3 YEARS LATER (FROM THE DAY MAX AND THE OTHERS LEFT ROSWELL.) Liz, now 21 yrs., was sitting in her bedroom, writing down notes for her advanced Biology class. She lived in Denver, Colorado. In an apartment with Maria. Alex lived two rooms down the hall with his band buddies. Liz was working part time as an apprentice in Molecular Biology, while also attending college classes at DUOC. Maria was also attending the same college, but during her freetime she was pursuing a singing career. Liz wasn't dating anyone, even though she had recieved many offers, but no matter how hard she tried. She couldn't see herself with anyone, but Max. Yes her heart still belonged to him. A small part of her hoped that Max would one day come walking through her door and confess his love for her. Liz's thoughts were interrupted, by the opening of her bedroom door. Liz turned to see an overly excited Maria. " Liz guess what?" " What?" " We have dates!" " We?" " Well, I met this hot guy named Mark. You see..he asked me out tonight. He also said that he had a friend named Ben. So I told him that I also had a single friend...." " Maria. NO!" " Liz it's Friday night. You can't spend it in your room!" " Maria Iam not going." Maria sat down next to Liz, and then facing her. " Liz...Max isn't coming back. You can't live your life like this..." Liz held her tears back and sighed. " Where and what time?" Maria giggled and then hugged Liz. " They will be here in an hour. We are going to that new dance club, the Jutebox." " Okay. So what are you wearing?" " Oh this little black number.." Liz laughed. " Maria. I don't know what to..." Maria screamed with excitement and ran to Liz's closet. Pullling out a short, spaghetti strapped, red dress. " This!" Liz stood up, smiling and then grabbed the dress. " What are we waiting for?" AN HOUR LATER- Maria stepped out of her bedroom, wearing her black dress, to find Liz ready and sitting on their couch. Liz was wearing her red dress, with her hair down, dangling in her face. " Hey Liz! Girl, you look good!" " Thanks Maria, you too." Maria knew that Liz was thinking about Max. She was about to speak, when they heard a knock at their door. Liz stood up as Maria opened the door. The first guy walked in. He was good looking, with long black hair, tied up in a pony tail. Maria quickly pointed him to Liz. " Mark this is Liz. Liz this is Mark." " Hey Mark." " Hey Liz." " Nice to meet you." " You too." Less than a second later, another guy strolled in. He was blonde with blue eyes. Liz had to admit that he was handsome, but he wasn't Max. Mark nodded in Liz's direction. " Hey Liz, this is Ben." Ben took one look at Liz, and almost fainted. " Wow. You look great!" Liz blushed. " Um..thank you.", and with that the four of them left, heading out to the dance club. AT THE CLUB- As soon as they arrived at the club, Maria and Mark, headed off to the dance floor. Ben reached for Liz's hand, leading her to a table nearby. " Hey Liz. I thought we could talk." " Um..yeah that would be great." " So. Tell me why is a beautiful woman, like yourself, without a boyfriend?" Liz didn't know how to answer. Oh he was alien, and that she had to decieve him so that Earth wouldn't be destroyed? She didn't want to think about Max. It was time for her to move on with her life. " Hey, you know what. Why don't we talk later. Ben, dance with me?" " Sure!" Ben excitedly stood up, wrapping his arms around Liz's waist and leading her to the dance floor. Liz moved and twisted with Ben to the music. Ben began pressing up against her. She knew what he wanted, and she didn't want to go there. At least not tonight. Liz kissed him on the cheek, and whispered into his ear, " I will be right back." Ben nodded and relunctantly let go of her. Liz sighed as she briskly walked to the ladies room. What was wrong with her? A perfectly wonderful man was showing affection towards her, and what does she do? Go to the restroom. Liz sighed in disgust as she entered the ladies room. Only to find herself gasping with shock. Liz stood in the doorway of the ladies room, unable to say or do anything, but stare. Standing in front of her was Tess, and Isabel. She hadn't seen these people in three years. Isabel and Tess gasped. Isabel regained her composure and then attempted to ease the already awkward situation. " Liz." Liz wanted to speak to Isabel about where she and the others had been. About Max, but she couldn't. The tears began falling down her cheek. Isabel began walking towards Liz, but before Tess or Isabel could say anything else. Liz had already darted out of the restroom, in search of Maria. She pushed through the crowds of people, screaming out Maria' s name. "Maria! Maria!" Liz was