Pac-Man
for the Atari 2600 does not live up to the arcade game.  The audio and graphics were below par even for the Atari 2600!  Atari picked up the license and rushed to get the game out in time to sell loads of copies during the holiday season.  As a result, design of the game was rushed and the final product was pretty weak.  However, due to the popularity of the arcade version of Pac-Man, the 2600 version did help revive sales of the Atari 2600 system.  Pac-Man eventually replaced Combat as the game that came with the system.

In Pac-Man, you control a yellow shape (not quite the circle from the arcade version) with a "mouth" that opens and closes eating dots throughout a maze.  You can move up, down, left or right within the confines of the maze.  You are chased by four ghosts (they are all the same color in this version).  Your goal is to eat all of the dots in the maze before the ghosts can catch you.

In each maze, there are 4 larger dots (one in each corner).  When you eat the large dots, the ghosts become somewhat transparent (although it's hard to tell them from their regular state) and you can chase them.  If you catch one, you receive points and send the ghost back to it's starting point in the middle of the maze.  You also receive bonus points for eating a...thing(?)... which appears at random times at your starting point in the middle of the maze.  Because of it's popularity upon release and it's inclusion along with the Atari system, this game is super easy to find for very cheap (in other words, it's about valueless).  Ms. Pac-Man is a much better game.
