An Undecided Love
Max rushed to class so that he wouldn’t be late. He had slept in. Lately Max hadn’t been himself. He was so confused about things. No not things, but a person. Liz Parker. He loved her more than anything. Even when he thought she had slept with Kyle he had never stopped loveing her. Now that he knew the truth..naturally he wanted to take Liz into his arms and hold her, but things weren’t that simple. Max didn’t want to rush into anything. At least not yet. Him, Michael, and Isabel were dealing with finding out their human legacy. Max had to focus on that right now.
His thoughts were interrupted when he walked into Biology to see Liz, sitting in her seat. Obviously concentrating on something. Liz was always so serious when it came to Biology or any kind of science. Just like him. Max smiled at the thought and then took his seat, next to Liz.
Liz knew Max was in the room. She had sensed him. A certain, but good feeling ran through her body everytime he was near. She wished that Max would hold her, but it was obvious that he wasn’t ready for that. Liz had caused him a lot of hurt and pain. She hated herself for that, but at least they were good friends even though she knew that they both wanted more. The night that Max had found out the truth about her and Kyle was something that she would never forget. She was closing the Crashdown when Kyle had came in furious. He was angry that his Dad had been fired, and he blamed Max, Isabel, and Michael.
FLASHBACK OF THAT NIGHT-
“ Liz it is all their fault. If they had kept their damn alien problems a secret. None of us would have been hurt.”
“ Kyle..you’re not being fair. Your dad chose to be involved. Max didn’t make him.”
Kyle ignored her comment. “ You know what I am glad that Max thinks that we slept together! At least I know he is suffering in some way or another.”
Liz was about to speak when she saw a figure standing behind Kyle. It was Max!
FLASHBACK ENDS-
“ Liz, are you okay?” Max asked with concern.
“ Oh um sorry. I was just thinking..” Liz tucked a hair behind her ear and smiled.
Max nodded and then continued reading his book.
Liz sighed at the lack of conversation. How could Max act so casual after everything that has happened? Liz slammed her book shut as the tears began to slide down her cheek.
“ How do you do it? You’re acting like you don’t even know me. Like I am just some other girl.”
“ Liz.”
“ Well, I am sorry Max, but I can’t easily brush my feelings aside, but it’s obvious that you don’t have a problem with it!”
Liz stood up as the bell rang and ran out of the classroom. Regretting what she had said, but she knew that it was too late to take it back now.
Max groaned with anger as he pushed his books off his desk. “ She’s right.” He then placed his face in his hands, unable to do anything, but cry.
LATER THAT EVENING-
Liz laid back on her bed, replaying what she had said to Max, and his face expressions... She was startled by the ringing of the telephone. Liz wiped her eyes and answered the phone.
" Hello."
" Liz babe are you okay? I saw you running out of Biology today, but I couldn't catch up with you."
" Maria I really don't want to talk about it. Can I call you later?"
" Sure."
" Thanks."
" No prob."
Liz hung up the phone and sighed as the tears ran down her face again. She couldn't seem to quit crying. Liz stood up and walked over to her dresser, picking up a picture of her and Max. They looked so happy. "What I would give for things to be like they use to." Liz placed the picture back on her dresser, turning to bed. When suddenly catching a glimpse of something moving,outside her window. She took a deep breath and cautiously crept towards the window. There was someone there! It was Max! Liz quickly opened her window, realizing that the man climbing into her bedroom wasn't Max. Liz gasped, picked up a baseball bat and lifted it over her head.
Zan saw Liz holding the baseball bat. He quickly held his hands out to stop her. " Hey holdup babe. I am not a badguy."
" Who are you?"
"I am your lover's double. Well his cooler one anyway."
" Zan?"
" Hey, that's the name. Now put down the bat."
Liz nodded and motioned Zan to sit down as she closed her window.
" I thought you were killed?"
Zan sighed. " Listen Hot Tamale. Rath and Lonnie attempted to kill me although I am not sure why. We were like family. All I know is that we were walking down the streets of New York. I was dribbling the new basketball that I had found in the trash.. Anyway, next thing I know someone pushed me from behind into this truck. I woke up sometime later in an alley with this old guy. He said he had found me almost dead. Now I am here. Rath and Lonnie are after me. I still don't know why, but they want me dead. Max was the only one I could turn to. Lonnie said how we had goody good doubles here in Roswell.
" So why did you come to me and not Max? How did you even know about me?"
" You ask a lot of questions for a women."
" Do you want to stay here or not?" Zan nodded and then continued.
" Lonnie mentioned you after she had told me and Rath about Max and the others. She said that you were his true love. I came to you because well I am going to be honest I would much rather stay with a beautiful chick..um I mean woman than an ugly double.
Liz's eyes widened when she realized Zan was hurt. " Oh my gosh your hurt. Hold on I can go get the first aid." Liz began to leave when Zan grabbed her arm.
" No need." Zan touched his face healing the wounds. Liz nodded with a sarcastic smile.
" Right. I forgot."
" Hey babe. Don't get me wrong. I still need you." Zan muttered under his breath.
" What?"
" Oh nothing..it's all good."
Liz cleared her mind and then grabbed the phone. " We need to let Max, Isabel, and Michael know what's going on."
" Okay, but will you stay?"
" Yeah. Sure." Liz dialed Max's number. On the first ring he answered.
" Hello."
" Hi Max. It's Liz."
" Liz about."
" Max I need you to come over."
" Come over?"
" Please Max, and bring Michael and Isabel.'
" Okay."
" Okay, bye."
She hung up the phone and turned to find Zan standing next to her. " What are you doing?"
" If you were my girl I wouldn't hesitate to come over."
" Yeah...um..it's just things between Max and I are just complicated. Thats all."
Max and Isabel picked up Michael and hurried over to Liz's. Michael scratched his head. " What the hell is this all about?"
Max kept his eyes on the road. " I don't know Michael."
The ride to Liz's was silent. Once they arrived all three of them climbed Liz's roof and then knocked on her window. Liz rushed over and opened her window.
Max, Michael, and Isabel stood in instant shock as their eyes locked on Zan. Michael was the first to speak. " Hey where are your friends you little shit." Michael lunged at Zan, but Liz stopped him.
" Leave him alone Michael. He isn't like Rath or Lonnie."
Max felt his heart rip when he saw Liz jump to Zan's aid. " What are you doing here with Liz. Why not come to me? I thought you were dead." Max struggled to keep his anger under control.
" I don't know." Zan smiled and reached for Liz's arm.
Max couldn't help himself. He was sick of being so passive. He would fight for Liz. Max pushed Zan away from Liz. " Don't you dare touch her!" Z
an rebelled and lunged at Max, but Max resisted. Liz began to cry. " No you guys stop! Max, Zan!" Liz couldn't believe Max was doing this. She sighed and then attempted to break the fight up. She tried to wedge herself in between Zan and Max, but it was no use. Liz turned to Michael for help,but it was obvious that he was enjoying it way to much and Isabel couldn't do anything but watch in disgust.
Max pushed Zan onto the floor and then held him down. " You stay away from Liz. Do you hear me? What you think you can march in here with all your piercings and expect people to pity you? I don't think so.
" You don't deserve her anyways. After all she sacrificed for you and then you turn away from her!"
`Liz threw her arms up. " I give up." Screaming it at the top of her lungs.
Max and Zan stopped fighting the both of them turning to Liz. " I can't take it anymore. I am so sick of you guys fighting. There are bigger issues that need to be dealt with, and Max...how can you say or not say something to me, but act like you care? You know I didn't lie to you about Kyle to hurt you. I did it for you and Michael and Isabel and the whole planet. AHH." Liz ran out of her bedroom, crying.
Zan began to run after Liz, but Max held his hand out. " Don't even try it!" Max then ran after Liz.
Zan sighed and sat down on Liz's bed. " Stupid dude. I can't believe he is my double!"
