P'anmunjom is a village in the demilitarized zone in central Korea. It was the location of the truce conference (1951-1953) between representatives of the United Nations forces and the opposing North Korean and Chinese armies. After the armistice, signed there on July 27, 1953, the liaison officers and the guards of the four countries forming the Neutral Nations Supervisory Commission (NNSC) were located there. |