now in a panic. She couldn't think let alone breath. Her whole body was shaking out of her control, and the tears wouldn't stop. Isabel and Tess were also panicing. What were they to do now? Quickly they ran out of the restroom, looking for Michael or Max. Liz felt someone touch her shoulder. She whipped around to see Ben, staring at her in confusion. " Liz are you alright? Oh my God you're shaking!" " No. Iam fine. Where is Maria?" " I think her and Mark are over at the bar." Liz nodded and then ran off in the direction of the bar. Isabel and Tess finally found Max and Michael at the bar. Isabel was the first to speak. " Max, Michael. We have an emergency!" Michael scratched his head, and was about to speak, when him and the others heard Maria's name being called out, by someone who was coming in their direction. Liz had finally reached the bar. She looked to her right to see Maria, sitting down with Mark. " Hey Maria!" " Hey Liz. What's wrong?" " We have to leave now!" " What?" " Please!" Liz was now in complete tears. Max and the others turned to their left to see Liz and Maria. Max stood up, in complete shock. Suddenly he remembered leaving Liz, and how he felt about it. That she had slept with Kyle, and that was it. Then when him and the others were on the road, finding a note in his bag. It was from Liz. Telling him the truth. Max had hated that day. For he had left Liz, not knowing that they could be together. Liz sighed, waiting for Maria's answer. She looked to her right to see the four people that had left her, and the one that had haunted her heart for all of these years. Max Evans. Maria noticed that Liz was ignoring her, and staring off to her right. Maria too, looked over to see them. To see Michael. " Oh my God Liz. You're right lets go." Max whimpered when he realized that Liz was walking away from him. " Wait Liz." Max yelled. Liz heard him cry her name. She turned around halfway, so that her and Max's eyes met. Her and Max stood speechless. Realizing that she had to leave, Liz began walking away. Max began to go after her, but Michael, and Tess grabbed his arm. " No Maxwell." " No. I won't let her walk away." Max shoved Michael and Tess off him and ran after Liz. His soulmate. Liz couldn't believe what she saw Max do. She had to find out what was going on. Liz grabbed her things out of the Jetta, and ran after Max. Isabel saw this. She wasn't going to let Liz face Max alone. Isabel ran away from Michael and Maria, and after Liz. Liz ran through the doors, to see Max not to far ahead of her. It was obvious that he was pushing his way through the hall. Liz was about to yell after him, but was caught off guard by someone grabbing her shoulder. Liz turned to see Isabel. " Liz, wait I want to come with you." Liz nodded. " Okay, come on, We have to hurry." Isabel and Liz ran through the hallways looking for Max. After ten minutes, Liz spotted Max at his locker. " There he is Isabel." The both of them ran up behind him. Isabel said his name first. " Max." Max rolled his eyes. " Listen Isabel. Iam not in the mood to deal with your crap." " Max, we have to talk." " Get away from me, before I have to make you." " Max, please. " Max clenched his jaw, and then preparing to hit Isabel across the face. Liz noticed this, and then stepped out from behind Isabel. Max immediantly stopped, when he saw that he was about to hit Liz. Isabel was shocked. Max wouldn't hit Liz. Liz touched Max's face. " Please. I know this isn't you." Max gently grabbed Liz's hand. " Stay away from me. I could never hurt you." Max moved away from Liz, and then shoved his way by Isabel. Liz stood there, and watched him leave. Maria fought and hit Michael, telling him to let her go, but it was no use. Michael’s grip was tough to loosen. So instead of fighting him she went along with it. Michael led her a room, behind the bar. “ Michael we can’t just walk back here.” “ Don’t worry I know the bartender.” Michael locked the door,and then turned around, facing Maria. “ You have a lot of explaining to do. Start talking.” Michael rolled his eyes, and then cupped Maria’s face in his hands, kissing her passionately. Liz sat in the passenger’s seat of Max’s Jeep. She had tried a number of times to open the door, but it wasn’t worth the effort. He had sealed it shut with his powers. There was no way she could compete. Sighing in disbelief, Liz turned and glanced at Max. He was so focused on driving that he didn’t realize that she was staring at him. Liz examined him. His face held so much pain. What had he been doing all of these years? His hair was longer on the top, and he had a little stubble on his face. She knew that Max was built well before, but now he seemed to be