I’d like to thank Lori for helping me with this series. Without her I don’t think I could have done this.

She stood up and turned around to leave and noticed that Mark was still in the room. She was stunned.

“Elizabeth???”

“Mark...I...”

He grabbed her by the arm and led her into the next clear exam room. “Elizabeth why didn’t you ever tell me?” he said in a shocked tone.

“I...I don’t know.” Trying to change the subject fast she said, “Look my shift ends in an hour lets just talk about this at home, can we?” she didn’t give him a chance to respond as she quickly walked out of the room.

He didn’t budge one bit, he was still in so much shock. Why was she keeping something like that back from him? Maybe it was nothing, what he heard was something different from what it really meant, that’s all, a misunderstanding. Nothing more, nothing less. Elizabeth always told him he read too much into things...she was right, he was just going to put it out of his mind for the next hour. But that wasn’t going to be as easy as it sounded.

Elizabeth stepped onto the elevator to go to post-OP to see a patient. She couldn’t help but think about the mistake she had made earlier. What was she thinking when she just out and blurted that she knew exactly what Olivia was talking about? She hadn’t told Mark so far what had happened, she’d been so good at keeping it a secret. Now he was going to hate her. That was all in the past and this is the present so why bring up old news, right? But, then again, now she doesn’t have to feel that she’s lying to him anymore, either.

Just then the elevator doors opened and Peter was waiting for the elevator.

“Are you getting off?” she asking in a polite tone.

“No actually I’m just getting on, I had to go to one of Reese’s speech sessions earlier.”

“Oh lucky you.” she said sarcastically. “I’ll see you later.”

“Yeah.”

After she was done in post-Op, Elizabeth looked down at her watch, her shift was over. “Time has gone by so fast”, she thought to herself.

She went down to the ER to get her things and then went to find Mark. When she finally found him he was still seeing patients.

“Hey. I take it your not going home anytime soon?”

“Probably not for another hour or so. I’m sorry.”

“No need to apologize, I understand. I guess I’ll see you at home then.” She gave him a kiss and whispered in his ear, “I love you.”

“I love you too” he shouted as she walked down the hallway.

When she got home she threw her things on the sofa and went to the kitchen and made herself a cup of tea. In a way she was relieved that he didn’t come home with her, but she knew the time would come later on. She went in the bedroom and changed into a pair of Marks boxers and a sweatshirt. She had clothes there, but she always felt better in his clothes. She laid down on the bed and waited for him to come home, but in the process she fell asleep.

Two hours later, Mark stepped in the front door. He threw his stuff down next to Elizabeth’s and took in a deep breath. He always knew she’d been home because he could still smell her perfume lingering in the air. He walked in the bedroom and saw her sleeping peacefully on the bed. He couldn’t help but stare.

He took a quick shower and got in bed with her. As soon as he slipped under the sheets it was like she knew instantly that he was there, she turned over and putr or not I’m going to go back to England with him.”

Mark was speechless. This was a lot to take in at a time. “Well when he comes to see you I want you to call me so I can keep an eye on him.”

Elizabeth turned around and headed for the bedroom acting like she never heard his request. “I’ve got to take a shower, my shift starts in an hour.”

“Not if I get in before you do!” Mark said running towards the bathroom.

It was about noon when Mark walked by chairs to go to check on a patient when he saw a slightly familiar figure sitting down.

He walked over to the man and asked curiously, “Do I know you?”

The man looked at him and stood up to greet him, “Yes, Bethy, uh...Elizabeth introduced us yesterday, My name is Michael.?”

Right after Michael finished his sentence, Mark hit him dead in nose. Just then Elizabeth stepped out of the elevators.

Michael got up off the ground and punched him back, and they started to fight. A crowd started to gather around them. Elizabeth ran over and screamed, “MARK!” She knew better than to get in the middle of their fight. So she called Dave and Peter to break it up.

All of a sudden they heard Kerry’s voice behind the crowd, “All right, all right, break it up here!!! If you’re going to fight do it somewhere other than my ER!!!”

Finally Dave and Peter broke them up. Marks lip was bleeding and his clothes were torn; and Michael’s nose was bleeding and his clothes were also torn.

“You son of a bitch what the hell was that for???” Michael shouted.

“What was it for?? That was for Elizabeth!”

The crowd got quiet and turned to where Elizabeth was standing, she was starting to turn red with embarrassment.