Michael rolled his eyes and then sat up. " Listen here. You may be related to us in some stinking way,but you're in Roswell now, not New York. Max is our leader not to mention my best friend. So you had better be showing him and us some respect or you can get the hell out. Oh and leave Liz the hell alone."
Zan stood up. " I can't. Michael crossed his arms. " and why the hell not?"
" I don't know. There is just something about her man. She makes me feel like I am worth something."
" What. How can that be?"
" Oh just fuck off." Zan kicked the shelf and then climbed out Liz's bedroom window.
Liz ran down the stairs and was heading for the doors when Max grabbed her by the waist and turned her around. " I am not letting you walk out on me Liz Parker."
" Max like you said we can't be together."
" No LIz I was being stupid. The reason why I wasn't pursuing our relationship as soon as I found out was because ...I was scared."
" Scared?"
" Yes, because my love for you is so powerful...I didn't know if I could control myself around you. Every min. and everyday all I can do is think about wrapping you in my arms and kissing you.."
" Max."
Max was about to kiss Liz when they both heard a sound from outside. Liz saw Zan running away. " No Max we can't let him leave."
" Why?"
" Max he is your past and the key to your future, and he has been real dear to me. As a friend."
Liz then bolted out the door, screaming Zan's name as Max followed. Max began thinking. " Have I lost you Liz?"
Liz ran as fast as she could, trying to catch up with Zan. " Zan please wait!"
" Why should I babe? I have no reason to stay. Even my f***ing double won't help me!"
" For me. Stay for me." Zan stopped running and turned towards Liz. Neither one of them could say anything.
Max caught up with them and broke the silence. " Liz, what's going on now?" Max sighed when he didn't get a response. He then looked to Zan. " Listen I am sorry about earlier. Will you stay with us?"
" Sure as hell will, but only because Liz asked me. Your opinion or want means nothing to me dude." Zan brushed pass Max. " Liz I will be waiting in your room. Okay babe?"
" Yeah..um..sure..I will be right up actually."
" Cool." Zan then walked away.
Max brushed his hands through his hair and sighed. " Maybe it would be better if he stayed somewhere else?"
" Why would you say that? I am the only one he trusts."
" Exactly why we need to have him stay somewhere else."
" Max. What is your problem?" Max shoved his hands in his pockets and began to turn around, but Liz grabbed his arm.
" Max?"
" Liz. I can't stand the thought of you being alone with him."
" Max you have to trust me."
" Liz he likes you."
" Max. So what if he does. You know I am not your pet. I can meet new people. I don't need your permission."
" Liz I know that. Damn it Liz I love you."
" Max I know you do and I love you."
" Let me hold you...kiss you.." Max was about to kiss her when Liz pulled away. " Max. When you found out the truth about Kyle and I. You made it clear you wanted space before we jumped back into..this. As soon as Zan came to me you immediantly decided that you wanted to be with me. Can you honestly tell me that your actions aren't out of jealousy, but love?
" I..I.." Liz sighed as a single tear slid down her cheek. She began to walk away, but suddenly turned around. Liz pushed Max a litte. " Why are you so afraid to love me?" Max began crying unable to say anything. Liz whimpered and then ran back into the Crashdown. Max lowered his head. " Iam sorry Liz."
Zan sat on Liz's bed, attempting to take his earring out that was bugging him, but was startled to hear Liz burst in the room crying. She ignored Zan and fell onto her bed. Burying her head into her pillow. The sound of Liz crying broke his heart. His whole life he had kept himself from crying. Sometimes he thought it was just because he had no one to cry for. Zan knelt down besides Liz's bed, so that he was facing her. " Babe? Please don't cry."
Zan slapped himself in the face. Why the hell was he talking like that. He was an agressive person. A fighter. What was Liz Parker doing to him? " Is it about ..Max?"
" Yes." Liz said. Her voice muffled by the pillow.
" Tell me what the shit did this time?" Liz sighed and then sat up, wiping her eyes.
" Zan I love him so much. It kills me....." Liz told Zan everything from the moment Max saved her to that evening. When she was finished, Zan stood up, his eyes widen in shock.
" What is it?" Zan turned and looked to Liz.
" The love and history that you two have together baffles me. Damn. I hope one day I can have a love like that."
" What about Ava?"
" Heh...no that wasn't true love. I mean I know the chick loved me and all, but I never felt that way about her. You see when Rath, Lonnie, Ava, and I were together. Ava..I guess developed this crush...or whatever for me. I mean she knew that I didn't feel that way about her, but she wouldn't give up. So I kinda just went a long with it."
" Oh...Zan what are you going to do with your life? Stay here in Roswell?"
" I don't know princess. I have always depended on myself. Never really had anyone to care for, or to care for me." If Liz didn't know any better she could have swore that she saw a tear leave Zan's eye, but her thought was diminished by him standing up. " Oh, but what the f***. I don't need anyone."
" Wait here."
" Where are you going?"
" I am going to go get some popcorn and a movie." Liz then got up and ran downstairs. Zan scratched his head in confusion, but was distracted when Liz ran upstairs, 15min. later, with a movie and popcorn. She quickly popped the movie in and sat on her bed. Patting the space next to her, for Zan to come over. He sat down next to her and awaited the movie.
" What's the movie?"
" Me, Myself, and Irene."
" Who?"
Liz laughed. " Just watch."
The only sound heard from Liz Parker's bedroom, all night, was the continious laughter from her and Zan.
Max paced back in forth in his room. While listening to the Counting Crows. He was so deep in thought he didn't hear Michael walk in. Michael repeatedly called Max's name, but Max didn't respond. Michael rolled his eyes and then walked over to Max's stereo and turned it off. " You don't need that crappy music anyways. The music itself will make you depressed."
" Go away Michael."
" Maxwell you can't keep this up. You're like a walking zombie."
" Go away Michael." Michael ignoring Max.
" You love Liz right?"
Max stopped pacing and looked directly at Michael with saddened eyes. " Of course I do. I love Liz."
Michael was bewildered at all of the emotion Max was throwing at him. He always tried to be a jerk or sarcastic when he came face to face with mellowdramatic problems, but he wasn't able to now. What Max was going through killed him.
" Listen Maxwell. I know Liz loves you, as does the whole city of Roswell. Okay when you found out about Liz supposedly sleeping with Kyle. What did you do?
" I immediantly tried to get her to tell me the truth."
" And."
" And then I left her alone about it. I gave up."
" Exactly. If you give up now you're literally placing her in another man's hands. Preferably Zans."
" Tonight when I confessed my love for her she said I was doing it out of jealousy."
" Were you?"
" I don't know. Whatever action pushed me to do it the feelings were just as pure."
" Man Maxwell. Why is it so hard for you? I mean when you broke up with her that one time...um after I was sick. Didn't you say it was because you needed balance?"
" Yeah."
" Maxwell..um..hello. You seem more balanced when she is around. It's when she's not around that makes you act like a minature eminem. Next you'll be driving her over a bridge.."
Max immediantly hit Michael. " That's not funny."
" AHH..yeah sorry. I got carried away." Max sat down on his bed.
" What do I do?"
" Fight for her, or you can talk about her, do nothing, and then lose her." J
ust then they both heard Isabel and her mother scream. " Michael are you up in Max's room?!? We told you to leave him alone!"
" Oh shit." Michael then quickly ran into Isabel's room before either of the Evan's ladies came upstairs. Max laughed as he whispered thank you, to Michael. He then fell back asleep, dreaming of Liz.
Liz woke up, bright and early. Liz smiled at the thought of today being Saturday. She stretched a little and then sat up, immediantly noticing Zan on the floor fast asleep. Liz smiled. Her and Zan had such a fun time last night. Well until Zan got a popcorn kernel stuck in his lip ring. Liz laughed out loud, just thinking of Zan's face when it happened.
Zan was startled out of his sleep when he heard someone laughing. " Hey babe. What's so funny."