pure muscle. There was one thing about him. That hadn’t changed, and that was his eyes. They were so soulful, and deep. Max felt Liz’s eyes on him. What was she thinking? He shifted in his seat, so that he was more able to look at her. Liz turned, and peered out the Jeep window. She didn’t want Max to know that she was staring. Max now found himself, glancing at her. She was even more beautiful. Her hair still had that black silky glow, and he loved it how her hair bounced into curls at the ends. Her lips were still sweet, and pouty. He loved that. Max also noticed that she had tanned in the face and arms. She was very well defined. Max could feel his passion and love for her, just by thinking about her. It was overwhelming at times. The little red dress she was wearing... God he missed her. Liz couldn’t stand the silence. Besides she wanted out. Max Evans and the hurt he left behind, had haunted her. She had just about moved on with her life and then he had to pop out of no where, causing her to feel the love, and pain all over again. “ Max. Let me out.” “ Not a chance Parker.” Liz sighed. Damn it he was so stubborn. Max rolled his eyes. She was so damn stubborn, he thought. After 45min. of driving Max had finally pulled the Jeep over, to the side of the road. Liz felt a wave of relief. He had stopped the car. Maybe she could get away now. Liz scanned the area. Where the hell were they? She couldn’t see anything, but plains. They were out in the middle of nowhere. Max unbuckled his seatbelt, and then shifted in his seat, so that he was facing Liz. He reached his hand out and touched her arm. Liz quickly pushed his hand away. “ Don’t.” Max noticed the tears, forming in her eyes. He hated to see her cry. Max would rather be stabbed or killed than to see Liz cry. “ Liz, please don’t cry.” His voice cracking, with sadness. “ Max. Please take me back to the club.” “ Not until we have talked.” “ There is nothing to talk about.” Max moved closer to Liz. “ Yes there is. Isabel, Michael,Tess,and I had no choice, but to leave Roswell.” “ Max, I ...” Max touched his finger to her lips “ Shhhh...just listen.” Liz sighed, as more tears fell down her face. She nodded, giving Max permission to continue. Max bit his lip, and then continued. " Do you remember when Isabel, Brody, you, and I were experimenting with using Brody's body. To contact our home planet?" " Yes." " Remember the living parasites we found?" " Yeah." " Liz they were dangerous to humans. So we collected the remaining particles from Poleman Ranch. Once we had them all we fled Roswell, taking the parasites with us." " Where did you put them?" " We went to an abandoned barn, and with the four of us, using our powers we destroyed the parasites." " Why couldn't you have told us the truth? We would have understood. I would have understood." " Liz. I didn't want you and the others getting involved. The less you knew the better." " What happened to Alex, Maria, and I being a group. I thought we were in this together?" " We are. It's just that we didn't ...." Liz rolled her eyes, and then finished Max's sentence. " need us?" Max sighed. " It's more complicated then that, but now things are different." " They are?" " We can be together now. We belong together Liz. You're my destiny. I know that you didn't sleep with Kyle. I never thought you could do that to me. To us." Max began touching Liz's hair, while looking into her eyes. " Max. You left me. You left for three years. I have spent those years alone, and scared. Not knowing if you were still alive. Not knowing if I would ever see or touch you again." " Liz Iam here now." " For how long?" " What?" " What happens if tomorrow, or maybe next week. You have to leave. Leave me." " No Liz. That could never happen." " It already did Max." Liz turned away from Max. " Max, you belong with Tess. Without her, people die. Earth is destroyed. You told me that Max." Max began to speak, as a single tear slid down his cheek, " Liz. When I was away from you. I went crazy. I mean, without you...I felt like I was disappearing, but when I saw you tonight. My heart melted, and I was brought back to life." " Max. Don't do this to me. When Iam with you. I feel like us..being together could work, but Max it can't. I can't compete with your destiny. Please...let me go." Max was shocked. Liz's words hit him, like a stab in the heart. Liz grabbed the handle on the Jeep door, and it moved. Max was losing senses, so his mental lock on the door was loosening. Before leaving the Jeep, Liz turned around, " Goodbye Max." Quickly Liz left the vehicle, before Max was able to stop her. For she knew that if she were to stay...that her heart would give in. Max wiped his