Title: Destiny Stones Category: Romance/Drama/Action Author: Davis02 Prequel: The Last Prophecy Sequel: Destiny Stones II I give this fic a 9 out of 10. NOTE: This story is from Davis' point of view. Matt was very frustrated with me, and I don't blame him. His little brother had just died to save me. "But why?!" was all Matt could say. His eyes were full of fury and defeat. There was a realization that he was powerless in this matter. It was the same thing I felt, the night I came back. "We'll get T.K. back," I said soothingly. I didn't know how we ould though. It gave me a sort of guilty feeling. Just like it had when I had told Kari the same thing. Everyone had been on an emotional rollercoaster. What, with me dieing, then coming back? Then, right when I come back, T.K. kicks the bucket. And even though he did what he did, there was no prophecy to bring him back. So far, it had been bearable; to an extent. Matt had just found out, but it had been 30 days for us hard working digidestined. We weren't as emotional about it as we used to be, but if we thought about it, we all still broke down. Even me, the good looking, strong, silent type. Okay, so maybe I'm not silent, and I'm not the strongest guy around, but I am good looking. I told the others what it was like to die in the digiworld. You were a ghost that could go anywhere. It was almost cool. But talk about total isolation. You couldn't talk to anybody! Except for the freaky Ghostmons. Suprisingly for us all, Kari was doing the best. She said that T.K. wouldn't want us to blubber like babies. She wanted us all to respect him by not doing that. I whole heartedly agreed with her. Though I had been kinda a jerk to T.K., it was cause I was jealous. I had always respacted him. He had done this digidestined thing since he was 8. Matt was still balling. "We're leaving to go to the digiworld right now. We'll find a way to bring him back," I told Matt. He slowly stopped, then looked up at me, angry, hurt, and red eyed. "I'm coming," he said, "and so is everyone else." Within 30 minutes, everyone was at Izzys, crying. They all felt the loss (of course). It took another hour for us to calm everyone down enough to get them up and throgh the portal. This time the portal led strait to the desert. "Great, the desert," I mumbled. "Why don't you like it?" Kari asked me as the group started moving. We started walking together in the back. "It's just too lonely," I answered. She grabbed me by the hands and we got closer like we were going to dance. She moved her lips closer to mine. I could fell her tongue in my mouth as we shared a sweet kiss (I only use the word sweet when I'm around Kari, so don't get any ideas). We pulled away and started walking again. "What was that for?" I asked. "You said you felt lonely." She smiled. I could always count on Kari to do the crazy thing at the right time. Something I wasn't too good at. "I'm so glad we're finaly together," I said to her. She kinda looked away, but I could still see her blushing. "I am too," she answered. "I never really wanted to admit it, but I liked the way you acted around me. Like you were trying to be perfect at everything." This time it was my turn to look away and blush. "That's why I tried to be with you when you and Ken became such good friends. You were focused on the digiworld instead of me. Well, for the most part." "Oh," was all I could say. "I...well, tried to make you jealous too by going everywhere with T.K." Once again, she was the one blushing. "Don't get me wrong, he was one of my best friends, but I loved you." "So that's why you agreed with everything he said and not me then right?" "No. I did that because his plans were usually a lot better and safer." We both started laughing. "I can't believe that he tried to kill me though." "Yeah, could never figure out why." I looked down at the ground. "Kari, there's something I never told you. You know outside the diner? When we first kissed?" "I'll never forget. It was amazing. I always knew you loved me but never thought that you would kiss me like that right after I told you I told you I felt the same. I expected you to do some dorky dance, jig thing." *sweatdrop* "Really." I regained my composure. "Well I never really would have except for......I saw that T.K. was watching, and all those months of being jealous, I felt like making him the same. He saw, and I'm pretty sure heard, everything." I was now hanging my head again. "He saw?" Kari seamed filled with saddness. "You don't think that's why he did it." "I think that's why he killed me. Just too much of a shock for him." I paused. "I have always respected him, but I just...something came over me. I wasn't my self. That's why at the party, I asked for some orange juice. I knew there wasn't any out and I needed the time to tell T.K. I was sorry. He had just already made up his mind I guess." "Why would you tell me this, no one would have ever guessed that you did that on purpose." "Because I feel like this whole thing is my fault. Matt's right. Now I don't know if we'll ever see T.K. again." She wiped away a single tear that had crawled it's way down my cheek. "I'm sure he forgave you. That's why he decided half way through to try to save you. He didn't want you dead. He just wasn't thinking strait." I calmed down a bit. "I realized that when I heard you read T.K.'s note from outside the tent. I just......all this is to say......I'm sorry Kari. You have probably been hurt by this more then me or T.K., and both of us have died. And it's all my fault." She gained a slightly more stern voice. "If there is one thing I have learned from being a digidestined since I was 8, it's that you can't blame anything on any one person. It's not that it's nobodys fault, it's just that it's far to difficult to know what effects your actions will have on the future. You never could have known what was going to happen." "Thanks," I said. The group had stopped up ahead. Right at the edge of a forest. "Okay," Tai said. "D3's, where's the next Destiny Stone?" I pulled mine out and started laughing. The next Destiny stone was only 50ft away. That can't be hard. But I quickly stopped laughing when I noticed that it was the only Destiny Stone. "No way," I said. "BLACKWARGREYMON couldn't have destoryed all the others so quickly! How did he get past the guardian?!" "I was wondering the same thing," Cody yelled. "That