Liz shook her head. " Nothing."
" So um..we had probably go get ready."
" Ready for what?"
" Oh.um I have to work today and you have to meet Maria and Tess."
" Do I?"
" Yes, but first we are going shopping."
" What? Why?"
" You need new clothes."
" Listen babe Iam totally grooved out with what I am wearing."
" Zan. Trust me on this okay. I am going to go get ready. Um..just stay there." Before Liz went into the bathroom. Zan spoke up.
" Hey Liz babe."
" Yeah?"
" I had a lot of fun last night. The most I have had in along time."
" Me too Zan." They both smiled and then Liz went into the bathroom.
AN HOUR LATER
Zan began pacing around Liz's room. Waiting for her to be done. " Hey Senorita! How much longer?"
Liz opened the door. " I m ready."
" What takes you chicks so long?"
" I wanted to look okay."
" Oh you look more than okay." Zan muttered under his breath.
" Huh?"
" Nothing."
Zan sat on Liz's bed and watched her brush her long, brown, silky hair. Damn. She sure was beautiful, but not just physically, but her personality too.
" Okay, lets go. Um wait, but out the window my parents dont know you're here."
" Hey you go through the door and I will take the window."
" Why?"
" I don't want you to ruin your skirt." Before Liz could say anything, Zan was already out the window.
Liz walked downstairs and greeted her parents. Then she spotted Maria's Jetta pulling in. She quickly ran outside to Maria.
" Hey Maria. Ready for some shopping?"
" When aren't I Liz?"
" Good point."
" So where's Zan?"
Liz scanned the area. Suddenly she saw him dart around the corner, laughing. He quickly jumped in the car and told Maria to move. Liz turned and looked at Zan in the backseat. " What did you do?"
Zan began laughing harder. " There was some ladies underwear hanging out her window." Zan couldn't finish he was laughing so hard. Maria was also laughing.
" Oh my gosh. Please Zan dont tell us. By the way my name is Maria."
" Hey. Nice ride."
" Oh I know. Isn't great?" Liz rolled her eyes, while laughing.
The three of them arrived at the Roswell Mall. Maria parked the Jetta and they all hopped out, to began their shopping adventure. Store by store, Maria and Liz were looking for new clothes for Zan. Finally the went to " Lookin Good." The store had everything. It also had the perfect outfit for Zan. Liz gave her opinion first. " Wow. You look good." Maria quickly agreed. Zan was wearing a fleece navy blue sweater, with hood. A darker Khakis, and black boots. Maria and Liz then took him to a hairdresser and she cut his long spikes into shorter ones. The girls also made Zan agree to take out the lip piercings, but they let him keep the ear ones.
Zan looked into a mirror and he stood shocked. He had never seen himself this way before. He had to admit he liked the whole pampering idea.
Max, Michael, Isabel, and Tess conviently were also shopping that day. Tess was throwing away her soda cup when she spotted Zan.
" Oh my God Isabel. Look at him."
Tess quickly noticed that he had his arm around Liz and was walking with a laughing Maria. Isabel peered over and almost fell over in shock. Michael and Max were curious as to what the girls were staring at, but they didn't need to look to hard for Zan, Liz, and Maria were already standing across from them. Max quickly noticed Zan's dramatic change in appearance and that he was touching Liz. Maria smiled and walked over to Michael.
Zan eyed Tess. Seeings how she looked like Ava.
" Hi Iam Tess."
" Hey. Im Zan."
" Nice look." Tess was totally checking him out and that made Zan uncomfortable and Liz knew this. Zan turned and whispered into Liz's ear.
" Im going to go get a soda, babe. Let me know when the pyscho chick is history, later."
Maria noticed Zan leave. " Hey Zan wait." The two of them went to go buy a soda.
Liz was about to speak to Max and Isabel when she heard Zan call her name. " Hey babe. You want something to drink?"
" Yeah a coke, thanks." Zan winked at her and then continued walking with a talking Maria.
Liz sighed and then looked at Max. Neither one of them could say anything. Michael grabbed Isabel and they headed off in Zan and Maria's direction, quickly followed by Tess. Leaving Max and Liz alone. Max could feel the tears forming in his eyes. He couldn't find the words. He quickly walked closer to Liz and pulled her into his arms. Whispering in her ear.
" I love you Liz Parker and I am not giving up on us."
" Max what about your destiny..."
" Liz I dont care about my destiny. We will be together Liz, for I will die trying."
Liz held on to Max tighter. She felt so safe and secure in his arms.
" I love you too Max."
Max began whispering in her ear. " Liz about last night. I don't know why I reacted, but the feelings were pure. Liz I am a scared little boy when it comes to our love, and I am deeply sorry for it, but know this you are my destiny Liz. We will be together."
" I think we already are." Max kissed Liz just as the others were walking back. Zan noticed it first. He felt like his heart was being cut and then taken out of his body.
He then whispered. " If being with Max makes you happy. Then I am happy for you Liz Parker." Zan then handed Maria Liz's drink.
" Hey Maria I am going to go sit in the car." Zan quickly turned away, but Maria could have sworn she saw a tear leave his eye. She watched him walk away and the wipe his face. She was right. Zan was crying.
Maria sighed with sadness. " Zan. You've finally found true love. I am just sorry it had to be Liz."
Liz and Max continued to kiss. Liz was so caught in the moment. The way Max's lips caressed hers made her feel like it was only her and Max. She wrapped her arms around his neck. Max responded by tightly holding her tiny waist. Liz could feel Max's hands going beneath her shirt and up her back. Liz finally remembered that they werent alone, but standing in the middle of the mall plaza. With everyone watching. Liz pulled away smiling. " Max..um everyone is watching."
" I don't care. My love for you isn't something I am ashamed of."
Max then pulled from Liz and brought his voice to a holler. " I love Liz Parker!" Everyone in the mall turned to Max. Some were awing and others were clapping. Liz could feel herself blushing. She was flatterd, but a little embarassed. Max then turned to her. " You see. Our love can overcome all obstacles. Liz I am sorry for being a jerk to you. For hiding behind our love instead of embracing it, and I will live every waking moment of my life, proving my love for you." Liz leaned in and kissed Max.
" Max you dont have to prove anything to me. I have never been doubtful about how you feel about me." Max brought Liz closer and closer to him. " Maybe we should go somewhere private." Liz smiled and then reached for his hand. Liz turned to Maria.
" Maria", but stopped when she realized that Zan wasn't there. Liz let go of Max's hand and walked over to Maria. Pulling her to the side. " Where is Zan?"
" Um..he saw you and Max kissing. Then...he walked off."
Liz gasped. " Oh no. I have to find him." Liz turned around, facing Max. " I need to find him. Do you understand?"
" You know I do, but Liz I dont want you going alone. I will go with you."
" Okay." Liz smiled and then gave Max a quick kiss. " Thank you." Max smiled.
Rath hit Lonnie in the arm. " Hey look it's that punk Max."
" So it is and he's with that chick, Liz."
" Mmm. She's a hot little number and boy can she kiss."
" Stay on track, baby."
" Now how are we going to get Zan?"
" Zan? Why go only for Zan when we can get Max too."
" How do you figure and say we do get Max. He won't tell us where the Granilih is. Remember we tried it already."
" Yeah, but maybe we didn't go about it the right way."
" What? Baby you're flipping."
" I know a way we can get Max and Zan in one catch."
Zan sighed, while unlocking Maria's car. He was about to get in when he saw Liz and Max running towards him.
" Zan!" Liz called out followed by Max.
" Hey wait."
Zan shut the car door, and faced Liz and Max. " What the hell do you want?" Liz backed into Max, shocked that Zan would respond to her like that.
" Zan why are you acting like this?"
" Figure it out. You spend all of this time with me. Damn it. I thought we really bonded. I even changed clothes to impress you. Then as soon as I turn my back, you're making out with Max. I'm hurt."
" Zan, I didn't mean to..."
