Biography

Actress, born April 18, 1946, in London, England. Daughter of actor Sir John Mills and novelist-playwright Mary Hayley Bell. Sister of actress Juliet Mills.

Mills is best-known for her squeaky-clean Disney image, epitomized by her portrayal of Pollyanna.

She made her film debut at age thirteen, appearing with her father in Tiger Bay (1959). Signed by Walt Disney to a five-year contract, Mills won a special Academy Award for her performance in Pollyanna (1960). She went on to make several other movies for Disney, among them The Parent Trap (1962), In Search of the Castaways (1964), The Truth about Spring (1962), and That Darn Cat (1965).

Mills decided to shatter her innocent image by appearing nude in the British comedy The Family Way in 1967. She created further scandal when she married a man thirty-three years her senior, producer-director Roy Boulting, in 1971. The couple divorced in 1976 after having one son.

She appeared several made-for-TV movies, including Parent Trap II (1986) and its two sequels (both 1989).
