Long ago,a baby was born in a small shack just west of Athens to a farmer and his wife. They were a simple, quiet couple that were poor and relied in their faith to make ends meet. A couple of years after her birth, a young warlord by the name of Draco took the village and wiped out the town, leaving nothing. Her parents were killed and her life was spared as she was thought as no threat to the army. Draco had no use for a child, so he left her to die in the ruins of the village.

A few days after the village was attacked, an elderly woman seeking anything valuables in the ruins seen a young child in the rubble. She picked up the weak child and put her in her sales cart and went back to her home that night. When she returned home she fed the child some warm goat's milk and placed her in a bed she made out of an old storage crate. She sat on her perch and looked down at the young child. "I have no clue who you are child, you have seen terrible things in your short life, but you can call this place home now, the God's have blessed Thedidia with a miracle!". She smiled and kissed the toddler on the forehead. "Now what should Thedidia call you, you are an odd child, never to have shown any emotion after what you have been through, I had a daughter once, she passed shortly after birth, and her name will now be passed to you. Sleep well, my young Amarice." As the years went on, Amarice grew stronger, as Thedidia grew weaker due to her old age. By the age of 12, Amarice had a full time job cleaning up the local barracks to help earn some extra dinars to help Thedidia and herself pay the taxes and put food on the table.

Amarice was enthralled with the soldiers and the training they went through. She had no true friends, and a short lived education due to the ailing health of her adopted mother, so the soldiers were the only other people in town she knew and trusted. After completing a days work, Amarice would sit in the dirt and watch the soldiers train with their swords and arrows. When she would return home, she would fix dinner and feed Thedidia by spoon, then go to her self made hammock outside where she would look at the stars and dream about being a warrior, like the soldiers down at the barracks.

One day, Amarice was walking home after a long day, when she spotted a muscular woman, wearing a awkward shaped hat, and a scantally clad outfit made mostly of fur and clay beads walking in the shadows carrying a freshly killed fawn into the woods. Amarice's town didn't get visitors much besides some villagers now and then who would do trade at the market. The woman appeared to not want to be noticed and kept walking. Amarice followed slowly into the woods behind her. She walked deeper and deeper into the trees and hid behind a bush, where she peered though. The woman she was watching went into a small hut, a fire was lit outside, out of the hut came four more women. They cleaned the kill, and danced around the kill, praising it. All of the women had weapons near them and did not look to take to kindly to strangers, as there were skulls around their fire from soldiers. Amarice quietly left and ran back home to tell Thedidia of her new discovery.

When Amarice returned home, she fixed dinner and told her story to Thedidia. "You should have seen them, ma!" Amarice said with excitement. "They were warriors in the trees up north, and they seemed so connected to one another." Thedidia frowned and sat up. "Yes dear, those are the Amazons, a bunch of low mannered tramps that kill whoever trespasses on their territory. It would be best if you stayed away from them, they are dangerous and wise as Athena when it comes to the way of the sword." she replied. That night, Amarice lay in her hammock tossing and turning with her mind full of curiosity of what she seen. She never knew that a female could be anything more than a maid or a piece of eye candy. Amarice spoke aloud. "I know my destiny now, I want to be a strong amazon warrior just like them." Amarice returned to the same spot every night for the next three years, watching the Amazon village grow and the Amazons train and go into battle. Americe knew every amazon by name just from her observations she seen in the community over the years. When the amazons would go into battle, Americe would slowly follow behind and watch, when a Amazon would die in battle, Amarice felt as if she lost a part of her own family. She now knew the first amazon she seen went by the name of Melosa, and was an elder of the tribe. Amarice would go up in a tree and watch the ceremonies, the amazons knew of her presense, and were never alarmed, but never socialized with her as she was still an outsider. One Morning, Amarice was up in the tree before she had to go to the barracks, watching the tribe, and Melosa was approaching. Americe lost her balance and fell out of the tree, as she got up, she seen the boots of Melosa right at her head, Melosa stuck out her arm and helped her to her feet. "Young girl, do you not have anything better to do? Your puttin' yourself in danger, by even being here." Amarice dusted herself off. "I know, and I...." Melosa Interrupted. "You need to go find better things to do with your time, we can not and will not be a form of entertainment for some brat who is trying to stalk us." Amarice put her head down. Melosa took off her hat, grinning, and placed it on Amarice's head. "Just stay alert, you have much to learn if you ever want to be a warrior." Amarice smiled and went back to the village, proudly wearing her skin made hat, she skipped work that day and went back to her home. She rushed into Thedidia's room, full of excitement, and woke her. "Ma! Look!" She tilted her head down to show off her gift. Thedidia smiled. "Your a stubborn child, but you have that fire in your eyes, and I cannot take that away from you. You have grew much since I found you and devoloped to a strong, beautiful woman." Americe's eyes filled with tears as she hugged Thedidia tight and went outside to practice sword work with a stick. When she got home from work that day the laterns had burned low and she had a bad feeling in her stomach. Amarice went to check on Thedida, who was lying in her bed as usual, so Amarice tried to wake her. "Ma, wake up, time for dinner..." Nothing happened. Amarice's eyes filled with tears for the first time in her life, as she knew what had happened, she sat that night on the edge of the bed, until she kissed Thedidia on the forehead while saying "Sleep Tight, Mother".

