Faith

She felt like she was floating as she walked along the grassy hills. She frowned, not knowing exactly where she was but continued to walk. It felt like she was being pulled. She looked down while she was walking and noticed she was wearing a pair of white sandals. She stopped completely and looked down at herself for the first time.

“I’m wearing a dress?” She grumbled.

She stared at the brightly flowered green dress.

“I have to be dreaming and what a God awful dream,” She muttered.

Her frown deepened into a scowl, now why in the hell would she dream about this? She missed the feel of leather against her skin and that’s what she normally dreamed about. Young hot men who wanted her and only her and sometimes Angel would slip in wearing leather, but this?

She shuddered and continued to walk and picked up a pink rose that was lying in the middle of the field.

“As odd goes, this is just freaking nuts,” She yelled out loud and threw the flower down and stomped on it.

“Haven’t they taught you anything in jail?” asked an all too familiar taunting voice.

She didn’t have to bother turning around to know Buffy was standing behind her.

“I take it this is your dream?” She said pointing to the dress.

“Who knows,” Buffy said softly and Faith turned to face her.

She stared, stunned and started to yell,” Why the fuck do I have to wear a dress and you get to wear leather?”

Buffy just smiled slightly and shrugged and walked past her.

“Now wait a minute Miss Thing, stop right there,” Faith yelled but it seemed to her that Buffy couldn’t hear her she just continued walking.

“Do you know what its like?” Buffy said softly, never looking at Faith.

Faith was too busy glaring it felt like they had been walking for hours and the blonde hadn’t uttered a word.

“What the hell are you babbling about?” She snarled.

Buffy turned back to face Faith and she gasped as she saw her older Sister Slayer holding a dagger, that dagger.

“You going to try to kill me again?” She whispered her eyes never leaving the dagger.

Buffy just smiled faintly.

Faith frowned; this had to be the weirdest dream yet. Usually if she dreamed of Buffy it was beating the shit out of her. Complete satisfaction, but something was troubling about this dream and she couldn’t figure it out. It had to do with Buffy and maybe that damn dagger?

“Do you know what it’s like?” Buffy asked again staring at the dagger.

“Would you stop saying that?” Faith snarled.

“You understand?” Buffy whispered and she took the dagger and made a cut in her wrist.

“What the hell are you doing?” Faith yelled, staring at the blood.

“I’m so tired,” Buffy said giving Faith a small, sad, far away look and slashed her other wrist.

“Buffy, stop it!” Faith yelled.

Buffy let the dagger fall from her hand and she slid to her knees and let the blood run down her arm. Faith noticed a slight puddle on the ground and if it was possible in a dream, she felt like hurling.

“Why does it hurt?” Buffy whispered.

Faith brought her head up and stared at the blonde. So many changes, she looked so much older than the last time she had seen her. She carefully walked over to Buffy and slid down beside her. Nothing was said for a few minutes and Buffy broke the silence by giving a small sob.

“It hurts, I don’t want to do this anymore,” She confessed.

Faith was confused, but she gasped as she saw Buffy fall forward.

“Buffy!” She yelled.

She turned the blonde over and stared at her. Her eyes were closing and she noticed her breathing was uneven.

Faith looked up and yelled, “I don’t understand, what am I supposed to know?”

With no answer she looked down at Buffy. The person she always thought of as perfect. The one who had done everything for her. The one she had purposely tried to ruin. She had a lot of time in jail and she could never come up with a reason why she did all that. The Mayor had treated her like a daughter, almost like Giles did to Buffy, but in the end he would have betrayed her, probably eaten her with that whole Ascension thing. Was she just jealous that Buffy had the life that she always wanted? She screwed them all over, even Angel, but he still comes to her. She never thought anyone from Sunnydale would come to see her but Willow had made a small stop before delivering the blow to Angel. Buffy had died.

It was ironic that she sat in confinement after beating up a few inmates from frustration about Buffy’s death that she sat there and cried. Buffy wasn’t the one who was supposed to die, couldn’t they have taken her? She had done nothing right in her life but Buffy, she was the Slayer. She protected the innocent. She wanted to help people.

It really did hurt when she died.

Why does it have to hurt?

She sighed, and brushed the blonde hair out of Buffy’s face. She knew that she had been brought back from the dead. No one actually bothered to tell her, not even Angel. She could just feel it. They had a connection which was something she used to tell herself was a joke, but weren’t they both Slayers? They were part of each other, B use to say that.

“B, what’s going on?” She whispered as she held the Slayer’s head in her lap.

Buffy opened her eyes and smiled a sad smile, “You should be the only one,” She croaked.

Faith stared at her. How many times had she thought that same thing? One dies, another is called. She stared at the blood still dripping from Buffy’s arm. It was a never-ending flow and she swallowed. It was so red.

“Buffy did you do something?” Faith yelled.

“Maybe this is my dream,” Buffy whispered.

“Why would I be in it?” Faith asking already coming up with the fact they were sharing a dream.

“Cause I love you,” Buffy whispered.

Faiths mouth opened, but no words came out.

“We are one Faith, you are part of me. But life goes on, just not mine,” Buffy whispered.

“What the hell did you do?” Faith yelled.

“Made things right,” Buffy whispered.

“Now you listen to me Buffy Summers, take it back,” Faith yelled but noticing Buffy’s eyes closing. She shook Buffy harder and harder but nothing.

“You listen to me! It’s not worth it, please Buffy don’t,” Faith screeched. This was one hell of a dream.

Faith stared at Buffy’s body and noticed the blood was still pouring out of her wounds. It looked like it was turning into a river. Blood was everywhere and Faith couldn’t take her eyes off it.

She heard a small gasp and looked back down at Buffy who was staring at her.

“Damn,” She moaned and gave a brilliant smile

Faith scrunched her face up.

Before she could react, Buffy decked her and sent her body flying. She looked up and saw Buffy staring at her and grinned, “Time to grow up Faith, time for the Slayer to take her place,” She yelled.

Faith closed her eyes and moaned and sat up. She rubbed her eyes and stared at the gray walls of her cell.

“What the fuck was that about?” She grumbled.

Something was happening, something that shouldn’t be.

“Buffy,” She moaned remembering the dream.

She hurt.

It hurts.

“Bitch,” she muttered and laid back down on her bunk to think about her dream.