guardian looked like he could have taken on every digimon in the world!" "Well we better get over there quick!" Tai said. He pulled out his digivice, and within 5 minutes, all the other digimon were with us at the Destiny Stone. Me and Tai were talking. "You don't think BLACKWARGREYMON would attack while we are sleeping, do you?" Tai had a very worried tone. "No way," I said. "He never passes up a chance to fight. He'll attack while we're awake for sure." Tai looked extremely relieved. "Good, that means I can sleep in," he said laughing. *sweatdrop* "Don't push it, man." Since we had come to the digital world rather late in the day, it was already getting dark, and we had our tenst with us. We had been drenched in the digiworld too many times. But, go figure, the one time we bring sleeping bags and tents, it's 70 degrees and starry out. None of this stopped Matt and Tai from making the biggest fire I had ever seen though. We all seemed to have been very tired though, and me and Kari were the last ones to go to bed. We had shared the night looking at the beautiful stars (once again, the word beautiful, only around Kari). I was headed off to bed when she stopped me. "Good-night." I gave her a kiss on the forhead. She wrapped her arms around me and we held each other tightly. I began to sing a song (don't say a word about it, I was around Kari). "That was beautiful. You really have a good singing voice. What happened?" "What, didn't my voice always sound that good?" I smiled. "Well, you see, I never told any of you guys, but I have been taking singing lessons." She pulled away and looked at me. "Really?" "Yeah." "Why?" "Well, origionally I had wanted to tell you I love you by singing, but I couldn't work up the courage. I was just too afraid, that you would say no." "I wouldn't say no for a million dollars, Davis." It made me feel so much better to hear that. We both held each other again. It was so peaceful and quiet. Wait a minute, it was too quiet! "Aaaaahhhhhhhh!" The light was blinding. I looked to the tents, and saw EVERYONE! They all had cameras too. "You never told us you sing, Davis," Veemon blurted. "Veemon, are you behind this?" I asked. "When I saw you two lieing there, looking at the stars together, I thought you might like a picture. But it turned out everyone else did too. We were gonna get one of you two smoochin', but you two just wanted to hold each other." I was furious for a moment, but then I saw how hilarious the situation was. Me and Kari laughed along with the others, who were tromping back to their tents.
I could feel the crisp morning air on my face. I smiled. I sniffed the crisp morning air. It smelled like......SHAMPOO?!? I opened my eyes and saw a brown haired person in my sleeping bag. Then I remembered the night before. That meant this was, Kari. My mind raced. We didn't go that far, did we? No we didn't. I could remember what happened. We just slept in the same sleeping bag, that's all. I let out a sigh of relief. She felt so soft and warm. I lied facing her. I smiled as she breathed in and out rythmatically. She seemed so frail and helpless while asleep. It made me fell like I needed to protect her, from all pain. I didn't want her hurt. But that was GATOMONs job. I looked around for GATOMON and found her. I had to stifle my laughter. She was sleeping right next to none other then, the one, the only, VEEMON! They must've fallen asleep long after we did, cause I couldn't remember them being in the tent. I looked out the open tent flap, and saw the sun, just coming up. It was beautiful, (all this mush, but it don't matter. I'm with Kari, remember?), and even though she wasn't awake, I felt I shared it with her. (So I get corny while I'm around Kari. Can I help it?). I guess the sun woke her up, because the next thing I knew, she was moving around. I turned just in time to see her open her wonderous (another Kari word) hazel eyes. She looked suprised to see me. She seemed to be asking the same question I had asked my self when I woke up. "Don't worry," I told her, "we didn't go that far. I guess it just got...er...chilly out." Seemingly relieved, she smiled and said, "Good-morning." It was calming. She reached around my waist in the sleeping bag, just as I did. We pulled closer. Our lips met, and the sweet feeling I got every time, came. I hoped she didn't notice the part of me that was a little...ummm...overexcited by the moment. {After all,} I realized for the first time. {I only have boxers and a T-shirt on. She only had a shirt and undergarments on. While we continued to kiss, I heard the sounds of the morning: wind, chirping, tapping, clicking......clicking? "Hey guys, guess what?" Tai yelled from the door of the tent. Me and Kari tried to get out of the sleeping bag, but got caught in it. "Davis and Kari were sharing a sleeping bag, and I got pictures!" "Aren't you guys gonna save any pictures for the scenery?" I asked. I shoved him out and zipped up the flap. "Out! I'm gonna get dressed!" I turned around and Kari was laughing. I looked at her quizically. "Well," she started, "it was kinda funny, but what really made me laugh, was GATOMON and VEEMON. And they're still asleep after all this yelling and stuff!" We both had a good laugh as we pulled on some pants. I put on my jacket. We got out of the tent as soon as possible. There was still a fire where Matt and Tai had built one last night. The others were sitting around it, making breakfast. "I want one of every picture you guys take," I said as I sat down next to them. We all laughed. But they did say they would lay off the picture taking. Breakfast wasn't exactly like mom makes it, but it was okay. The digimon sure seemed to like it. They ate TONS of it. For most of the morning we just hung out, guarding the Destiny Stone. Nothing happened, until my shift. I was going with Ken to take my post at the Destiny Stone, when out of no where, BLACKWARGREYMONs "Terra Destroyer" was heard. "Quick! EXVEEMON, STINGMON, do it!" I yelled. "EXVEEMON" "STINGMON" "DNA Digivolve to........PAILDRAMON!" "I can't stop it, Davis. It's too strong!" PAILDRAMON yelled down to me. "Give it your best!" I yelled. Then, right before it hit us, it happened. "PAILDRAMON Mega Digivolve to.........IMPERIALDRAMON!" He blocked the hit just in time. That's when the calvery arrived, late. "We got here as soon as we could," WARGREYMON said.
