snack," Buffy said defensively.

"If that's a snack, I'd truly hate to see you when you're starving" Cordy told her.

In Buffy's defence, Angel said, "She didn't eat that much".

"Ok, ok" Cordy said, giving up. She decided to change the topic, "So, you tell everyone in Sunnyhell your good news".

"Nope" Buffy managed to say between mouthfuls.

"But we will tell them soon" Angel told her.

"Can't we just send my mom a wedding invitation, or better yet wait until after our baby's born and send her a card that says congratulations grandma" Buffy said.

"No, we have to tell them, face to face" Angel told her.

"Listen to him Buffy, he's right" Cordy chimed in.

"Ok, so when do we leave," Buffy answered grumpily.