tears. " Liz?" He said in the innocence of a little boy. He immediantly started the Jeep, and whipped it around. He wasn't going to let Liz go. Max drove up beside Liz, as she walked along the side of the road. " Liz, please get in the car." Liz didn't answer. Instead she began running. Max clenched his jaw. He couldn't believe that Liz was running from him. Max pressed on the gas pedal, catching up to Liz. Liz could hear Max's Jeep, speeding up. No Max. Just let go. Liz thought to herself. Max was beside her again. " Liz! Get in the Jeep!" He sighed in frustration, when Liz didn't answer him. Max pulled the Jeep over, jumped out, and then began running after Liz. Liz continued running, but was stopped. Max had caught up with her, and then brought his arms around her waist, pulling her to him. Everything was happening so fast, that Liz didn't have a chance to react. Max swiftly turned her around, and kissed her. Max's lips covered Liz's mouth, forcefully and with intense passion. He had longed to touch and kiss her. Her soft pouty lips pressed against his... Liz felt her body tense, as Max was kissing her, but before she could faithfully listen to her heart. Her mind interferred. Liz pulled away from Max. " No Max. This can't be. Not now. Not ever." Max felt his tears giving away. Liz had rejected him again. Max grabbed Liz's arm. " At least let me take you home." Silently they both walked back to the Jeep. Neither one of were able to say anything. Silence ruled throughout the ride home. Max parked the Jeep, in Liz's apartment parking lot. Liz took a deep breath and then quickly glanced at Max. " Um..thank you for the ride home." Max wasn't able to say anything, but stare. Liz nodded and then stepped out, and then began walking up the stairs, leading to her and Maria's apartment. Max peered out the Jeep window, watching Liz walk to her apartment door. Max you idiot. Do something. Max jumped out of the Jeep, and ran up to Liz's door. Liz was turning the door knob, as Max called to her. " Liz. Wait." Liz bit her lip and then faced him. " Yeah?" " Do you remember, that night at the Crashdown. Um..the night that I told you that Tess and I weren't together. That I wouldn't forget about you?" Liz didn't say anything, but stare into Max's eys. He stepped closer to her and then spoke. " You think Iam going to forget about you or something, but I'm not....... just know this...Iam coming for you Liz." When finished Max gave Liz one more look and then walked back to his Jeep. Liz took a deep breath, and watched Max leave. Liz still breathless, unlocked and opened her apartment door. She sighed, as she turned the lights on. " Maria? Are you here?" Liz raised an eyebrow and frowned when there wasn't an answer. " Maria. I know you're here. I saw your Jetta parked outside." Liz rolled her eyes and opened Maria's bedroom door. " Maria listen. I need to talk to you about M.." Liz's eyes widen, as she let out a scream. Maria and Michael gasped in surprise. They were wrapped in eachother's arms. Liz closed her eyes and backed out of the room. " Um sorry guys. Im just going to go to bed. Goodnight." Liz ran into her room, shutting and locking the door. She fell onto her bed, in tears. Yeah Maria and Michael can be together. Their love doesn't destroy the world. Isabel glared at Michael. " You're not helping at all!" Before Michael could respond, Alex spoke. " Yeah well, he seems to be the only one seeing clearly." Isabel brought her voice down to a kind and calm whisper. " Alex, this doesn't concern you." Alex rolled his eyes. " You would say that. All of you." Alex eyed Max, Tess, and Isabel. " You leave us for three years. Three God damn years. Yes Isabel you made it quite clear that what goes on with you and your Czechosvlakian life, doesn't concern or involve, myself, Maria or Liz." Max groaned and then began walking out of the Cafe, but Maria stopped him. " I want you to leave Liz alone." " I need to speak with her." Alex stepped in front of Max. " You want to talk to her? Well forget it. I think that you have done enough talking for one lifetime." " Alex.." " No Max. Just leave her alone. Go hang out with Tess." Max was enraged with what Alex said. He brought his voice to a holler. " Listen Alex! She is the one who pushed me away." " Pushed you away? Yeah for the sake of you and your entire existence! She sacrificed her happiness, her life, for you." " I know." " Yeah well know this. If I ever see you near her again. I swear Max." Alex turned and began to leave. When Isabel called his name. " Alex, wait." Alex sighed. " Isabel. Don't play nice with me. I too, did everything for you. I thought I loved you, and maybe I still do, but I woke up one day and realized