" No save it. You know what actually..thank you!"
" What?"
" For reminding me why I never got close to someone. For giving me another reason to never fall in love! I hope you two are happy." Zan began to walk away.
" No wait you have it all wrong. Please here me out."
Max's eyes widened. " What do you mean, he's got it all wrong!?"
Liz flipped her hair back and then sighed. " Both of you sit down!"
Neither one of them argued, each sitting on the bench nearby. " Zan, I was with Max before I met you. I love Max. He and I were going through a really rough time when I met you. Then you and I met. I believe that we are a lot alike. Zan, I care about you so much it hurts. I do love you as a person, and I want you to be in my life as a dear friend. I am sorry for hurting you. It is the last thing that I would ever want to do. If I had met you before Max. I know there would have been something, but we didn't. Please Zan don't be angry with me. I couldn't live with myself if you didn't forgive me." Liz couldn't stop the tears from falling.
Zan stood up and walked to Liz. He reached out and wiped her tears, gently, with his thumb. " Please don't cry. I am sorry for expecting you to forget Max. I want you to know that I forgive you. Know this...I will always be here for you. You can always count on me. I do love you Liz Parker. Thank you for giving me something to remember. Thank you for teaching me how to love."
Liz then hugged Zan. " I love you too. You punk." Liz and Zan laughed.
Zan turned to hear his name being called out by Maria." I am going to go see what the blabber mouth chick wants."
Liz laughed. " Okay."
Liz took a deep breath and then faced Max. " Max I.." Before Liz could say anything, Max spoke to her.
" Liz. Seeing you talk to Zan. The way you handled the whole situation.....I have so much respect for you and I love you. Thank you for being honest with your feelings."
" Thank you Max for understanding." Max brought Liz closer to him until there was no possible way for them to be closer. Max slowly brought his lips to Liz's so that they gently met and then grew into a passionate kiss.
" Lonnie look at that. His hands all over him. She needs a man like me. With class."
" Save it Rath. We got work to do. I want you to do some research." " What kind." " Find everything you can about Elizabeth Parker." " You got it babe." Liz grabbed Max's hand and both of them headed for his Jeep, so that they could be alone. While walking towards the Jeep they waved goodbye to their friends. Maria or any of the others had to ask. They all knew that Max and Liz needed some time alone. Max and Liz kissed once more and then jumped into the Jeep, heading to Max's place. Rath and Lonnie quickly hopped into their yellow pinto, preparing to follow Max. " Hurry up Rath." " Iam chick. Hold on. Damn." Max couldn't keep the smile on his face from disappearing. He was so incredibly happy. Max drove with one hand on the wheel and the other holding Liz's hand. " I love you Liz Parker." Liz smiled. " I love you too." Liz unfastened her seatbelt and moved closer to Max so that they were thigh to thigh. Then she brought her hand so that it was rubbing his stomach. " Now, Liz Parker if you keep that up then I am going to have to pull over." Liz laughed and then began kissing his neck. " Promise." Max took a deep breath. He wasn't going to let Liz get to him. He had to be in control. Damn. Why did he even bother. Max sighed in defeat and then pulled over on the side of the highway 285. " Hmm..this road brings back memories." Max smiled as he turned off the engine. Then he unfastened his seatbelt, bringing Liz closer to him so that she was practically on his lap. Max looked into Liz's eyes. " God I love you." " I love you." Max caressed her face with his thumb and then brought her lips to his. Kissing her passionately and forcefully. He didn't care about being gentle. Their love was more powerful than that. Liz ran her hands through Max's hair and then wrapped them around his neck. Rath and Lonnie were driving along when they saw Max's Jeep, sitting on the side of the road. " Lonnie what the hell is he doing?" " Whatever it is. It won't be for long." They pulled and then parked behind Max. Max or Liz didn't notice. They were too involved. " Let's go Rath." Lonnie and Rath hopped out of the car, holding hand guns. Lonnie walking towards the passenger and Rath to the driver's. Liz pulled back from Max, preparing to speak sweet words to him, when she swore she saw someone creeping up on them. " Max." Max smiled, speaking Liz's name and then attempted to kiss her again. " No Max." Max stopped kissing Liz. " What's wrong?" " Max someone is coming over here." " It's probably Michael, trying to be a jerk." Max laughed. Liz took a deep breath and quickly glanced in the strangers direction, unable to see a face, but a gun! " Max, whoever it is has a gun!" Max's eyes widen. " Okay Liz I want you to slide down below the dashboard. " Max what about you?" " Liz!" Liz didn't argue with him. The commanding tone in his voice was enough. Max locked the doors and slid the keys into the ignition. While turning them, he peered into his side mirror. To see Lonnie!, but if that was Lonnie then who was sneaking up on the passenger's side? Max reached his hand down and caressed Liz's face. " Whatever you see or hear, stay down there!" " Max?" Liz said completey freaked out. Max started the car and pushed down on the gas pedal. The Jeep jerked out onto the road, at first out of control, but once Max was away from Rath and Lonnie he took full control of the Jeep. Rath and Lonnie swore then hopped into the Pinto, preparing to follow Max and Liz. " Okay Rath. Iam driving. You are just too f***ing slow." " Then what I am I doing?" " You're going to shoot." Rath smiled, loading the gun with more bullets as Lonnie sped off after the target. Max gave Liz the okay to sit up in the seat. " Max who was that?" " Lonnie and I think Rath." " Oh no. Zan was right about them." " One question. If they are after Zan then why are they chasing us?" Liz didn't answer, her eyes full of fear. Max noticed this and his heart cried for her. He knew she knew that. "Liz I won't let anything happen to you." Liz reached for Max's hand. "I know." --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Zan, Maria, Michael, Tess, and Isabel finally finished shopping and headed out to the parking lot. Maria sighed. " So guys what do you think Max and Liz are doing?" Everyone responded in laughter, even Zan which made Maria happy. Isabel patted Maria's back. " I know my brother. They are probably taking a walk in the desert." Michael immediantly started laughing and then turned to Isabel. " Oh get off your princess stool and face reality. I know Max. He talks to me. That dog's getting busy. Taking walks in the desert my ass. More like laying in the desert." Isabel playfully punched Michael and then they all loaded into the Jetta, heading to the Crashdown. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rath continued yelling at Lonnie. " Go faster babe!" Lonnie rolled her eyes and then pushed down on the gas pedal. Liz stared into the side mirror, to see a yellow pinto, tailgating them. No wait they switched into the lane next to them. " Max they are coming up next to us." Max glanced in his mirror to see that Liz was right. He also noticed that they were coming up on Liz's side. " Damn it. Liz get down. Rath has a gun." Liz didn't respond. " Now Liz." She relunctantly crawled down by the dashboard. Rath and Lonnie were now beside them. Max turned to see Rath, looking for someone. Liz! Max looked to her direction to make sure she wasn't getting up. Suddenly Max heard a gunshot, as the glass broke, he felt a piercing pinch in his upper right shoulder. Followed by Liz screaming. " Max!" Liz immediantly began getting up, but Max wouldn't let her. " Stay down no matter what!! " Another shot rang out, it not hitting anyone, but the remaining glass on the passenger's window. Max heard Liz wince with pain. " Liz! " Max glanced down to see her face and hands bleeding. " Oh shit."
" No Max. Iam okay."
" No Liz you're not!" Max groaned at the pain of his shoulder. Liz opened the glove compartment and took out a cloth. Ignoring Max, Liz sat up in the passenger's seat.
" Liz I told you.." Liz ignored him again, ripping his shirt at the bullet wound. Then placing the cloth to the wound, applying pressure.
" Liz don't worry about it." Just then Max realized that Rath was about to fire once more. " Liz get down!" Rath fired, but not at them. At Max's front tires. The Jeep swirved out of control, but Max hauled it to a stop, without hitting anything.
