Latest Chat from Julian McMahon - May 9th, 2001
TV Guide Online: Tonight we are chatting with Julian McMahon about his role on the series Charmed. Hi Julian! Thanks for joining us!
McMahon: Thank you.
Question: Julian, thank you so much for coming to chat with us. I'd like to
know if you foresaw your immense popularity in the role of Cole, when you
signed on to do the part last year?
McMahon: No I didn't foresee anything. I didn't realize he would be
popular still. But that's a good thing.
Question: Julian, there is one thing that is on all of our minds. Are you
going to be on Charmed for Season 4? If so, for how long? Some of us were at
the Living TV chat that Shannen did and she said you will be back for
season 4.
McMahon: Well. Thank you to Shannen. Nothing has been confirmed yet.
We're still negotiating for next season.
Question: So whatever happened to Cole's silver BMW? Did the collection
agency take it away? lol
McMahon: That's a good question. The BMW was an on set rental. It
disappeared that afternoon. We never saw it again. Sometimes the budget
only goes so far.
Question: Which episode was your favorite to shoot? Your least favorite?
McMahon: My favorite to shoot was any episode that I was in. And my
least favorite was any episode that I wasn't in. I enjoyed all of them.
Question: If you could change one thing about Cole, what would it be? and
Why?
McMahon: LOL. Hmm. It's not up to me to change things about Cole. It's
up to the writers.
Question: Julian...congrats to you and your wife on your beautiful little girl.
Do you plan on increasing your family anytime soon?
McMahon: Certainly not in the near future. Things have been a little busy
with just one.
Question: Can you tell us about any funny instances on the Charmed set?
McMahon: No. ;)
Question: We know you love to cook, is there any food that you don't care
for?
McMahon: No. Actually, there is one food I don't like: uncooked liver.
Question: Julian, can you tell us anything about the movie you're making
with Shannen Doherty?
McMahon: Yes. What do you want to know? Wait till it comes out and then
you'll have to watch it. I'll tell you the basics. It's called Another Day. It's
produced by USA Films and American Zoetrope and I'm in it.
Question: I love your work - I have all your movies, i really enjoy In Quiet
Night-what was your reaction to the script when you first got it? how did
you come across the role of john grant? we have a fanclub for you at
yahoo.com..just thought id let you know.
McMahon: The script I liked. The role I auditioned for, and thanks for
watching.
Question: You did some theater work for a while after leaving Another
World. Is that something you will do again perhaps? What type do you
prefer? Film ,TV or Stage acting?
McMahon: I like it all just as long as I'm working. PS. And getting lots of
money. That's a lie.
Question: When does your movie with Jeff Daniels come out?
McMahon: Sometime this Autumn. It's called Chasing Sleep.
Question: With Buffy moving to UPN and Charmed WB's #2 show
(presumably now #1?) - how do you think this will affect the show?
Finally, more publicity?
McMahon: I don't know.
Question: You seem to have a great sense of humor, are you the practical
joker on the set?
McMahon: No. I don't like anything that's funny. ;)
Question: If you couldn't be an actor, is there anything else you would
want to do--you know, something cool like being a marine biologist? :o) It's
the next best thing to fighting with witches! LOL.
McMahon: Hmm. Hmm. I'd like to shoot documentaries for National
Geographic or the Discovery Channel.
Question: Isn't this a stressful business to work in? when you constantly
have to face looking for new projects? not knowing if a show will continue
or not? How do you manage the uncertainty?
McMahon: I don't know what stress is.
Question: What one thing would you say that you weren't good at doing?
McMahon: Eating liver.
Question: What kind of music do you typically listen to?
McMahon: I only listen to Black Sabbath.
Question: Would you ever consider having Madison star as Cole &
Phoebe's daughter if their relationship goes to the next level? That would
be so cute... :)
McMahon: No I wouldn't do that. She'd want her own trailer. The attitude,
I just couldn't deal with it. Maybe if I managed her, I could get a
percentage?
Question: What actor would you love to co-star with?
McMahon: Anyone. Anyone who is working.
Question: Julian, how did you feel about the petition online to keep Cole on
the show? Any possible spoilers about the season finale?
McMahon: I didn't know there was a petition but thank you very much. No
hints. But you must watch.
Question: Do you ever miss being so far away from Australia?
McMahon: Yes.
Question: If you could only be one, would you rather be Balthazar or Cole?
McMahon: I'd rather be bad.
Question: Is vegimite an acquired taste?
McMahon: LOL! I believe so. I don't mind it if you have a vegimite and
cheese sandwich. It tastes like it should be in a car. Use it instead of oil.
Question: Is there anything that you really enjoy doing but don't seem to
have the time to do it much?
McMahon: Not that I can think of.
Question: What does the future hold for Cole and Phoebe, in terms of long
term relationship?? Are things going to get worse before they get better? I
just want to say that the chemistry you too share is sizzling. We luv Cole
and Phoebe!!
McMahon: I wish I could tell you, but I don't know. But I'm glad you enjoy
it. Too many buts there.
TV Guide Online: Thank you Julian! We'll definitely be watching!
PLEASE come back and talk with us soon!
McMahon: Thank you very much. It's been fun. Hope you enjoy the show.
I'll speak to again soon.