Amarice was just now of age 16 and never had the pain she felt right then, she got all her belongings, put them in a bag, and headed off. Amarice thought about all she was leaving behind, the soidiers, her only place she ever thought as home, and the Amazon nation near where she sat and dreamed of being a warrior. A few days after she left, she seen a young couple with a infant being robbed by a greasy warlord in the distance. She thought to herself "this is my chance to see if anything I have learned has paid off". Amarice ran over and confronted the warlord, he pointed his sword over to her, as the couple made their escape. She then hit the middle of the blade with her forearm and struck him in the face, she then grabbed the sword, he ran at her and she impaled the man right through the chest. Then she froze...thinking of what she had just done, not knowing to feel joy or sorrow. She pulled out the sword and took the warlords scabbard, attaching them to her back and moving on quietly. Amarice was now as lost and confused as ever, as she thought it seemed so easy to kill, as she had watched the amazons take lives on many occasions, but she had a guilt about it, but went on helping whoever came across her path. She killed when she needed to, and had bad judgement on many occasions.

One day, she was bathing is a river, when she heard a familiar sound. She got out, ran to her amazon-based clothing that she made herself, and grabbed her hat and walked to the sound. It was a small Amazon village, and they were having a ceremony outside. She hid in the bushes nearby and watched, remembering all of the ones she had seen in the past. Then a sword was placed right in front of her, she looked up and an amazon was standing right in front of her. "Who are you and tell me why I should not kill you now." said the woman. Amarice was had a frightened look on her face. "I....I am one of you, from the tribe west of Athens." The Amazon withdrew her sword and helped her to her feet. Amarice smiled and walked back to the camp with the amazon. She looked up when she got to camp, a masked woman was sitting up high, who appeared to be the queen. The masked woman stepped down and approached Amarice. "I hear you are one of us, and judging by the attire you are in you are from the tribe of the late Melosa." Amarice quickly looked up and a tear came to her eye, it had been over two years since she had seen the kind and strong Melosa and the news of her loss was heartbreaking. The queen took off her mask and revealed her frizzy blond hair and a smile came to her face. "I can tell you cared about her, she was a true warrior until the end." Amarice was allowed to stay in one of the huts, she would sit at the fire at night with the other Amazons and tell stories of the battles she had seen, but she would put herself in the battle when she would describe it, even though she had only fought a few warlords and enemy soidiers. Soon after, Ephiny who was the queen on the tribe, took the young Amarice under her wing. Amarice would help the tribe get food, and fight the small battles every chance she got, and spar with Ephiny and the other amazons. One evening, a Amazon ran to the huts warned of Romans approaching. The amazons went straight into battle, and Amarice was right there with them. The Romans were right outside the village as the Amazons attacked them with full force. In the battle Amarice was right with Ephiny, until a Roman soldier attacked her, drawing his blade, about to kill her when Ephiny quickly killed him, the leader of the Roman soldiers quickly joined the battle with Ephiny, and plunged his sword into her. Amarice ran to Ephiny's side, where she passed instantly. The battle ended shortly after.
