Lyn's Boat

We took her out for the first time this year Sunday (3/4/2001). The lake was at near record highs, but the fishing was great. We didn't catch a thing! We took the kids for a ride in the boat as well. Here's few pictures for you to enjoy!

Actually, the boat has another more official name, "Momma Hare's Fur Coat", but it has gotten the nickname above because of all the "accessories" Lyn has designed for it. James Bond would be proud.

One of the best loved features is the sun awning. Lyn hand sewed the fabric runners. He also designed the conduit piping, and the pipe holders.

Another great feature are the oversized cup holders. They are actually PVC pipe caps, but fit oversized mugs perfectly. In the picture below you can also see the custom anchor holder. It's a great accessory except if you forget to retract it before trying to load the boat on it's trailer.

The boat is powered by a Chrysler 75 horsepower engine. The charging array had to be custom built because you can no longer get the factory parts. The only problem with it now is that the engine overheats at full throttle. It's runs fine at 90%, but we have narrowed it down to either a new prop or a bad sensor.

The Anchor assembly was again a custom design with stainless steel plates, stainless steel bolts and small plastic conduit.

Lyn also has 500 feet or longer trot lines (catfish fishing in wholesale fashion) that uses hundreds of baited hooks. The giant red balls you see in the boat are actually old antenna guy wire markers. Lyn had sealed them, filled them with buoyant foam and are marker/floats for the ends of the line.