that you're not the one for me. I am not going to serve you anymore. Don't think that you can't bat your eyelashes, and pout your lips. Expecting me to bow to you. I have feelings too." Alex then left to find Liz. Maria stood baffled. She couldn't believe how everything was falling apart. She turned so that she was facing, Isabel, Max, Tess, and Michael. " All I know is that the day Max saved Liz, was the beginning of something beautiful. It brought us all together. I don't know what or how it went wrong. Iam not going to blame anyone person. No matter what happens between everyone..I mean...Max, if you and Liz find eachother again or not, I am not going to change the way my heart feels. " Maria then turned to Michael. " My heart says that you are the one. Yes I was hurt too, when you picked up and left, but my hearts points to you, and I would be lying to myself if I went against it." She then turns to Max, Isabel, and Tess. " Please follow your heart. No matter the circumstances. Don't betray it. For if you do, then you are giving up on yourself." Maria sighed and then began walking out, but spoke to Michael before leaving. " Hey, I have to go, but I will see you later?" " You bet." Michael then leaned down and kissed her. " I love you Maria." " I love you." Maria then left to find Alex and Maria. Max didn't know what to say or do. He was so confused, hurt, and angry. Max paid the cashier who was obviously, along with the rest of the Cafe staff, interested in their conversation. Max apologized for the scene, and then turned. The cashier quickly responded. " She(referring to Liz) comes in here almost everyday to buy coffee. Liz is a wonderful person. You're a fool, for letting a sweet girl like that go." Max sadly nodded and then walked out with Isabel, Michael,and Tess following him. They all walked out to the Jeep, to see Liz, Alex, and Maria on the other side of the parking lot. As they walked closer to the Jeep, Max found himself continuing to glance over at Liz. Alex was holding her as she cried. Max hit the Jeep door, in pure frustration. " Damn it!" Michael quickly pulled Max away from the Jeep. " Maxwell calm down." Max looked up at Michael , with tears in his eyes. He didn't say anything, but jump into the Jeep. The others also stepped in and Max pulled out of the parking, at a high speed. Alex saw Max when he was staring, but chose not to tell Liz or Maria. Him not wanting to disturb them anymore. Maria put her hand on Liz's back. " Hey lets go home." Liz pulled away from Alex, and then nodded in agreement. The three of them were driving down the road, when Maria heard her cell phone ringing. She quickly answered it. " Hello." (other person.) " For how long?" (other person.) " Okay. Oh and I'm glad that you decided to follow your heart." (other person.) " Bye." (other person.) Alex scratched his head. " Who was that?" " Oh, um it was Michael." " Oh cool. What's up with him?" " Well there is a change in plans." Liz quickly turned to Maria. " What do you mean?" " He wants us run by his house. To pick some things up." Liz and Alex both eyed Maria. " Maria, could you please drop me off by the apartment." " Are you sure?" Yeah, you and Alex can go. I just want to be alone. Besides won't Max and the others be there?" Maria was surprised at the look Alex and Maria were giving him. " No. They are going to the store." Maria then switched lanes, heading to the apartment to drop Liz off. A smile lit Maria's face. Go Max. Maria thought. AT MAX, MICHAELS, TESS, AND ISABEL'S HOUSE- Max hung up the phone and grabbed his jacket. Walking into the living room he turned to Isabel, Tess, and Michael who were sitting on the couch. " Okay guys, I am heading out." Michael nodded. " Maxwell so Maria, and Alex are heading over here?" " Yeah." Isabel stood up. " Good. I need to speak with Alex." Tess sighed and then stood up, grabbing her jacket. " Well Max. I will just go with you." Max turned to Tess, hesitantly speaking," Um...no Tesss I need to go alone." " Where are you going anyway? What are you going to do?" " Something I should have done a long time ago." Max opened the door, but Tess stopped him, whispering in his ear. " You are going to see Liz aren' t you?" Max sighed, and motioned Tess to step outside with him. " Tess, throughout our time together, I honestly believe that we have gotten to be better friends, but you see that's all it can be. Is friends. I don't have any feelings for you like that. If you and I were to...anyway I would be lying to myself. To my heart. Please understand Tess. I am in love with Liz." Max gave Tess a hug, and then whispered in her ear, " Goodbye." Tess let go of Max, and he then jumped into his Jeep, and sped