" Max we have to get out of here." Max nodded and then opened the driver's side door. He stepped out, then helping Liz. To their surprise Rath and Lonnie were still driving.
" Lonnie stop. They aren't dead. Look they are getting out of the Jeep!"
" Shit." Lonnie made a u-turn and sped towards Max and Liz.
Liz and Max noticed this. She grabbed Max's hand and they both jumped over the rail, and began running into the desert. To their benefit, it was getting dark.
" Liz wait. Maybe I should stay here. To distract them. I want you to go."
Liz cupped Max's face in her hands. " If you stay, then I stay. We are in this together."
Max kissed her, before they ran off into the rocky hills and desert, not knowing what fate would bring them. Lonnie and Rath parked their yellow Pinto beside Max's Jeep.
" Lonnie, now what are we going to do?"
" Follow them."
" What! You're one crazy chick!"
" Although were going to need help"
" Lonnie, who in the hell is going to help us?"
" Iam sure the FBI would be interested to know that there really are aliens in Roswell."
" What? Um hello we are aliens."
" Hybrids."
" Whatever."
" No offense Lonnie, but I don't want to be caught by the FBI."
" We won't. I want you to place a distress call on your phone. Saying that their are aliens, fleeing into the desert."
" Wait that hot Parker chick isn't an alien.
" They don't know that.
"And didn't Nasedo destroy the special unit anyways?"
" Thats what they think."
" And then what?"
" And then we wait for the FBI to bring them to us."
Liz and Max continued to run, not letting go of the other's hand. Liz noticed Max wince with pain. " Max wait."
" What's wrong?"
" No Max's it's you. I am worried about you."
" What? Liz.." She ignored Max and led him to a rock, having him sit down. Then she examined his wound. Max could easily see her pain and fear.
" Liz. Iam okay."
" Max who heals you?"
" Usually I can heal myself, but when I get weak, my powers are stalled. Liz, trust me. I will be fine." Liz leaned in and kissed him. Max brought his hands up and placed them on each side of her face, kissing her back. Liz pulled away, but not letting her eyes drift away from Max's.
" I'm scared Max." Max brought Liz into his arms, tightly holding her.
" I'll die before I let anything happen to you." Max kissed Liz's forehead.
" Come on." Reaching and grabbing her hand, they ran, looking for a place to sleep for the night.
Michael and Maria were closing the Crashdown, as the others sat and talked. Maria sighed and glanced at the clock. It read 9:45 P.M. " Michael where in the hell are Liz and Max?"
" I don't know, but we should have heard from by now."
Isabel spoke up. " Michael's right. I think somethings wrong."
Zan stood up and walked over to Michael, Maria, and Isabel. " There is."
Michael rolled his eyes at Zan's comment. " Thanks Zan. Let's worry everyone just a little bit more."
Isabel hit Michael in the arm and then faced Zan. " Zan what do you mean?"
" Lonnie and Rath are in Roswell. I can feel it." Michael was about to respond to Zan's comment, but was startled, along with everyone else, by Tess's scream.
They all ran over to her. Isabel worried enough about Max and Liz touched Tess's shoulder. " What's wrong?"
" Listen." Tess turned the volume of the radio up.
" Tonight everyone in Roswell is spooked by the idea of aliens in Roswell once again. The report is that a group of FBI agents are here looking for two aliens. Their names are unknown, except that they were last seen in a Jeep on highway 285 South."
Maria and Isabel broke into tears. Michael was the only one able to say anything. " Max and Liz.."
Maria immediantly responded. " Wait. Liz isn't an alien."
Isabel spoke through her tears. " They don't know that."
Zan standing behind everyone spoke up. " Exactly. This is what Rath and Lonnie want. To have the FBI hunt them. Then they are..."
Michael finished. " That places Max and Liz right where they want them."
Max stopped running when he felt Liz's hand slip from his. " Liz! " Max yelled as he turned around to see her fall down.
" Max I can't...run...any...longer." Liz speaking between breaths. Max nodded acknowledging that he needed a break also. He knelt beside her, cradling Liz in his arms. They were both startled by the sound of a helicopter.
" Max, what or who is that?"
" I don't know, but they can't be good."
" This is the FBI. Put your hands up and surrender."
" Oh my God Max!" Liz cried.
" Shit. Frigg'in Rath and Lonnie."
" How did the FBI get involved? Max I mean I thought the special unit was destroyed?"
" So did I."
" Max if they ever got ahold of you...I don't know what I would do." Liz took a deep breath as the tears streamed down her pained cheeks.
" Go Max."
" What?!?"
" They won't do anything to me. I'm not alien." Max grabbed Liz's shoulders, his face less than an inch away.
" No! You hear me?!? If they are anything like Pierce was...I won't leave without you. Were in this together remember?" Liz kissed Max.
" I love you."
They both stood up and ran away from the helicopter, hand in hand. Liz screamed as the shots were being fired from the helicopter. " Don't give up Liz."
Max's eyes widened when he saw a semi-formed cave ahead. " Liz, were almost there." Gripping Max's hand, Liz sighed with relief. They approached the entrance of the cave. Max having Liz enter first. Once they were both inside, Max and Liz collapsed into eachother's arms. Max tightly holding Liz as she cried. " Shhh..sweetie. It's gonna be okay." Max began thinking that as soon as they were safe and at home. Things would change. He wasn't going to risk Liz's life like this..ever...again.
Rath and Lonnie sat back, in a cheap motel room, drinking.
" Lonnie. It looks like the Special Unit is hot on Max and Liz's trail."
" Yeah baby. We can sit here and relax. Not having to do anything."
BACK AT THE CRASHDOWN(11:47P.M.)
Isabel paced back and forth. " Okay so what are we going to do?" Michael sighed.
" I don't know. I mean we dont even know where the hell they are."
Zan sat up. "Wait we may not know where Liz and Max are, but I know we could find Rath and Lonnie. They would have to know." Michael nodded.
" Hey Zan's right. Surprisingly. Come on."
IN THE CAVE- THE NEXT MORNING
The sun shining on Max and Liz's face, immediately woke them up. Max leaned over, checking on Liz. " Come on. We had better keep moving." Max then stood up and walked to the cave opening. Liz sat up and watched Max. Why was Max, keeping his distance from her? Liz sighed and then stood up, walking over to Max. She wrapped her arms around Max, to her disbelief he pulled away. " Lets go." Max started walking when he realized Liz wasn't directly behind him, but a couple of paces back. " Liz, whats wrong?" Liz picked her pace up, passing Max.
" I don't know you tell me." Max sighed. Muttering, " Damn it." Under his breath. Max ran until he caught up with Liz, grabbing her waist and turning her around. " Liz I am sorry."
" Why do you keep pushing me away Max?"
" Liz, all of this. Has made me realize that you...us being together is putting you in danger." Liz was about to respond, but was stopped by the sound of approaching footsteps. Max and Liz turned to see FBI agents coming up over the rocks. "Liz, run!" Max and Liz ran as fast as they could, but it was obvious that they couldn't outrun the FBI agents.
Michael, and the others were in Maria's Jetta. Michael driving of course. " Michael why are you driving my car?" Maria asked sarcastically.
" because you drive like a girl."
" Iam a girl."
" good for me." Maria was about to hit Michael when she saw Max's Jeep pulled off to the side of the road. " Oh my God Michael pull over! It's Max's Jeep!" Micahel swerved Maria's car over to the side, nearly hitting the Jeep. With no time to argue about Michael's driving they all hopped out of the car.
Isabel sighed. " They must have gone through the desert."
Tess ran to Max's Jeep, fixing the popped tires with her powers. " There you guys now we can follow Max and Liz in the Jeep." Everyone cheered for Tess and they jumped into the Jeep, with Isabel driving. She started the vehicle and pressed down on the gas as the Jeep sped off into the desert after their dearly beloved friends.
