The season three premiere picks up where season two left off, with Haley at the Scott’s front door, the dealership up in flames and Dan unconscious in his office. Deb runs off the answer the phone and Nathan proceeds to collect his things from the car. This time when he opens the door Haley’s there to let him know that she wants to come home. Not much else is said before Deb comes running out the door telling Nathan they have to go to the Dealership because Dan’s in trouble. Haley looks on from front step until Deb tells her to come with them.

Lucas and Peyton are drowning their sorrows at the beach. Peyton declares she can’t go home alone and Lucas offers to stay with her. When they arrive at Peyton’s Lucas asks what going on with her and she beings to tell him about the “creepy e-mails” and the arrival of a strange woman who claims to be her mother. Sirens blare in the background, and Luke confesses that “I did something tonight Peyton, and I can’t take it back.”

When Deb, Nathan and Haley arrive at the Dealership the fire department is already there attempting to put out the fire. Deb notices Dan’s car in the parking lot and Haley unconsciously grabs Nathan’s hand in support, when medic roles Dan’s gurney out to his family.

We come back three month’s later with Lucas holding a bouquet of flowers in the airport. Brooke’s walks up with her luggage in tow, surprised at the lovely gesture she thinks Lucas has made. Karen walks up and Brooke realizes that the flowers weren’t for her and Lucas let’s her know that he thought she’d be getting into town tomorrow. Brooke makes the snide remark “Oh, look there’s my cab, quick, maybe you can tell me you love me or something.” Lucas greets his mother and tells her she hasn’t missed a thing.

Luke stops by Peyton’s, who’s currently painting numbers to a wall mural she has in her bedroom. They both make comments about their changing hair styles over the summer....

While moving into the apartment Haley has a flashback of the when she first arrived back in Tree Hill and visited their apartment. While staring at the wall and picture Nathan painted pink she has another flashback of her first night back home. Nathan come in the the guestroom to see if she's got everything she needs for the night, frustrated Haley says "you mean other than you?" After a quick apology for her outburst she continues on letting him know that this is wired and that she can call Luke or Peyton and stay there for the night. Nathan tells her that it's late and she might as well stay there, "Besides, what's the difference? You turn the light out and it's all the same darkness." Haley attempts to explain herself to Nathan comparing him giving her a second change to him wanting one after her collapsed on the basketball court last year. "There was never a day on that tour when I didn't think you were the best part of my life."

Nathan counters with "You can't just say that, not after months of silence." The bicker about the annulment papers and how he came to see her, but she didn't even call him after he left. She proclaims that she called and he lets her know that he deleted her messages, "I deleted you." She tells him that in her message she said that she was being childish when she walked away from him for the tour and that she rebelled against his ultimatum for all the wrong reasons. She wanted to go and she loved every night of it, but there was never a day that she loved it more than she loved him. End Flashback.

We go back to Haley staring at the pink wall, when Brooke comes in and announces that she's rented the apartment.

"At this moment there are 6,470,818,671 people in the world, some are running scared, some are coming home, some tell lies to make it through the day, others are just now facing the truth, some are evil men at war with good, and some are good struggling with evil, 6 billion people in the world, 6 billion souls and sometimes all you need is one." -Peyton
