Joyce Summers' Bio

Joyce Summers (Kristine Sutherland), was Buffy's mom. She was a typical mother: Overprotective, loving and feeling shut out of her daughters' lives. During the first two seasons, she was extremely worried about Buffy, since she did not know Buffy was the slayer, and could not understand her "violent tendencies." When she found out, she demanded Buffy stop or leave forever, which Buffy did, but eventually came back. After that, Joyce had been struggling with helping Buffy by supporting her, with the exception of when she was posseded by demons and tried to kill Buffy, Willow and Amy ("Gingerbread"), but also keeping her safe and treating her like a normal young adult. She had recently become more comfortable with and accepting of it. She worked at an art gallery, but when she developed a brain tumor ("Shadow"), she took a leave of absence to get over it. She did, and began working and dating again. However, Buffy recently Joyce's dead body on her couch, leaving Buffy, Dawn and the whole gang devestated. ("I Was Made To Love You"). Dawn attempted to ressurect her, but decided it was a bad idea, and destroyed the picture of her mom, thus killing the resurrected Joyce ("Forever").