Liz and Max ran in pure fear. Liz fell down, with Max not knowing, seeings how they weren't holding hands. She could hear the FBI agents getting closer. Did she care? At least she would save Max. A part of her gave up knowing that Max was going to leave her once they were home.
Max continued to run. " Come on Liz." Max turned around when he didn't hear her respond. Max yelled with anger when he saw Liz lying far behind him. " NO!" The FBI agents were within two feet of her. Max ran towards Liz. He wouldn't give up on her.
Isabel and the others screamed when they saw Liz and Max. Isabel pressed down as hard as she could on the gas pedal. The Jeep flew through the desert. " Hang on guys!"
Max made contact with the agents. Hitting and punching them. Trying to get them off Liz. Max looked up when he saw the Jeep! His Jeep! Max held his hand out, throwing all of the agents down, and knocking them out, cold. Max lifted Liz into his arms, carrying her towards the approaching Jeep. Isabel stopped, and got out, helping Max and Liz in. There wasn't time for a cozy reunion and she knew that. That would come later.
Once Max and Liz were inside, Isabel turned the Jeep around, heading back home.
Maria called Valenti, to let him know what was going on, so that they would be able to speed through Roswell, without causing too much of a scene. Isabel pulled up in the alley by the Crashdown, to let everyone out. She was going to park the Jeep, somewhere else and then meet up with them. They all hopped out and climbed up the ladder, leading to Liz's bedroom. Once inside they all greeted eachother, and hugged. But within minutes, Max insisted that he needed to talk to Liz alone. The others reluctantly agreed, heading downstairs. Max closed and locked the door.
" Liz. I am scared."
" Max, we made it."
" No I am scared for you. That who I am is going to hurt you."
" Max."
" No Liz. I won't let it happen.
" What are you saying Max?"
" I love you, I just want us to be apart for awhile."
Liz stood up, in tears. " I wish I could have stopped you from saving my life in..the Crashdown.
" Liz, dont say that. I dont want to hurt you."
" You just did."
Liz immediately got up and walked to her door, unlocking it and quickly leaving. She ran down the stairs and into the front of the Crashdown. The others noticed Liz leaving in tears. Maria tried to stop her, but Liz pushed her away. " Liz?"
Liz turned and looked to everyone. " Goodbye." as Max came running downstairs( him hearing what she said.) his eyes pained with tears. " Liz! "
Rath and Lonnie sat on their orange and green plaided couch. Complaining how their plan was going the way they wanted. “ Lonnie. Liz and Max escaped the FBI.”
“ Don’t you think I know that. Don’t be such a dumbass.”
“ So now what are we going to do? Huh?”
“ The Special Unit isn’t just going to stop looking. They will continue until they have Max, but until then we need to take matters into our own hands. We don’t have time to wait for Max to be caught by the special unit.”
“ So you’re saying that we are going to go kill em.”
“ No, capture and torture. Max Evans will tell me where the Granilith is. I’m sure of it.”
“ Wait what about Zan?”
“ Zan sham. He isn’t worth the trouble, but if he gets involved then yes we will kill him.”
Liz and Max stood on the corner street by the Crashdown.
“ Liz. My intentions weren’t to hurt you.”
“ I know that Max, but you can’t keep doing this”
“ What?”
“ Putting everything on yourself. I know you care for so many people, but Max it isn’t your job to protect them all. You have to take care of yourself first. Have some faith in the people around you.”
“ I do. I mean you’re right. Liz I have all the faith in world concerning you and us. I love you Liz.”
“ I love you too Max.” Max brought Liz closer to him.
“ Come here.” Liz smiled, as her and Max embraced in a long, sweet kiss.” Max moved his hands up and down Liz’s back. When he suddenly heard her whimper with pain. “ Ahh.”
“ Liz! What’s wrong? Did I hurt you?”
“ No Max. Um..it’s nothing.” Max frowned and then raised an eyebrow. “ Nothing my ....” He started to turn Liz around to examine her back.
“ Max. I am fine.”
“ No Liz you’re not. Hold still so I can see.” Liz didn’t bother with arguing with him. She knew she wouldn’t win. Max lifted the back of her shirt, revealing slash marks. “ Liz! Who did this to you!”
“ It was when the Special Unit agents grabbed me, earlier.”
“ They did this!?!”
“ Max, don’t worry. It heal.”
“ Damn straight it will. Turn back around.”
“ Huh?”
“ I’m going to heal them.”
“ Max thats not nessecary.”
“ Yes it is.”
“ Max.”
“ Liz I didn’t give you an option.” Max then placed his hand over her wounds. His heart broke at the sight of her wincing in pain.
“ Thank you.” Max wrapped his arms around her.
“ Liz I just don’t want to lose you.” Liz pulled away from Max and then cupped his face in her hands.
“Max, no matter what happens I will never truly leave you. For I will always be here.” Liz touched Max’s heart. “ Here in your heart, and you will be in mine.” Max brought back for another hug.
“ I love you.”
Max and Liz were interrupted by the sound of familiar voices. Everyone stood in front of Liz and Max. Max still holding Liz asked in a commanding tone, “ What’s going on?” Zan stepped forward.
“ We need to leave Roswell.”
“ Why.”
“ Rath and Lonnie are coming. You all are in danger.” Max held tightly onto Liz, as he looked to Zan. " What do you mean were in danger and we can't just pick up and leave Roswell."
" If you care about your life then we have to leave. Rath and Lonnie are set out to hurt you and anyone associated with you. They are extremely dangerous and can't be trusted."
Max took a deep breath. " So where do we go?" " You are the leader." Max sarcastically laughed.
" I am so sick of hearing that." Zan laughed with him and patted him on the back. " I bet." Michael rolled his eyes and then pushed through Max and Zan.
" Hey lets save this nice bonding moment for later. We have to get the hell out of here and if you haven't forgotten. The Special Unit is still looking for us."
Maria put her hand on Michael's shoulder for support. Max kissed Liz's forehead and then faced his eager friends. " Okay. Maria I want you, Michael, Zan, and Tess to go prepare to leave. Isabel, Liz, and I will do the same. I want to meet behind the Crashdown in less than thirty min." They all nodded in agreement. Liz, Isabel, and Max hopped into the Jeep.
Max turned to and brought his hand to Liz's cheek. " Liz. I don't want to take you from your family, and I understand if.." Liz responded, interrupting Max.
" You have my heart. I couldn't very well live without it." Max leaned over and gave her a quick kiss, before taking off.
Isabel just rolled her eyes. " Get a room, you two. No wait I take it back. " They all laughed, heading to the Evan's house.
FIFTEEN MINUTES--
Michael, Maria, Tess, and Zan finished quickly and headed to the Crashdown. Maria parked the Jetta, and they all hopped out, waiting for Max, Liz, and Isabel. Maria began pacing. " Oh so much has been happening. I need some cedar oil." Michael smiled and hugged her. " We will be okay. I promise." Tess watched Michael and Maria in jealousy. No matter how hard she tried to deny it. She had deep feelings for Max. Tess wished her and Max could be like that. As if Zan were reading her thoughts, he commented. " Oh get over it. It won't ever happen." Zan winked at her. Tess gave him a nastly look , and was about to respond, but was distracted by the sound of Max's Jeep approaching. Max nodded to Isabel's comment and then turned back to Liz. Sighing, Max pulled over into the hotel parking lot. He checked his rearview mirror to make sure that Maria was still following them. He then parked the Jeep.
Maria parked next to him, and then looked over at Michael. " Finally some sleep. Even if the name of this hotel is the love shack." Michael winked at her. Tess noticed this and rolled her eyes. " Can you guys cut it out. " Michael sighed and then looked back at her. " Tess, shutup. I don't care who or what you are. Just shutup." Maria laughed and so did Zan. Zan patted Michael's shoulder. " Thank you." Michael nodded and then they all jumped out of the car.
