(by Mattel - MT5666) Joystick or Paddle 1 Player 1 Game Variation |
Astroblast. Have you ever thought, "Wouldn't it be great if someone took the best parts of Space Invaders, Asteroids and Missile Command and threw them together into one game!"? Yeah, neither have I. But it sure seems like someone at Mattel did (or more likely, someone was strapped for an idea and just ripped off these games). This game is like Space Invaders because you are a base at the bottom of the screen, shooting up at things that are falling down at you and moving left or right. It is like Asteroids because you are shooting at Asteroids of different sizes and the larger ones turn into smaller ones that you also need to shoot. It is like Missile Command because when your base gets hit, it makes a sound like the one in Missile Command and the screen does that color changing thing. In addition to falling rocks, you also shoot at
"Spinners", "Pulsars" and UFOs. If a
"Spinner" hits the ground, you lose a base. One thing about this
game that is different from other games of it's kind is that you loose points
for every object that gets past you that you don't shoot. There's really
not much else to say about this game. From my description, it probably
sounds like I don't enjoy the game. It's actually a pretty fun game and
you have good control of the base. Also, it's kind of cool that you can
use either the joystick or paddle controller on this game. It's a pretty
common game, so you can pick up a copy for cheap. |