off. Maria pulled of to the side of the street. Liz turned to Maria. " Um Maria. Why are you stopping?" " I needed a brake." " A brake?" " Yeah..from driving." Max drove as fast as he could to Liz's apartment. He had told Maria to give him time to get there first. He glanced at his Jeep clock, it read 2:20P.M. He had until 2:25P.M. to arrive at Liz's apartment. Maria sighed. She glanced at the clock, it read 2:22P.M. She was focused on what time it was that she didn't hear Liz and Alex talking to her. " Hey Maria." Maria shook her head and then turned to Alex. " Sorry what." " Do you think we could leave now? No offense, but the side of the road scenery isn't something to get excited about." Once the clock read, 2:25P.M. Maria started the car. "You're right guys, sorry." Liz and Alex exchanged worried glances and then laughed. Max quickly pulled up behind a nearby building. He didn't want Liz seeing his Jeep. Max grabbed a bag, and then ran up to Liz and Maria's apartment door. Unlocking the door with his powers, he entered and hurried to work. FIVE MIN.LATER- Maria pulled up,by their apartment room, and let Liz out. Before Liz could walk to the door, Maria yelled out to her. " Hey Liz." " Yeah?" " Do something for Liz this time." Liz laughed and then nodded. " Thanks again, guys, I mean for being there for me." Alex and Maria smiled and then Liz walked to her apartment door. She unlocked it and then entered. She sighed as she flipped the lights on, and then threw her keys and purse on the kitchen counter. Liz raised an eyebrow when she saw a note, lying on the table. She picked it up and then opened it. It read: I sat there at the second table, in the Crashdown with Michael. I watched you and Maria wait on the other guests. A smile lit my face when I saw you, tease the tourists with a fake alien picture. Maria pulled you aside and the two of you giggled. Suddenly I saw you glance at me. Quickly I looked away, hoping that you hadn't noticed me staring. Before I knew it a shot rang out. I ducked under the table, as the shooters ran out. My heart screamed when I saw you lying on the floor. You had been shot. I began to run towards you, but Michael grabbed my arm. I shoved him away and I ran to you. Kneeling down I healed you. I knew that my entire existence was on the line, but so was you're life, and that meant more to me. For I was and am in love with you, Liz Parker. Liz gasped. She didn't know what to think. Memories of that day filled her mind. She quickly wiped her tears, and looked down. To find a trail of white rose pedals. Liz cautiously followed them, finding another note. She opened it up and it read: Michael and Isabel continued to tell me, that we couldn't get to close or involved with humans, but it was too late, for you had my heart. That day you invited me to a party at The Old Soap Factory. I knew that then and there was my chance to kiss you. To prove to you that I loved you. The next night, I climbed your ladder, and stared into your eyes. I knew that you felt the same way. I touched your hair, and then our lips met. I pulled back in pure surprise of how much electricity had ran through me, but within seconds my lips were touching yours. Our first kiss Liz. It was magic. Liz was now in tears, as she followed the trail of rose pedals. She picked it up and began reading: When you walked away from me that day, when my mother had told me my destiny, my life was turned upside down. It came to a halt. Througout all we have been through my heart has never spoken anything else, but it's love for you. No matter what happens between us my heart will continue to scream for you. It was and is you Liz Parker. Liz took a deep breath. She couldn't believe what was happening. Her dreams were coming true. Max had walked through her door, and confessed his love to her. She quickly looked up, knowing Max was there. He was standing in front of her. Max was wearing the same shirt and slacks he wore the night that they kissed. He stepped closer to her, and then kissed her tears. " Liz, please don't run from me." Before Liz could respond , Max's lips were pressed against hers. She could feel his arms wrapped around her waist. A single thought ran through her mind. Something Maria had said," Do something for Liz this time." Liz then had made up her mind. She pulled away from Max. " I promise not to run anymore. I love you Max Evans." " I love you Liz Parker." Max brought Liz closer, as he hugged her. Liz held tightly onto Max. " Max, promise me that you won't leave me, and that whatever we go through is worth it, because we're together." " Liz I promise that I won't leave you, and that whatever we go through is worth it, because we're together."