Max waited for Isabel to get out of the Jeep, because he wanted to talk to Liz alone. Once Isabel left, Max scooted over next to Liz and then feeling her forehead. She was burning up. Max stepped out and then walked over to the passenger's side. As he was walking around, Michael grabbed his shoulder. " Maxwell what's going on?"
" I don't know. I think Liz is sick. Listen I want you to go in their with the others and get three rooms."
" Why three?"
" One for me and Liz, you and Maria, and Zan, Isabel and Tess can share one."
" Hey works for me."
" Okay I'll be right in." Michael nodded and then gathered the others, leading them into the hotel.
Max opened the passenger door, unbuckling Liz, and lifting her into his arms. Liz moaned. "Shh. Just go back to sleep." Max kissed her forehead, and then shut the Jeep door with his foot.
Micahel dealt with the hotel manager, getting them their rooms and keys. " Okay here guys." Isabel frowned. " Michael why am I with Tess and Zan?"
" Umm.." Michael pulled Isabel to the side. " Max doesn't totally trust Zan, and Zan doesnt want to be alone with Tess."
" Oh great so Im like the referee."
" Yeah basically."
Maria yawned. " Oh please lets get in our rooms...wait where are Liz and Max?" Just then Max came through the doors, holding carrying Liz.
Maria gasped. " Oh my God! Max what's wrong with her."
" Shh.." Max brought his voice to a whisper. " I don't know."
Michael noticed Zan flinch. " What's wrong Zan? You look a litte..guilty?"
Zan clenched his fists. " Oh shutup. Iam not guilty of nutin." He then stormed off to his hotel room. Michael eyed Zan as he walked away. " Maxwell he is up to something."
" Michael I don't want to jump to any conclusions about him."
" Fine." Michael turned to Isabel. " Can you see what he is thinking?" Isabel's eyes widened.
" Well. I could try, but because he is awake, it might be harder."
Max intervened. " Listen guys if you come up with anything important then let me know. I have to get Liz down. I don't want her to wake up." Everyone nodded, as Max carried Liz to their room.
Max laughed. He didn't even need the hotel key. Unlocking the door, Max laid Liz down on the bed. " You're going to be okay now."
Michael and Maria had Tess go to Zan, and Isabel with them. Michael sat down beside Isabel. " Okay here's the deal. Tess is going to start pounding him questions. While she is doing that I want you to see his answers."
" Okay. Wish me luck."
Tess knocked on Zan's door. " Hey can I come in? "
" Go away, you homewrecker." Tess rolled her eyes and then entered his room. Zan was lying on the bed with his hands behind his head. " Listen. We all know that something is wrong with you."
" I said nothing is wrong."
" Zan. Why is Liz getting sick?"
" Look it's not my fault." Just then Zan stood up, preparing to kick Tess out, but a sharp pain hit him and he fell to the floor unconscious.
Isabel had made it in. Images of Liz swarmed her view. Zan was talking, no begging to someone. Asking them not to do something to Liz....
Zan groaned and then attempted to stand up. Tess gasped. " What happened. " It's Rath and Lonnie. Their doing it all."
Isabel jumped up. " Oh my God." Michael and Maria ran to Isabel's side. Maria was the first to speak. " What's wrong? What did you see?
" Get Max. Now!" Michael ran out of the room and headed towards Max and Liz's room. Once there, Michael began pounding on the door. " Hey Maxwell. Get your ass out here!"
Max opened the door. "Michael. What is it?"
" Come on."
" Wait Im not leaving Liz alone. Tell them.." Before Max could finish the others were already standing behind Michael. Max opened the door, wider so that they could all come in. As soon as Liz was in view they all noticed how sickly she looked. Max held his tears back and then turned to Isabel. " Okay whats going on?" Isabel sat down and began to speak.
" Okay. We thought Zan had something to do with why Liz was sick and we were right. I walked through his mind and he was begging someone. I believe it was Lonnie. He was begging her not to make Liz anymore sicker. What I am saying is that whenever Rath, and Lonnie are taking energy from Liz." Max yelled. " What?! How can they do that?"
" I don't know. Lonnie started it, but I don't know how."
" So how can we get them to stop?"
" They have to be...killed." Michael intervened. " Wait. What does Zan have to do with it?" " Rath and Lonnie needed a lock from Liz's hair, in order to make her a victim. Zan gave it to them."
" Willingly?"
" No he was under mind control. He feels guilty."
Max began shaking. He was hurt, and angry. " THEY HAVE TO STOP HURTING HER!" Max then knelt beside Liz. She was burning up. He could hear her softly moaning. Max turned to face Michael, Maria , and Isabel. " Their is only one way to make them stop." Michael looked at Max with confusion. " Whats that Maxwell?"
" Give them what they want?"
" and that is?"
" Iam turning myself in to them." Michael, Maria, and Isabel stood in shock. Trying to comprehend what Max had said.
Michael swore under his breath and then faced Max. “ Maxwell you are being ridiculous. I’m not going to let you do this. God Maximillion. Be smarter than that.” Max stood up, confronting Micahel.
“ It’s not your choice to make Michael.”
“ I don’t care.”
“ I won’t let Liz die!” Michael was about to speak, but didn’t when he heard Liz moan. Max immediantly rushed to Liz’s side and touched her forehead. “ God she is burning up.”
Maria began crying and Michael wrapped his arms around her. Max turned to them. “ Michael, go get some juice from the vending machine. Maria go get some wet towels, and Isabel can you go get some extra blankets.” Everyone nodded without arguing, leaving Max alone with Liz. “ Liz. Can you hear me?”
Liz weakily opened her eyes. “ Max.”
“ Shh..it will be okay. I won’t let anything happen to you.”
“ Max..what’s happening to me.”
“ Liz, I don’t know.”
“ Max I feel so dizzy. I just..I love you...” Liz began to shut her eyes. Max lifted her to him.
“ No, no Liz please you must stay awake. Liz!!!” Max’s yells turned into loud cries.
“ Liz, Liz!” Max gently shook her, but there was no answer.
Michael, Isabel, and Maria ran into the room. Each of them gasping. Maria began crying again, along with Isabel. Isabel, Maria, and Michael watched in horror, as Max held Liz, crying. Rocking her back and forth. Pleading her to wake up.
Michael put his hand on Max’s shoulder. “ Come on. Don’t do this to yourself Maxwell.” Max shoved Michael away and then laid Liz on the bed. He then stood up. Michael tried to block him, but it was no use. “ Back off.” Max then shoved Michael down, and while Isabel and Maria helped him up, Max rushed out the door.
Tess couldn’t believe what was happening to Zan. She was about to help him up, when their was a loud pound on the door.
“ Open the damn door!!” Tess gasped, knowing that it was Max. She had never imagined him so angry. Zan stood up and opened the door.
“ What the hell..” Before Zan could finish, Max punched him, square in the nose. Zan fell to the floor Max then picked him up by his coat shoulders and shoved him up against the wall.
“ You bastard. I should kill you now!” Max shoved him harder.
“ Hey, I didn’t know. I didn’t have any control.”
“ Well right now neither do I.” Zan gulped.
“ Iam sorry.”
“ You’re sorry! You’re sorry!? Because of you Liz is ...” Max was about to finish, but he fell to the floor, sobbing like a little boy.
Michael, Maria, and Isabel, came into Zan’s room. Michael was about to lunge at Zan, but Maria, and Isabel stopped him. Max stood up. “ Where the f*** are they?” Zan sighed.
“ I don’t know, but I do know that they are near.”
“ I want you to leave. Don’t come back until you find them, and if you dare run out on us. I will live everyday off my life hunting you. Until you’re dead."
Zan nodded and then left the room. Max waited until Zan left. "Liz." That was all he could think about. His one true love...gone. Max brushed pass the others, heading towards his room, to be with Liz. While walking, he felt someone grab his arm. It was Isabel." Max.When you and Liz became an official couple..I mean I just hope you don't think that it will work out."
" What?"
