Charlotte Rae later married John Strauss.They had two sons, Larry, and Andrew.Charlotte divorced John before she won the role as Edna Garrett on the television series Diff'rent Strokes.
Later, she played Mrs. Edna Garrett on the spin-off, The Facts of Life. The Facts of Life ran for nine years, but Charlotte only played Mrs. Garrett for 7 of them!(Needless to say, the show just wasn't the same with Beverly Ann around instead of Mrs. Garrett) Since then, she's played numerous other roles, one of her latest was a role in Another Woman's Husband, the lifetime orginal movie. And no one could forget her AWESOME job in The Facts of Life Reunion Movie! She also, has recently(1993) narrated books written by her sister Mimi Guten and Mimi Guten's writing partner, Toni Mazolla.The titles of these books are Wally Koala and Friends, and Wally Koala and the Little Green Peach. These are GREAT books and Ms. Rae does all the voices and narrations on the audio cassette.She is AMAZING, as usual.The books are geared to children ages 2-7, although, I listened to Jessie's tape once and I thought they were good and I was 13, then!(I don't know if that is a compliment to me, or an insult, but hey, I liked the books, they are very cleverly written!)Jessie especially enjoys it when she hears Charlotte Rae doing the voice of Timmy Kookaburra.I have to admit it is hilarious! These books also, give children a message that they are special! They are very wonderful(and no, I did NOT promise anyone I would say this, I actually do LOVE them as much as I say!)
Anyway, She guest starred on NUMEROUS television shows including:Can't Hurry Love, The Love Boat, Diagnosis Murder and the list goes on and on. She truly is amazing!
