History: Sinister Sites was a paranormal television series done in pseudo-documentary style created by Graveyard Pictures through Mammoth Studios. The series was loosely based on the paranormal research of Tom Rule, Greg Fisher and Simon McAllister of West Coast Paranormal, three amateur ghost hunters based in North Los Angeles, California. Developed following the success of the SyFy TV series "Ghost Hunters," the series was originally planned to explore rare and obscure haunted houses in the United States, but as popularity in the series took off, the studio started demanding the team pursue more over-exposed locations from the media, like Alcatraz and the Lizzie Borden House.
Covering forty-eight episodes over four seasons, the team was lead by the amiable and affable Tom Rule who eventually became associate producer of the series. His team consisted of Greg Fisher who brought his skills as a tech expert and Simon McAllister, a history buff. Former child star Quentin French hosted the series, introducing each location from before a montage of newspaper clippings, grisly re-enactments and horrific imagery. The series was also known for a long string of camera men leaving the series, ending with Bub Haskell. Had there been a fifth season, it is likely Bub would only have lasted a few episodes.
The series ended with its investigation at the Wicker House near New Orleans. This episode was the first to be joined by a psychic; a New England medium from Holloman Academy named Heather Burton joined the team to research the ghosts of the Wicker House. The investigation was cut short by the discovery of human remains on the location, but by this point in the series history, declining ratings of "Sinister Sites" led to its cancellation although another factor might have been Quentin's increasingly long tirades and difficult demands. Since then, Tom Rule has retired from paranormal research, but Greg and Simon have both found their way into Bay Area Paranormal ("B.A.P.S.").