" Whether you want to admit or not. We aren't human. You can't keep seeing it that way. You have a destiny and its.."
" Liz."
" Max."
" No Isabel. I have chosen my destiny. It's Liz. Without her..I am nothing."
" Max what if she doesn't make it..I mean she is already.." Max stopped Isabel. He waited for Michael, and Tess to get in hearing. Max centered himself around them." Listen. If I am not with Liz. Then I am not going to be with anyone."
" So what if she.."
" then I die too." and with that Max walked into his hotel room, sealing the door with his powers.
Max slowly walked over to the bed Liz was lying on.She looked beautiful. Even sick her beauty didn't compare. He laid down next to her, caressing her cheek.
" Why couldn't I protect you! Why! You needed me,and I let you down!" Max began sobbing harder. " Damn it! Liz you can't leave me. I love you." Max wrapped his arms around her. " I will lay with you..forever."
Zan walked out of the hotel and into the parking lot. Suddenly he felt his mind give away. He was losing control. " Oh no!" Zan collapsed to the ground. Rath and Lonnie were controlling his mind. He heard steps approach him. " Hey Zan. How ya been?" Zan looked up to see Lonnie and Rath standing in front of him. Zan mentally screamed. He could make a connection with Isabel. He shut his eyes and tried to focus. " Isabel! Their here!"
Isabel shot up. " Oh my God." Tess immediantly looked up." What's wrong?"
" Rath and Lonnie are in the parking lot." Max, Michael, Tess, and Isabel ran out into the parking lot, to find Zan down on his knees. Max yelled to Rath and Lonnie from across the parking lot. " Rath. Lonnie. Iam the one you are looking for." Rath looked surprised as he hit Lonnie. " Look Lonnie it's Max."
" So it is." Lonnie walked closer to Max. " So how's Liz?"
Max began to lunge at her, but Michael held him back. " Wait Maxwell." Max relunctantly agreed and then faced Lonnie again. " I want you to cure Liz."
" I can't."
" Why the hell not?"
" Max. Max. Max. She is already dead."
" NO! She isn't."
" Whatever."
" Cure her now!"
" and if I do, what do I get out of it?"
" What do you want?"
" You. Dead."
" Okay. Just don't hurt Liz." Isabel and the others gasped. Isabel and Michael began to pull Max back , but Max retracted by putting up a power shield to hold them back. Isabel and Tess began crying. Michael began yelling.
" Damn it Maxwell. Don't be a fool."
" I can't help it. Iam in love." Max gave a look of goodbye and turned to Lonnie.
" You got me. Now come and get me." Rath and Lonnie began laughing. As they headed towards Max, they kicked Zan down. Zan grunted. Max gulped and knew that this was for the best. Liz had to be okay.
Maria sat next to Liz in pure panic. " Oh my God Liz. I can't believe this is happening to you." Maria sighed with fear as she noticed that Liz began shaking. " What Liz! What's happeining?"
Max gasped when he realized he wasn't in the parking lot anymore, but his hotel room with Maria and Liz. Max looked shocked. He noticed Rath and Lonnie were there also. Lonnie put her hand on Maria. Maria then clumped to the floor. Max ran over to Maria.
" Hey. Leave her alone." He looked up and noticed that Liz was shaking. " What are you doing to her?" Lonnie only laughed.
" Say goodbye Max. Say goodbye."
Michael, Isabel, Tess, and Zan scanned the area, trying to figure out where Max had gone. Isabel grabbed Michael's arm. " Maybe they went back to Max's room."
" Hey it's worth a shot. Lets go."
Max attempted to run to Liz's side, but he couldn't move. He grunted. " Let me out!" Lonnie and Rath only laughed. His only chance was Michael, Isabel, Zan, and Tess. Max kept his eyes on Liz. She was still shaking. " No! Stop hurting her!" Rath rolled his eyes.
" Don't worry there Maxie. I'll take good care of her." Max noticed that Rath was moving closer to her.
" Stay away from her! Don't touch her!"
" Picky, picky."
Michael and the others noticed a red light showing through the bottom of Max's hotel room. " There they are."
Lonnie walked up to Max, and cupped his face in her hands. " What's wrong brother?" Max groaned. " Don't call me that. Iam not your brother. Never would I be involved with something this evil." " That wasn't very nice." Lonnie's hand began glowing a dark red. She then touched Max's shoulder. Max yelled in pain, as he slowly fell to the floor.
Michael, Isabel, Tess, and Zan came running in, to see Max fall. Isabel and Michael yelled Max's name. Rath turned around to see the four of them entering the room. " Hey Lonnie. We's got visitors." Lonnie turned to face th four of them. " Oh how nice of you to join us. Please sit down!" Lonnie then shot at them with her hand, and a red beam shot out, knocking them all to the floor. She then turned back to Max. " Okay Max. You have a choice. Tell me where the Granilith is and I will let your friends live." Max hesitantly looked up, to see Michael, Isabel, and Tess shaking their heads no, but when Max turned to see Liz...he couldn't let her die. She had already been through enough. " I can't..choose." " Okay fine. If that's the way you want it. Say goodbye Max." Lonnie shot at Liz, making her whole body come to a lifeless stop.
Max yelled and screamed. " NO! NO! NO! LIZ!" Lonnie only laughed. " This is what you wanted Max. It's your fault." Max felt the anger rise up in him. " NO!" Max stood up, breaking the lock that Lonnie had on him. " NO! We are stronger than you!" Max then took a step back, holding his hand out. Within minutes a green power shot out of his hand. Aiming it at Rath and Lonnie.
Michael, Isabel, and Tess then too, broke through Lonnie's lock, aiming their powers at Rath and Lonnie. Zan couldn't believe what he was seeing. Wait did he have powers? Zan outstretched his arm and focused on Rath and Lonnie dying. Before he knew it a orange power shot out. With all their powers combined Rath and Lonnie, fell to the ground, slowly disappearing.
Isabel, Tess, and Zan joined in on a group hug. While Michael began taking steps toward Max, but was stopped when he saw Maria lying on the floor. " Shit." Michael knelt down and held Maria in his arms. " Hey baby. Come on wake up." Maria began to stir. She opened her eyes to see Michael staring at her. " Hey spaceboy. It's about time." They then kissed.
Max walked over to Liz. " What have I done to you?" The others saw Max and their heart cried for him. Zan spoke first. " Maybe we can heal her, I mean together." Everyone nodded, and gathered around Liz. They each reached out and touched Liz. Within seconds a light began shining around Liz. Max couldn't stop his tears. He was so worried that he wouldn't ever see her again.
Liz's eyes slowly opened. The one person that she loved and adored was standing next to her. " Max."
The voice sang to Max's heart as he opened his eyes to see Liz smilling at him. Max immediantly jumped into her arms, hugging and then kissing her. The others stepped back smiling. Liz sat up, not remembering what had happened. " Max."
" No..shh..don't worry now. Everything is over. No more Rath and Lonnie. It's just us." Liz smiled and then kissed Max.
" Lets go home."
Everyone immediantly laughed. Max helped Liz up, and then had her lean on his shoulder as they began to leave the room.
Isabel stopped when she noticed that Zan wasn't moving. "Zan?" Everyone stopped and looked at Zan. He then sat down on the bed.
" I don't belong with you guys." No one knew what to say.
Isabel walked over and knelt beside Zan. " Yes you do." Zan smiled and took Isabel's hand.
While walking out to the Jeep, Max stopped and turned to Liz. " Liz I thought that I had lost you..." Liz placed a finger on his lips. " Max you'll never lose me." She then placed her hand over his heart. Max smiled, as a single tear, ran down his cheek. " Thank you Liz Parker."
" For what?"
" For loving me." Liz smiled and then lightly kissed Max.
" No thank you." They both held eachother as they walked to the Jeep.
From a distance a man on a phone, was talking. " Yeah they just left. Max Evans and the Parker girl....don't worry Agent. They won't get away....
